5 out of 5 eggsCheap Love!

Pros: Small form factor with 3.0gbs Sata II, 1156 socket, Full HD 192k/24bit audio through front panel, rear panel and HDMI! Love the sound. VIA HD audio deck software provided on setup DVD ROCKS! Great little app with great little sound bang for the buck. You can also purchase separately the Sony/Phillips SPDIF out accessory and run optical sound out! This is a banging little board for the price. With just CPU increased my gaming speeds with same 8800GTS by 30-50+FPS.

Also, the Q-fan CPU and chassis fan settings (for Performance Optimal and Silent settings) are nice quick and easy and can be set through the bios or the ASUS Probe II utility. I like putting the chassis fan on Silent and CPU on optimal to keep noise down from both but still allow the CPU to auto adjust AND this way keeps the chassis from sucking out all the air in a vortex before the heat sink gets it. Nice! Asus probe II is ok, 37C on CPU and 33C for MB on idle and Max while gaming has been no higher than 43C-CPU 36C MB

Cons: Drivers for VIA audio on website won't work but the ones with the provided driver disk work perfectly. Not taking an egg for the MB because the correct drivers came with the board but definitely giving a big BOO for the Asus website drivers sucking!
No MANUAL TIMINGS FOR RAM only forced speed settings. One of the few ASUS boards that does not SO BE SURE YOU USE 1.5Volt RAM IF YOU WANT 1333MHZ AUTO TIMINGS !!!

Other Thoughts: Had this board for over 10months and it's runing like a champ NO issues what so ever! Core temp puts core one at @26C idle 43CMax and 2nd core within 3 degrees higher. Nice and cool! :) No crashing no bios issues, Bios updating was a snap through the Update Utility in windows with no flash drive needed. I'm giving this 5 eggs because despite the 2 small cons this board has been an amazingly steady and working as advertised board! Also I got the board FREE from a retail chain with an i3-550 bundle last christmas! Last one in the store :) woot! Just wish it had SATA II and USB 3.0 but hardly any h55 chipsets support that. I think only one MSI model that I've found so far and it's not the boards fault it's intels chipset!

PS. All those giving this product minus eggs for the on die Iseries graphics needed to support the onboard DVI, VGA and HDMI slots need to read the product specs more carefully before purchasing and take 2 eggs of your own tech level!

1 out of 5 eggsBeware!!!!

Pros: None that I've seen yet.

Cons: The "onboard video" isn't really onboard video, for it to work you must have an i3 or i5 6xx series processor which have their own video processor. If you use it with an i5 7xx series or an i7 the onboard video WILL NOT WORK. Several sites are selling these as combo's even though they're not compatable. You're getting scammed if you buy one. Even trying to add in a video card still may not work, as some users have found that they have no way to disable the onboard video in the bios, and the add in card won't display anything with it enabled. I happen to be one of those people who got roped in by this scam.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this board. Get something with no onboard video and buy a cheap video card. You'll be better off.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Board, Easy Setup

Pros: I purchased this board as a prototype for our administrative assistant's replacement PC. With this motherboard I bought:

Intel Core i3 540
WD 250G HD
2x2 Kingston Value RAM (1333Mhz)
OCZ ModXstream 500w PSU
Centurion Micro-ATX 540/541 Case

The board fit very nicely into the case I selected. Booted up on first power on. Configured BIOS to run memory @ 1333Mhz (page 2-12 of manual, section 2.4.2) and Configured the onboard Video to use more system RAM than setup at default.

Windows 7 Professional x64 easily installed, and all device drivers work.

Overall I am very please with the performance of this setup and would reccomend it for the business environment.

Cons: There are no pins on this motherboard for the case speaker. There are pins only for 1 fan. However, you could always use a 4 pin fan powered off of the PSU. Thermally, the case I chose has great airflow and I found only 1 fan is necessary.

Other Thoughts: I read the other two reviews for this motherboard, and I didn't experience any of their issues.

1 out of 5 eggsNot one well

Pros: Huh... Looks pretty?

Cons: Unreliable.

Other Thoughts: This motherboard has been a nightmare for me. What should have been a simple upgrade has turned into a two month process that is ending with me buying a different board. The first board wouldn't allow me to install Windows 7 x64. It would take hours and ultimately end in a blue screen. flashing the BIOS made no difference. New Egg RMA'd the board for me and the next one I was able to install Windows 7 x64 on it. I am using an Intel SSD boot drive and Intel i3-550 Clarkdale. The machine randomly reboots or Windows 7 registers an error (various services) and shutdowns and restarts. These kinds of problems are extremely difficult to troubleshoot. I am going to replace the PQI Turbo RAM, but I have run extended memory tests on it and it passes so I doubt that's the problem. Stability was improved when I updated all the Windows 7 drivers for the motherboard (chipset etc.) so I suspect bad drivers/hardware as the suspect. I have never had issues with ASUS before. Very dissapointing!

Pros: Nice board

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if newegg told you that you need to buy processor that supports video.
