4 out of 5 eggsGood & Stable

Pros: The first machine I put together was a 286 back in 1989, and boy, was it a major job getting everything compatible... but this board; my grandson could have done this easily.

Used a AMD core 6 processor, and still going strong with 4GB mem. Had this thing near 5 years now, and about to upgrade the memory sticks, and throw in another GPU, and was hoping someone else had made the transition, and was able to save me some grief. If I could cross-fire with the on board video, it would be great.

Cons: The on-board video was less than expected, but I made do with some easy overclocking, but newer programs are gobbling up the RAM. Soon to find out if the limit of 16GB RAM is etched in stone or not... with four slots it should accept 32GB (we will see).

Other Thoughts: Overall, this has been a good board. It rates an A+ at this point.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong.

Pros: Snappy and lots of potential upgrades. I've only availed myself of a few. Stable. Has run strong 24/7 until just recently, and I suspect my new video card is the culprit for that.

Cons: You can't get it anymore.

Other Thoughts: I've been very happy with it. Time for an upgrade though, I usually go every 2 years... this one I rode double that, on and running most all that time. Some blue screens lately, but I suspect the new vid card.

4 out of 5 eggsRIP

Pros: Was my first board I've ever installed. Always been a good casual gaming board, never pushed it to its limit. Worked for 4+ years.

Cons: Tried installing newer ram on it today and I'm not sure what did it (neither is my local computer shop) but whatever happened fried the board. Be careful installing ram and make sure there's zero electricity in the system.

5 out of 5 eggs4+ Years and Going Strong

Pros: Unlocked 4th Core! No Problems yet. Very neat Overclocking tool that lets a noob like myself O.C. the computer without doing squat. I Push a button and the program starts running. Works as advertised what more can you ask for?

Cons: The resolution on the built-in internet surfer or whatever has a poopy resolution if you are widescreen like myself. That's all though!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Mother Board

Pros: Easy to install compatible with my build, good for first timers

Cons: This is more agains the company than the product. EVEN SO this is not a bashing of the product or company but rather a experience written for education.

I bought this motherboard in 2011, i recieved it and had my build done by February(?) it seemed to work fine but suddenly i had problems, it took me one month to diagnose it and eliminate all other components until it was clear that the issue was the mother board (i was/am a EE college student(why is took so long), and had the help of a university CS DR/Professor i know).
After identifying the mb as the issue we sent it back to Gigabyte. When it was returned it was identified that all gigabyte had done was flash the internal ram to reset it(as per policy and procedure) this was found to be ineffective and unnecessary as I (the professor and i ) had already flashed the ram/bios in two different ways 3 different times, and further we had problems. I was able to verify that the RETURNED my board because i had accidentally got a dot of thermal paste on the securing braces for the cpu heat sink mount and when i received the boad back it was there.
AS PER PROCEDURE and POLICY we had to send the board back a second time to Gigabyte, in order for them to actually REPLACE the board and NOT send the same one back.
It buggered me that from start to finish the entire build took me till May of that same year ~ 5 months later to have the build working flawlessly. AND that the procedure is to first flash bios and return before actually replacing it.

ONCE AGAIN the company was helpful, professional and proceeded as they indicated they would. This is just a incident that happened.

5 out of 5 eggspeople are strange

Pros: prob best board available at any price at the time, still a value at its price point. Practically server class,
with its onboard video, and ECC RAM support, and
TONS of SATA-3 (6GB) ports, even a 6GB ESATA port. heck even (2) USB-3 ports, this MB was ahead of its time and can run anything you want from a powerful versatile workstation to a monster gaming rig or to RAID / server duty.
Easily turned many cheap dual core CPU's into quad cores. OC's RAM to 2K, runs tons of different RAM with ease. Looks good doing it !

Cons: that so many crazy people can find so much to complain about with this great product -
unbelievable

Wish I can get this same feature set and port density on matx sized board

Other Thoughts: at the time I spent around 120 bux for it and its a great price for the versatility, stability and performance it provides.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Board with Hidden Problems

Pros: Lots of connections/ports including firewire, video on board. No startup problems, running windows XP after assembling an XP SP3 startup CD using Bart's PE builder.

Cons: No overclocking, standard MS Office/Internet use 24/7, nevertheless the board is rather unstable; it randomly seems to switch off CPU cores every 2-3 months. The internal video processor crashes unpredictably on heavy video use (leading to freezing of screen or total reset + MS 'serious problem' message) once a month. None of this sufficient to warrant replacement, but it is annoying....

Other Thoughts: Bought ASUS board based on previous experience with high ASUS quality, and general reviews in 2011.
No longer so sure ASUS is in the high-quality range (see various reviews), and would consider competitors more seriously in next motherboard purchase.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat board, bad service

Pros: Meets all requirements for my new build, good layout and features. USB3

Cons: Board worked great for about 18 months and then started to get BSOD. Send in for repair and got it back in 1 week. Worked for 4 weeks and BSOD again. Second try for service. Still no board after 10 days.

Other Thoughts: I would given the MB 5 stars but the bad service and confusion at the service center makes me give it 3 stars. In addition the ASUS service line is a nightmare. The sound quality is and has been so bad for several years that it is nearly impossible to understand anyone.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your feedback on this motherboard and with customer service. We're sorry to hear about BSOD's on your system. Can you tell me more about the specific BSOD message you had? Not all BSOD are hardware related--can be caused by software. Please try a BSOD analysis tool here: http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/windows-bsod.html [Dedoimedo.com]. Also, run memtest for several passes to see if there are errors on the memory. Was the system overclocked? If yes, try running a default BIOS settings. To continue support, please email me below, include your hardware setup, configuration, RMA #, BIOS version, and other relevant information for continued support. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Happy

Pros: Had this for just over 2 years and absolutely no complaints. Has performed well running Windows XP SP3, Server 2003, 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 VMs on VirtualBox. (RAM=16GB). BIOS updates are no problem.

Cons: none
