1 out of 5 eggsDead board

Pros: Worked fine for a year.

Cons: MB died after a year. Power will turn on for a second then turn off. First thought was maybe its the power supply, so I bought a new one. Same issue. I then bought a used Mother Board. The system powers on now.

Other Thoughts: Troubleshooting; Made sure everything was connected, then I reconnected. Then bought a new power supply, then a used MB which fixed the issue.
How can I get my money back?

5 out of 5 eggsNo issues just amazing gaming

Pros: This was such an easy install and set up. Built it and turned it on and never had any issue what so ever.

Cons: with the gen 6 cards out would be nice to have 3.0 and the option of going all out on memory speed. 1866 is still fast.

Other Thoughts: This board has OC capabilities that i haven't even tried yet. I can't stress how much i love it but i guess it comes down to how they are handled once they leave the warehouse cuz i'm seeing a lot of dead boards here. I would even by a used board cuz if it's working you should never have any problem. Just keep the bios current

1 out of 5 eggsSame old thing

Pros: I've ran out.

Cons: I'm at a loss for words. I wrote the review on 12/21 and finally had to contact the BBB to get my issue resolved. I sent back the 3rd defective board and did another RMA. My 4th board booted up fine but had the same cold boot SLI issue as my first board. The 4th board also had a cracking sound through the audio when it booted but I was actually happy with simply having to reboot after every fresh boot and ignoring the pooping sound when booting. Far from perfect but it was better than the last 6 months of RMA's.

Well, the audio just completely went out on me. Sent an email requesting a call from the last support person I talked to and they told me to call in.

Sure, after 6 months of trying to get it fixed and having to contact the BBB to get any type of resolution, now I have to call the regular support number and be on hold for an hour just to start the nightmare over again.

Other Thoughts: If you every buy another Asus motherboard you are one brave soul and probably a little foolish.

1 out of 5 eggsSabertooth Junk

1 out of 5 eggsASUS warranty support is horrible

Pros: Never worked as it should

Cons: From the start I've had issues running sli. I would need to reboot after a cold boot in order for the mb to load both graphics cards. I seldom rebooted my computer so there was little concern until I moved and started shutting down my computer every night. I filed for and RMA 4 months ago and now ASUS is trying to screw me over on the RMA. They sent me a defective MB(dead 1st dim slot and dead 1st PCI slot) and forced me to send my origional back. Then they made me do an additional RMA for the faulty one they sent me only to send me another board that wouldn't even post. When I sent that one back for an RMA they declined it and said it had physical damage.

I have worked in IT all my life, i'm A+ certified, and have a full tower case. There is 0 chance I damaged the MB and now they are going to try and charge me 180 bucks for a defective product they sent me as well as they have declined the RMA for the previous defective MB they sent me. I'm pretty much stuck now with 2 bad boards and i'm out $180, four months, and a bunch of time wasted on the phone.

Buyer beware.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board !

Pros: Owned this board for almost two years now, and am very satisfied! Comes with status lights for every major component, and the built in over clock profiles are a godsend! Sent my I7 960 from 3.2 to 3.86 no hassle at all! I eventually manually set it to 4.3, but its nice to have that built in over clocker. Six RAM slots makes for triple channel also. Big plus.

Cons: The first two PCI-E 16x slots are too close together! I initially SLI'd two side exhaust GTS 450's, and the first one hit 95 C! No room for air flow. Eventually upgraded to 2 rear exhaust GTX 570's, and those didn't provide too much an issue as side exhaust was not a factor. However that was an irritating problem. Also, the third PCI-e slot is so far down the board that a dual profile card would press down on the USB , Audio, and case wiring headers. So tri SLI remains impossible unless a water cooling solution is reached, as the third card would have to be single profile.

Other Thoughts: Northbridge runs hot, seen it hit 85C

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Have been using this board for almost two years now - have not had any problems from it and still runs great all the ports still worked just recently put additional ram into it and did not have any problems

Cons: No Cons at all

5 out of 5 eggsBest one yet

Pros: Fantastic board, provides excelent over clocking of both CPU and Memory (i7 920 Bloomfield @3.43Ghz well within safe voltage limit, 6gig ocz gold series 1433mhz stable at 1.65v). Using OCZ Agility SATA3 SSD hooked into sata 1 of the 2 6gbs avail, windows rating went up from the typical 5.9 to an impressive 7.3. this board is everything the specs say it is.

Cons: None, and I am oretty certain asus is correct, if you have had to replace the board more than once then perhaps ur skll level is not up to par as you may have thought, asus has been arround for a long time and have always released great mainboards. and the board is discontinued because LGA 1366 is no longer a socket used by intel. Duh.

Other Thoughts: would have this boards baby if possible.

3 out of 5 eggsJust ok, network problems

Pros: Solid motherboard, looks cool too

Cons: The on-board network controller DID NOT WORK AT ALL. My friend and I bought (extra $40) + installed a 3rd party network adapter card in order to get this computer plugged into the net. This took extensive testing and driver updates in order to get working... and I am afraid to ever reinstall the Operating System because the network just bugs out that much.. even with the new card installed.

Other Thoughts: This motherboard makes me anxious all the time, I feel like everytime I restart the computer I won't have internet!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

Is the onboard network controller detected in Device Manager? If it is, please install the drivers from the our website (http://support.asus.com, search for Sabertooth X58). To enable the network controller, please go to BIOS > Advanced and enable RTL8110SC LAN. Do you see status LED indicators on the port? Can the LAN adapter receive an IP address?

You do have the option to RMA the motherboard if you believe that the network controller is faulty. To RMA the board, please submit a RMA request at http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx or call 1-812-282-2787.

To continue troubleshooting, please send an email to cl-benson@asus.com reference #C1037-4444.
