5 out of 5 eggsRuns great, looks great, 4 years and counting

Pros: Still kicking after 4 years, not a single hardware issue. The Asus AI suite was installed long ago though - brought nothing but problems. Hardware is what I made the purchase for, so still 5 eggs.

Cons: LGA1366 is done, but this chip/board still holds its own esp with some OCing.

Other Thoughts: Rebuilt PC and used this board from another build, felt compelled to write a review. It has its limitations on specs when compared to 2014/2015 boards, and LGA1366 is what it is.

5 out of 5 eggsYou can't beat this board.

Pros: Solid construction, perfect amount and type of ports, cpu socket lets you get an intel bloomberg i7 (awesome cpu). The bios is incredible, with all the over-clocking options you'd ever need. POST is extremely informative and saves you a bunch of time when putting together your machine.

Cons: None -- even the color is perfect.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a customizable bios you've found one with this board. It's an over-clocker's dream board. Buy it already.

3 out of 5 eggsLousy aftermarket support

Pros: tri-SLI, Triple channel RAM, easy overclocking, auto-resets to defaults after failed overclocking attempt

Cons: First: The drivers that came on CD and the drivers on the web site never worked for the X-Fi sound. The Creative Labs software said it couldn't find a supported chip. Asus support said I could RMA the board back. Okay, big disappointment but I'm not taking a working motherboard out of my best PC to replace on-board sound. They probably knew that was a problem with a whole bunch of version 1.xx owners. I bought an aftermarket Sound Blaster Extreme.

Second: Huge!!! Can't use a >2TB HD for your Windows 7 operating system. Windows 7 64 bit has no problem formatting my 3TB drive as GPT partition but you can't boot from it because they never added UEFI to the BIOS. It could have and should have been done, but the didn't. I'm sure it was to drive people to upgrade to their newer Rampage IV boards. I paid a whole lot of money for this high-end board and it should have received better aftermarket support. Their were other boards at the time of my purchase that had UEFI but I didn't know to look for it and had been an Asus Fan-boy for 20 years. NO MORE! Gigabyte, here I come!!!

Other Thoughts: I've owned Asus products since the early 90's when they were an up and coming generic like Samsung used to be as well. I think my P2B-N with an overclocked Celeron is still running in a relatives garage. Their quality and support has dwindled over the decades and I have had the last straw.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: Everything about the board except...

Cons: The advertised SATA 6Gb/s.

Other Thoughts: My Only Complaint: Almost a year since I purchased this board. After purchasing an SSD and attempting to install Win7 to try to reach the advertised 6Gb/s, I found after much work and research that it wasn't happening. I wanted to give this board 5 stars but the failure on the part of Asus to do anything about the Sata/Marvell issue bothers me. Don't get me wrong: I love everything about this board. I'm just disappointed about a feature that should have been tested BEFORE selling the product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

The Marvell (red) SATA ports are capable of 6 Gb/s on the interface. Actual speeds vary depending on SSD used. Can you tell me what speeds you're getting on your drive (benchmark results), the drive you're using, and issues with the ports? My email is reference #C1037-4047.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo!

Pros: So far this motherboard has been working great! I've owned it for over a year and have not had any issues. I love the features it gives for over clocking and diagnosing hard ware issues, although I have not had any.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS FOR LIFE

Pros: WOW...This is truly an amazing board. The ROG connect is simply mind blowing. This board is so far ahead of its competitors its not even funny. Don't believe the negative responses, this board is pure win.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I have used Asus for 7 years now and nothing but good reviews. Their warranty is the best out there, but the tech support is a bit lacking. I just simply request an RMA fight out of the gate.

1 out of 5 eggsMy worst NewEgg purchse yet...

Pros: Comes in a cool box with stickers for your sata cables.

Cons: Didnt recognize 5 different hdd and 2 ssd of 10 total drives.
SATA III 6G does not exist on this board!

I am reviewing it after deactivation, but in case you are thinking about buying this any way, don't.

Other Thoughts: My first and last ASUS purchase...

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast for PCI-e 2.0 graphics, and can SLI!

Cons: The worst SATA III 6Gb/s controller.

I get nowhere near the speeds my SSD should be getting, I'm limited to 380MB/s, which is not the 550MB/s sata 6 should be at with my SSD.

I really regret getting this board due to this reason.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't Be Back

Pros: Looks pretty.

Cons: When I first got this board, it was dead on arrival. Nothing whatsoever. This lead to a 4 month struggle with Asus to get it replaced, which they eventually did, and required me to pay shipping to return their dead product (I won't be back, Asus). Also, it has no onboard graphics. YES, if you're a gamer, you don't want onboard graphics, but it would be nice to have something if only for troubleshooting's sake. Does not have USB 3.0 support so I can hook my case's USB 3.0 ports onto the board. Also, obviously, LGA 1366, which is dead and worthless...
I would stay away from this board. And Asus.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board. Period.

Pros: Smaller than my old P5Q-Deluxe. Heat sinks more than adequate for overclocking. Easy install for all components all-around. Not sure what some people are complaining about with the RAM install/recognition (*see below).

Cons: None to speak of.

Other Thoughts: After reading some of the negative reviews, I was a bit weary but pulled the trigger anyway. Glad I did. 4 months ownership and not a hitch. 12G 1600 RAM and i7 960 OC'd to 4012mHz easy peasy. Folding at -smp 8 with temps no higher than 73c at 72F ambient temp on air. And for all of you complaining about RAM not being recognized - turn down your overclock and pump more voltage into your DIMMs. Or buy low voltage RAM (1.25v) like I did. Your processor in tandem with Windows 7 is only using what it can still deem stable. This is user error, not system/mobo error.
