1 out of 5 eggspoor support

Pros: good value board until it breaks.

Cons: I have been without a motherboard for almost three months. Once Asus receives the board, it sits on bench for 10 days then awaits parts. Then they replace with another broken board and commits to better service which they do not provide

Other Thoughts: Do not purchase Asus motherboards if you desire to have proper customer support

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Rich,

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Easy to use. I have been using it since 10-2011 every day and has not given me any trouble. Love this board. I use Windows 7 64 bit and Kingston 4 gig. And a 4 core processor.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Will buy ASUS again.

1 out of 5 eggsFlaky Board

Pros: Onboard devices
Easy setup

Cons: Has continually locked up even after being RMA'd once to Asus directly. Tried different power supplies, different RAM, using a discrete video card, different monitors, still freezes and has to be manually reset with lines appearing on the screen. RMA replacement board had the same serial number as the one sent out.

Other Thoughts: Going with Gigabyte the next time.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the issue you had with the motherboard. Lockups and freezes may be software-related and in some rare cased by hardware. We recommend updating to the latest BIOS (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3/M4A78LTM/#download), having only crucial components installed, performing a clean install of Windows, and using only drivers from our website.

If the issue is not resolved even after trying the above, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com. Reference #C1037-5213 in the subject line and include RMA #, your system setup and software/driver installed for faster reply.

Regards,
Benson

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Great sound and video. I love the ability of this board to shut down the fans at the same time the hard drive is put to sleep, thus it really saves energy. I did not have to re-install Windows 7 for this board to work; WONDERFUL.

Cons: None that I know of.

Other Thoughts: This is the best board I have ever owned, I am sold on ASUS.

2 out of 5 eggsStated out good

Pros: Decent budget board with some bells and whistles.

Cons: Seems like the SATA ports are in some awkward spots, to me, but that's not my gripe. My gripe is that after a few months, as others have said, it's started BSODing on me. I come to find out that my CPU isn't supported and that, really, there are barely any CPUs that are supported on this board. Tried finding the ones on the list here at Newegg, and they're either out of stock or not carried. Tried searching the net, and also no such luck.

Going to just buy a different board that can actually keep up with the times and doesn't need special snowflake parts.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard for a budget build

Pros: We are a computer repair shop and have done a lot of builds with these motherboards. We have built at least 15 computers with these boards with no issues at all.
VGA is sturdy, which is unusual for most Asus boards. Most Asus boards have VGA ports that feel like they will break off. In fact, I have had two break from customers moving their computers. They run fast and cool and so far very reliable.

Cons: Only two memory slots, but the price is cheap.

Other Thoughts: This is not a feature rich board, but for the price you get good reliability and easy installation.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Board

Pros: Very Stable, tweaks for days, supports 6 Core processors, built in Anti-Surge, stable over-clocking on my Athlon II X3 2.9 Ghz, Turbo Button, and etc...

Cons: I couldn't Hybrid my HD3850 with the onboard HD 3000. Nol big Deal.

3 out of 5 eggsOnly 1 flaw

Pros: * Small
* Supports up to hex CPU's

Cons: * Small (only 2 RAM slots)
* Supports 8GB of RAM, however the QVL by Asus does not indicate what 4GB RAM sticks the mobo supports (hint: check kingston)
* Problem with built in NIC card: Sometimes on Windows 7 the NIC will crash; cannot disable/enable. Requires reboot to fix.

5 out of 5 eggsCame back for more

Pros: Ease of installation, configuration, small, great price and it's an ASUS.

Cons: This one went into a relative's build and I have to send it to him..... eventually.

Other Thoughts: Second purchase of this board. First one went into a work station and this one I placed in a build for a relative. If I didn't want to play with the FM1 sockets so badly it would go in build #3. Great price and performance. AMD x4 on first one and an AMD x2 on this board - both with 8gb memory and dedicated GPU's. On board graphics are sufficient for full time use if needed, I just had extra GPU's looking for a home.
