2 out of 5 eggsMisleading features, DOA

Pros: It's a nice looking motherboard. It screws very solidly to the frame of your computer.

Cons: Product was DOA.

More than that, though. This mobo purports itself as SLI/Crossfire capable. However, the 2nd PCI-E port sits directly next to all of the essential cable functions and connections. There is absolutely NO room for a card of any size to sit in the 2nd port. What good is having two GTX 570s if you can't turn the computer on because the 2nd one prevents anything from being connected on your motherboard?

5 out of 5 eggsWow. If you're waiting, don't.

Pros: Everything. The specs on this board are all over the tech sites and exhaustively reviewed. It sold out right before I purchased but New Egg got another lot in and looking at the other sites it's selling well. I haven't experienced the issues others describe in their ratings. There isn't an area where it's let me down yet.

With everything onboard I am able to get rid of the discrete video card and a USB 3.0 daughterboard so it looks very clean in the case.

Love the heat sinks. Less fans are better. Deadly quiet.

Cons: Setting the boot order with six SATA devices was a little squirrelly but it looks like bios update 1204 may have resolved it.

Other Thoughts: I decided to roll the dice and get 8GB of G.Skill memory developed for the P/H67 chipset instead of ordering off the QVL. No issues so far. I replaced a long in the tooth AMD quad core and with the i5 2500's Quick Sync my video encoding times dropped from 45 minutes to around 8 minutes (not apples to apples comparison but that's one reason I bought it).

This thing is hooked to an SSD, three SATA HDs, two SATA optical drives, a UBS 3.0 portable drive, using on-board video and Windows 7 x64. As I mentioned, there hasn't been a downside yet. It's run non-stop for 10 days now as I reencode my library with newer software that takes advantage of Quick Sync.

I'm a long time ASUS customer (a love/hate relationship depending on which motherboard we're talking about) and an exclusive AMD customer until now. The price / performance on this is amazing and I didn't see a reason to wait for AMD's Fusion.

Unless you want to overcook then save your $$$ and get this one.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all cost, will replace

Pros: Kudos to Newegg for no-hassel return policy
BIOS interface is nice.

Cons: Embeded graphics driver problems galore
Asus Support

Other Thoughts: What a dissapointment. I bought this MB specifcally to use the on-board graphics potential and every display and cable I use has flickering on web pages and artifact problems. Also some program windows show up as being semi-transparent.

I am going to add a video card to the system and see if that works otherwise I am going to use a different MB.

Asus phone support is horrible

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsRelief - This one works

Pros: ASUS reputation. Components look to be high quality ones. Attractive fit & finish. Have been using ASUS/Intel packages for 20 years building my systems. Very few problems.

Can't give it 5 eggs, just because I haven't had time to burn it in yet.

Cons: Uncertainty. I never cared for being the new kid on the block. Always prefered to lag behind in the technology sector while manufacturers worked the bugs out and things got a little cheaper.

Other Thoughts: Rebuilt one of my computers that was giving me some trouble last November using a P7H57D-V EVO. Should have waited.

I decided to splurge on 16GB of low voltage G.Skill DDR-3 to see what would happen editing video and sound files. The system never booted with more than 1 stick/4GB of memory. Tried everything I could think of then called ASUS, G.Skill, Intel and New Egg tech support several times. Never did get to BIOS w/ more than 4 GB of memory installed.

Eventually bought some Corsair Value Select. But even with that, the full complement of module puts ASUS MEM-OK in a schizophrenic loop that won't boot. It runs w/ 8GB. now.

Waited and ordered this 1155 board when available, pairing it with an i5-2500 K. Those arrived Monday. Tuesday night I took apart an older XP system and installed the new motherboard, CPU and the original 16GB of G.Skill memory I bought in November. In 2 hours the system booted into BIOS on the 1st try @16,000+ RAM.

Anyone looking for an 1156 boad?

3 out of 5 eggsOnce system is up, works good

Pros: - Works stable, one it booted
- 2 PWM cooler headers (+1 regular)
- USB3 + SATA 600
- UEFI Bios
- Plenty of options: powered USB (for charging), USB, Firewire, eSATA etc etc
- Besides separate SATA setting IDE/AHCI/RAID, it has Hot Pluggable (On/Off).

Cons: - BIOS is not rock solid yet
- Sometimes system won't boot. It is just stuck with black screen and blinking cursor like boot device is not ready See below). It is like it can't even get the boot sector
- Any BIOS change assumes "Apply changes & Reset". This is hard-wired to UI. Even, boot order, time etc.
- 7.8 Gb out of 8Gb with or without discrete video card. In 32 bit (Windows + PAE or Linux) or 64 bit OS (Any)
- Memory settings allow ..., 1333, 1600 and higher settings but would freeze on anything above 1333 with proper delays and voltage (See below)

Other Thoughts: For boot problem: It is the same for a couple of different HDDs, DVD-ROM and bootable flash card. All this media was working flawless with another motherboard, H55 based Asus, LG775 Asus and 785G AM3 Gigabyte. So it is 100% motherboard problem. Have to press reset, so it might (with the same odds) boot next time. Odds are approx 33%/66% for boot fail or boot success accordingly.
There is no dependency if it is cold or hot reboot (Turn on/reset button/restart). Very annoying for headless configuration. Oce it is booted it is rock stable though. Hope, next BIOS ill fix it.

For memory speed. I know, H67 is not supposed to go above 1333. But for this case BIOS shoul not allow to set it up above 1333 than if it can't

5 out of 5 eggsNice board packed with features

Pros: High quality board with a great color scheme. Layout is great. EFI bios is cool. Worked great with no hiccups from the start.

Cons: None So far.

Other Thoughts: Why? WHY? WHY? do manufacturers keep wasting precious landscape space with PATA connectors. You can get Sata dvd burners for dirt cheap, and IDE cables are space hogs; and not natively supported by the new P67/H67 chipsets. Was going to get P8P67-M Pro, but it was sold out. Glad I didn't. Don't need on board video, but I did need a PCI slot, again, not natively supported, but my wifi card is PCI. I don't OC so there wasn't a need for the P67, and this boards heat sinks are nicer looking than the Pro.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks for me

Pros: Got this for a new home server build to replace an aging Shuttle build. Everything seemed to do what it is supposed to do. New EFI bios is nifty, but it's just an eye candy upgrade from the old system I've known and loved for over half of my life near as I can tell. Fanless is nice. Every port I could want.

Cons: Changing the clock in the BIOS required a restart of the system in order to save the settings. Every other setting could just be saved in place, but not the clock. Also, the scroll bars on the windows don't actually scroll. You can click the up or down arrows on the top of them to scroll, but clicking the actual bar & dragging up & down just laughs at my futile attempts. Dropped an egg b/c this is just shoddy to me. I would expect it to be fixed in a future BIOS update. Every once in awhile immediately after POST it resets itself and then works fine. VERY rare, but happens. Maybe a power problem I should investigate further..... Otherwise too new to actually let you know how reliable it turns out to be.
