5 out of 5 eggsStill Strong after 3 years

Pros: This board has served me through 2 memory upgrades, 3 hard drive upgrades, 4 video card upgrades, and finally; a new processor.

Kudos to both AMD and ASUS for offering a simple BIOS update to allow me to upgrade to the latest processors.

With this motherboard and FX-8350, I'm getting 5.2GHz turbo core on all 8 of my cores and my benchmarking shows me beating an i7-4770K (in certain tasks).

Cons: Not a huge con, but would have been cool.

Other Thoughts: As of this writing you can't buy these boards new, so my intent here is to illustrate the support that ASUS provides as well as the upgrade-ability that AMD puts forward. Contrast this with an Intel solution that has changed socket types 3 times in this motherboard's life.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Everything from the built in Xi-Fi to the ability to crossfire as well as the many processors it supports. I love this board. The sound software it comes with makes pairing the Razer Tiamat 7.1 ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

Cons: No Cons as of yet.

1 out of 5 eggsBad mother board

Pros: probabley a good product if it is good from factory

Cons: just put together, had on shelf for some time I build them as needed but, on board ethernet does not work, had the geek squad look at, they recomend sending back, but I can't, remember 30 days is all they give you. Little discusted, have to except this, unless new egg replaces this board, Ive bought many good computer components from them though.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the issue you had with onboard LAN on this motherboard. Please check that the Marvell Ethernet controller (Advanced > Onboard Devices Configuration > Onboard LAN) is enabled in BIOS, that it is detected in Windows Device Manager, and that the status LED's on the port are on (one should be steady and the other blinking when there's activity). If no, we suggest sending the motherboard in for service. Please use the online submittal form at: http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx or call us at 1-812-282-2787 to request a RMA #. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsOne Of The Best MOBO ever Owned!

Pros: I have had this board for a while now a couple years I think, I am very impressed, I updated the bios to support new cpus, I recently upgraded just about everything on this baby and it works and runs flawless. I installed new amd fx 8350 with a corsair h80 watercooler, and overcloced it to 4.86 without any voltage increses and it runs smooth as silk, I am sure I can hit at least 5 gig, but for now I will leave it at 4.86. Also installed a 32gig set of g-skill ram ripjaw series sticks running at 1980mhz at 1.5v, I am very impressed here because I thought this board had a limit of only 16 gigs of ram but I installed 4 8 gig sticks in there and it accepted them and ran them at overclocked frequency with no problems at all, beautiful system, I love asus mobos. I also upgraded from a single geforce 580 gtx to a single geforce 690 gtx (only because this system only accepts crossfire not sli configurations otherwise I would of set up a quad sli. oh well it still has a ton of graphic power with just one of these babys) and upgraded my main os drive from a dual 600 raptors to dual ocz agility 3 in raid 0 config, needless to say this system is fast fast fast

Cons: No sli, no support for 3T+ hdds needed more sata connections, but cant complain too much it is an old motherboard

Other Thoughts: my current system specs are as follows
CPU - AMD FX 8350 stock 4.00 , overclocked to 4.86 stable

Memory - G-Skill Ripjaw seriers 1866 32 gigs overclocked to 1980 1.5v

Case - Azza Solano R 100

Motherboard - Asus Crosshair iv

Powersupply - Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W

Cooling - Corsair H 80 Hydro Series

Graphics -1 Geforce GTX 690

Sound - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card

Optical Drives - 6 LG Blu-ray 10x burners

Storage - 2 x512gig Ocz Agility3 raid 0 for main drive, 2 x 1terabyte western digital raptors 64meg cache, 3 2 terabyte western digital black edition for deep storage. I did have to add a couple of Pci express cards for more sata ports. I set up a beautiful, fast multimedia, gaming rig. I have about 10 years of building systems experience and this is one of my favorites.

5 out of 5 eggsCrossHair IV

Pros: Very easy to set up and plenty of space to install everything. Fairly easy to overclock and extremely easy to flash your bios with the program included. I also like the boot sequence set up. A great board considering you can use fx cpus and i didn't even need to update the bios although i strongly reccommend just because it is always nice to have the latest updates.

Cons: I am using the fx 6100 and you cannot change the cpu multiplier with it so instead when overclocking you must change the bus frequency which isn't really a huge problem but then when going extreme overclocking you will have to fool around with the voltages which always means lots of heat. I am not sure if it is just me but with my kingston hyper-x 2 8gb sticks i have issue changing the frequency's and tend to get overclock failure messages but i'm sure that can be resolved with some finer tweaking and voltage settings.

Other Thoughts: Easy Bios, Helpful pre-installed programs such as the core unlocker and overclock utility not to mention the easy flash for bios.
