3 out of 5 eggsNo Help from Asus

Pros: Installation was routine. The MB is stable and performed well with my Vista opertaing system. ATI video controller preformance is well beyond what I expected.

Cons: After about a month, the MB quit recognizing my USB mouse during restarts, cold starts are okay. Now after 6 months I have no audio, the drivers are current. I have written the ASUS support line (48 hour turnaround) concerning the latter problem with no reply after five days.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased more than just few MBs from ASUS and considered them to be the best. They no longer meet that expectation.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for enthusiast

Pros: Great board for the price....... Has support for 6 core processors and for 1200mhz oced ddr2 ram........ Awesome display port selection...... 6 SATA ports....... Small footprint in case.

Cons: No mosfet cooler(for overclocking)....... Driver support is horrible..... only 2 dimm slots...... HDMI audio did not work and still doesnt...... does not overclock very well

Other Thoughts: I managed to get my athlon IIx4 630 overclocked to 3.6 ghz but could only reach a max bus speed of 278. That was probably the biggest upset , besides the HD audio, for me on this board. It is great for someone who is just going to be surfing the web and not going to be overclocking to much.

Pros: good mobo, no problems ever, amd board, and quick setup.

Cons: can't get to the driver updates on asus.com i click on the link for this mobo and it just sends me back to the homepage. if anyone else can get to it lemme know but thats a huge con not being able to update my drivers.

Other Thoughts: Amd athlon ll dual core 2.8ghz, 2gigs ram ocz with heat sinks, 400psu dyntec, 2hdds one 80gbs one 500 and it works nice and cool.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: - Works as advertised.
- Built in graphics excellent for light gaming.
- HDMI
- Small footprint
- Typical ASUS quality

I purchased this to refurb a light gaming rig/homework machine for my son. Was able to reuse the power supply, case and hard drive. Added this board, 4 GB of RAM, a Sony DVD Burner and an Athlon II X3 445 3.1 processor. Literally had it up and running 20 minutes after the package arrived. Everything worked perfectly from the get go. Got it completely configured, plugged it into his HDTV and done.

Cons: - Two RAM slots (kind of a bummer)

Not much else I can think of.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job

Pros: 6 sata ports, accepts AM3, still has DDR2

Cons: As per the other reviews, the N bridge heat sink separated from the chip. I was expecting this & was prepared with Arctic Silver.

Other Thoughts: I got this because the board I got with a barebones kit was bad twice. I'm not an over-clocker, so I haven't experimented. Seems like a good board. The temp monitoring software displays a pretty consistent 72 f.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board!!!

Pros: I use this board for my workstation/fileserver at home:
* Very good layout for sata cables
* DDR2 overclock supported
* Core unlocking supported (tested with phenom II BE 555)

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Wish it had 2 more ram slots so I don't have to look for 4GB modules in future.

My system specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630
MB: ASUS M4A78L-M
RAM: OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR2 1066
HDD: 1. Kinston SSDNow 64GB SNV425-S2
2. Western Digital 1TB WD10EAVS
3. Western Digital 250GB WD2500JS
4. Western Digital 2TB WD20EARS
5. Seagate 1.5TB ST31500341AS
* running onboard graphics for low heat quiet operation.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo

Pros: Great Mobo! Was looking for mobo that supported new phenom II processors, but would use the ram from my old setup! DDR2 667, This fit the bill, Saved some cash by only needing to by 2 more gigs of ram instead of a new quad channel kit. Love the EPU engine and ASUS pc probe utilities. Awesome motherboard for a budget gaming rig!

Cons: AMD cool and quiet sucks! Doesn't work like advertised! Still underclocks cpu even when gaming!

Other Thoughts: Never tried the onboard video! Started with a gigabyte ati 4850 1 gig card! XP had some problems with the onboard via audio and onboard hdmi audio conflicting! Windows 7 fixed it! Once again great mobo! Newegg ROCKS!

4 out of 5 eggsFile server motherboard

Pros: It's well made. Does what it's supposed to do. No frills, budget motherboard with a lot of great features.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this mobo for an unRAID file server that I'm building and so far there are no issues to report... all is working as expected. I wouldn't want to use this mobo for any serious Windows 7 machines but it's perfect for a basic file server that will be running quietly in the background.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I ordered this as part of a package without even realizing it wasn't fully assembled believe it or not. The fact that I'm typing this review from that computer lets you know the setup went off without a hitch. Took me a couple of hours since I don't do this type of thing every day but I'm loving it now!

Cons: NOne so far and I hope none in the future because if doesn't work right out of the box I'm sunk.
