2 out of 5 eggsHit or Miss

Pros: It works as intended for one of my boards.

Cons: My second board is just a complete paperweight. After 7 months, of randomly no POST on restart and having to shut down and start my PC about 5-6 times each time of event, it would finally start. However, one day in mid September 2011 it decided it just die on me, had to just upgrade MB and CPU then downgrade my RAM.

Other Thoughts: I own two of these boards, one has been working flawlessly for about 2 1/2 years. The second just wow. After 2 years of real life issues; I'm having issues just trying to find how to go through all the warranty process. Asus is not ranking very high in customer service at this point.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Shay,

It is unfortunate that your motherboard is malfunctioning. If I may, I would like to help. If you are still within the warranty period, I would suggest contacting our RMA Specialist, Jolene, so that she can set up the RMA for you. Her email is cl-jolene@asus.com. With that said, I apologize for the customer service thus far, but I am sure that everything will go as planned from this point on. Your reference number is 2988695.

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

Regards,

Mark

2 out of 5 eggsSATA headers are garbage

Pros: Generally I like the board and its options. HOWEVER...

Cons: Within a few months of using this board I started getting the message "no boot device found" when trying to boot up.

I would unplug the SATA cable and plug it into a different header and it would work. inevitably after a few boots id get the no boot device found message again and id have to repeat the process.
I have swapped out my SATA cables, blown any dust out with compressed air, cleaned the headers with denatured alcohol and updated the BIOS.
It is not an issue with the devices because I have the same issue with multiple drives.

I seriously regret ever buying this board because the current options for a good LGA1366 MB are extremely limited so I'm gonna be stuck buying a new CPU too.

Other Thoughts: I thought ASUS made high quality products. I was wrong. Live and learn.

1 out of 5 eggsRe: ASUS - Quality ??? Hmmm

Pros: Very good for overclocking, easy to setup when NOT overclocking and, in general a great board.

Cons: Asus's quality is in the toilet. The last two motherboards I have received have failed shortly after installation. Please note that THIS review is in direct response to ASUS's response shown here because I want it CLEAR what I have done so far and that I am STILL EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with Asus's resopnses to date.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

Have you tried updating the BIOS to the latest version. If you have already done so and are still experiencing problems, please consider RMA the motherboard by using our RMA submittal form at http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx or call 1-812-282-2787.

My Response:
As stated above, I previously wrote a review, then ASUS posted their "Manufacturer response". This is a followup.

1) First I had to fill out an online form. This was on 8/7.
(Continued under "Other Thoughts")

Other Thoughts: Continued from above

2) I received return email on 8/13 telling me to call ASUS and the phone number.
3) I called on 8/13 (same day). After ~20 minutes on hold I reached a rep. Another 15-20 minute discussion he said he would RMA my board.
4) I received my RMA # and my board qualified for Cross Shipping. He said I should receive an email with cross ship instructions within 24-48 hours.
5) This email was received on 8/22 - a FULL 9 DAYS later and 7 DAYS LATER THAN I WAS TOLD.
6) I was away a few days, but faxed the paperwork to ASUS on 8/27. I opted to pay an ADDITIONAL $30 for "next day" shipping. I understood that it would take 2 days to process.
7) On 8/30 the motherboard should have arrived so I called. ASUS showed NOTHING in their system and this was just "a call center" so could not give me any supervisor. Said I would get an email within 24 hrs.
8) NOTHING, NO PHONE CALL on Friday and I WAS TOO BUSY TO CALL.

This customer service SUCKS and NO RESPONSE will help

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Carl,

I'm sorry that it has taken this long to process your RMA. Please allow me to take a look at your RMA # and I will do my best to assist you. My email is cl-benson@asus.com reference #C1037-4208.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS - Quality ??? Hmmm

Pros: Very good for overclocking, easy to setup when NOT overclocking and, in general a great board.

Cons: Price - BIG price tag, but, you pay for the newest.
QUALITY - This motherboard worked fine for the first few weeks, then, after that it would not reliably boot. I would have to power it ALL THE WAY down - until all the lights weng out, turn it on, hit "Start", then hit the "power interrupt to CPU" several times before it would start. Sometimes I had to do this 5, 10, or 15 times to get it up and running.

I also have a system with an ASUS Rampage II Extreme and THAT board suffered from USB Power shutting off. I USED TO love ASUS but 2 bad in 2 motherboards does not make me a happy camper at all.

Other Thoughts: I can understand having some problems but the last two ASUS motherboards I have used have resulted in two bad motherboards. Will I try ASUS for my next motherboard? I am NOT sure, I will DEFINITELY look around at the competition. That does NOT mean I won't end up back at ASUS but if this mb had been fine I would not even have CONSIDERED another manufacturer. If ASUS keeps this up they will eventually shoot themselves in their foot.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent support for 24GB SDRAM

Pros: This is probably the BEST LGA 1366 mobo ever designed and built.I've been abusing mine for close to 2 years already and this thing still rocks! The board layout and features are all NOVICE and ADVANCED user friendly. This board has a very high tolerance for faults and usually recovers fast from failed OC attempts. Easily overclocked my Core i7 930 to a stable 4.52ghz with 1.375v. Contrary to what the previous reviewer stated, this mobo IS capable of supporting 24GB of triple channel RAM. I have my Mushkins running @ 2155mhz @ 1.65V with a gorgeous set of timings @ 9-11-9-24 2N, Yes, you read it right!!! Very tight timings for such a high OC frequency for the RAM..This mobo simply handles these settings with ease. Just make sure you flash the BIOS to the latest 1502 version and you should be fine. Quality build over all.

Cons: COST- After more than 2 years, Asus should lower down the price of this hero so more users can enjoy what X58 platform is capable of. SATA 3 - Very poor handling of SATA 3 SSDs in RAID 0. I dont know why this board's SATA 3 controllers perform worse in RAID 0 than in SATA 2 ports. I ended up using the SATA 2 for my twin Crucial C300s. LACK of 4-way SLI support - For the price of this thing, Asus should've thrown in another NF200 chip to enable us UBER users to throw in 4 GTX 980s!! - LOL
LACK of UEFI Bios interface - I wish there's a way to flash the BIOS to a UEFI style approach so we can OC even more!

Other Thoughts: I'm using this mobo to handle the following:
Intel Core i7 930 @4.52ghz (1.375v) - liquid cooled
GTX 580 3gb edition in 3way SLI (932mhz) - liquid cooled
Koolance ERM 3K3Uc - Liquid cooling system
Mushkin 24GB triple channel RAM @ 2155mhz(9-11-9-24)
Silverstone 1500W fully modular PSU
Bitspwer/ Koolance fittings
Boutique Builder full tower chasis (modified Silverstone)
3 x Samsung 305t on NVIDIA surround (8020 x 1600 resolution)
Wadia 151 USB DAC for sound amplification
B&W CM1 for 2 channel stereo sound
Logitech G19 keyboard
Razer Mamba 2011 cordless mouse
A loving wife and 2 cheerful kids by my side while playing BF3.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard but lacks support for 24GBS of RAM

Pros: The Motherboard itself is built of quality components. The board has a nice appearance to the color scheme for the HAF932 case.

Cons: The motherboard does not fully support 24GBS of DDR3 running at 1066.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this board for any novice users.

This is an advanced board and will require a great deal of knowledge when unlocking the full potential of the board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo

Pros: Sry to people who get DOA's. But there are people who don't. I personally have bought Asus for my last two builds and have not had any issues. great features for OC'ers. If you don't OC then you still get a great board.

Cons: I think Asus is don't producing this board, deativated in Newegg and not on thier product list on the Asus site. Still plenty of supposrt for it though.
