4 out of 5 eggsgood budget board

Pros: nice mid range motherboard

Cons: no core support, limited overclocking

Other Thoughts: onboard video runs WOW well, plus you can upgrade it later.

2 out of 5 eggsCrashes at least once a week

Pros: The package seems pretty good but looks can be deceiving.

Cons: Can't install the following operating systems due either blue screens or kernel panics:

Ubuntu 6.06 - locked up during install
Fedora Core 4,5, and 6 -- locked up during install
Windows Small Business Server -- installs fine but a different BSOD every day
Windows XP -- installs fine but still getting irregular blue screens. It was a little more stable using the realtek network drivers instead of the asus network drivers

Other Thoughts: This is my combo so you might want to avoid it.

-- ASUS P5RD2-VM Socket T (LGA 775) ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

-- Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield 2.66GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual Core,EM64T Processor - OEM

-- CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) System Memory - Retail

I will probably RMA the board to see if I just got a bad one.

3 out of 5 eggsMake another choice

Pros: Its an ASUS inexpensive 775 socket

Cons: The chip set is not very good compared to NVidea or Intel. It's very very picky about which DDR2 667 will work. Only 2 gigs ram max

Other Thoughts: I bought this board from a local computer shop because I don't buy anything online. The 1st board wouldn't boot up XP MCE so I RMA'd it and after 3 weeks I finally was able to put my computer together. Then I found out how picky this board is about ram. Mushkin does not work period. I ordered OCZ gold and it works like a dream. Then I found out this board will not overclock above 3.4 gigs in XP MCE. My system is a Pentium D 805, this board for now, 2 gigs OCZ gold, 250 gigs western hard drive, ATI FX1900 all in wonder, creative labs audigy2 oem sound card, ASUS cd/dvd drive and burner, Atrix black dragon case, antec 550 watt psu, and thermaltake 120mm liquid cooling. I'm replacing this board with a P5LD2-Deluxe, adding 2 more gigs of ram and going to OC it to 4 gigs which is what I wanted to do to begin with. This board is a dud so don't waste your time and money like i have on a pile of mix matched hardware that won't be of any use unless I build several more computers.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value!

Pros: Great all-in-one board to run my Media Center. Got 805, 2GB, 2 x 250GB SATA and this baby is quick! Onboard video works with MCE OOB!

Cons: Had some initial problems with it seeing all memory as bad but dismounted and remounted the board and it's fine! Not sure what was going on. Also has a limited OC potential - I don't mind so much.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat mobo

Pros: Great. BIOS is a lot easier to navigate than my older ECS's BIOS. Overall well rounded and well priced.

Cons: SATA 1 is the part of the RAID, had some trouble installing windows becuase of that, but if you follow your insincts and use the top port (SATA 4) then you won't have my problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Great motherboard. Onboard graphics are amazing. Can run HL2 and Rainbow6 Lockdown on high settings (no AA). PCI-E x16 is accually a x16 slot.

Cons: Overclocking not so great. Included Floppy Drive cable is not notched and poorly marked. On two DIMM slots

Other Thoughts: Great motherboard for the price. Has all the features of the higher end boards for half the price.

5 out of 5 eggsOC'd 805 1Ghz, no BSOD

Pros: just built 4 of these last weekend, D 805 @ 3.57Ghz (175x20)(air) 1GB DDR 667, not the best oc but 805 is stable on this board up to 3.8Ghz, BSOD after 3.8 on XP Pro

Cons: none..other reviews had problems with on board video, all 4 installs were seamless-no conflicts...

Other Thoughts: have built many systems using 805, mostly on Ixxl mobo's, this board was not meant for OC, but i'm very happy with its current performance @ 3.5, to bad there are not more OC features on this board to make it perfect...805 in my opinion is the best bang for the buck out there right now!
