3 out of 5 eggsNeed Assistance

Pros: discontinued so does not matter.

Cons: readn other thoughts

Other Thoughts: After having this motherboard for nearly 2 years i cannot complain. except i recently received an error code of FF from the diagnostics board when i turn my computer on. It then turns itself off. After that it will turn back on and repeat this cycle until i turn it off via the power switch on the PSU. My first thought was that it was a PSU issue. I bought a new PSU and case. I had the same issue. I pulled all non-essential parts out of the motherboard and still had the same issue. pleas either send me a new model or replace this existing model so i can get my computer back up and running.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsthis is for benson

Pros: hey benson i need yor help, im an owner of this and other asus boards and truly love the products/quality/service etc but im getting a machine check exception error on it. originally i bought it for gamming but replaced it with max 5 formula and put the p67 board in a htpc. but all i get now is the error MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION. my question? is it the board or the 2600k? only thing that bugs me about the board is that i could not change the bios back from 2105 to before ivybridge and as for everything else has stayed the same, i dont really want to by another 3rd gen cpu for it as i have the completely good 2nd gen ( or do i ) so what do you think?

2 out of 5 eggsDon't upgrade to windows 8 with this board yet

Pros: Good, reliable hardware. 2x16 pcie, looks nice in my case.

Cons: Asus seems to have forgotten about this board, which is too bad because it's a great board, and I thought one of their flagship motherboards.

We still have no Windows 8 drivers, for me this means issues with my onboard LAN not always being detected at boot up (and requiring a "scan for hardware changes" to get it working again). Also the USB 3.0 isn't correctly detected.

Another issue I'm seeing, which is minor, is that I've updated my CPU from a sandy bridge to ivy bridge. The process was easy after a bios update, but the ivy bridge stock fan spins up to a really high speed during boot... I'm guessing as the system takes a minute to take control. This is more of a slight annoyance, but an annoyance all the same.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8 came out a little over a year after I acquired this board from Newegg, I like Asus, but if they can't update drivers for a board that is less than a year old, they should make less boards. Especially considering the price tag on one of these high end boards.

I don't know many people that expect a motherboard purchase to be irrelevant in one year.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about your experience with the P8P67 WS Revolution. Unfortunately there are currently no Windows 8 LAN drivers available for this motherboard on our website. However, Windows 8 should already include drivers for both LAN controllers, Intel® 82574L and Intel® 82579 and the NEC USB 3.0 controller. We did not observe "scan for hardware changes" prompt after restart or shutdown with the LAN controller. When plugging a USB device into both USB 3.0 ports worked as expected.

Testing was done under a clean install Windows 8 Enterprise 64bit RTM.

The stock Intel CPU fan speed running at high speed at boot is normal.

If you like to continue support, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com (reference #C1037-6661 in the subject line) with your OS version and your BIOS version.

Benson

1 out of 5 eggsNot Pleased

Pros: Lots of different ports for any accessory you might add

Cons: Caught on fire by the 1394 port the first time I put power to it. After Asus having it a month said they would not warranty the item. I have built close to 20 computers in the past year with Asus parts, and not had an issue tell this one. I am sure I installed the part right, but they will not warranty. Will not be using there parts again if they will not warranty items.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good mostly

Pros: Board has worked great for me, i must be one of the lucky ones cause i see a lot of complaints below. I have been using this board for over a year with only one issue cited below. I have upgraded bios a few times with no issues and i am a gamer so i use my system daily for long sessions

Cons: Only issue I have had is that one of the sata ports quit working. luckily i had not used all ports so i was able to switch t oa different one and everything is fine. its pretty disapointing that I am without a sata port though.

1 out of 5 eggsNot what it says.

Pros: It seemed like a good price for what it had.

Cons: The BIOs it has is trash and failed in many different parts of the startup. The "Crash Free" system they have causes more issue than it fixes and there is no way of getting around it trying to take over the start up process. No way to update or flash the BIOs without starting it up which was impossible to do. Does not support an Ivy Bridge processor like it says it does. Worthless support from ASUS. No documentation on this "Crash Free" system or any trouble shooting help in the booklet it came with. Actually I can't find any info on the "Crash Free" garbage that they want to force on it. No onboard video output (It does state that). The hex codes on the little diagnostics board change to fast to be any good. The AAFP slot is in a weird place compared to the other slots. I would not recommend this board to anyone. I have been an ASUS fan in the past but more and more they have been disappointing me. Don't trust that they will work with what you have, or that you can even get an answer from them on support.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is a good site. Called about my problem and will be getting 85% of my money back to get another board. Can't believe I wasted this much time and effort trying to get this trashy board to work.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the BIOS on the motherboard.

The CrashFree feature allows you to recover BIOS in the event that it becomes corrupted or usable and will only be initiate when BIOS is under this condition. To use CrashFree, simply load the latest BIOS ROM file to a USB drive or CD/DVD disk and CrashFree will automatically start.

The motherboard supports Ivy Bridge CPU's with BIOS version of at least 2003. Please see here for a list of CPU's supported by BIOS version: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_WS_Revolution/#CPUS. In the event that you receive a motherboard with older BIOS, you can use a Sandy Bridge CPU to update it to the latest BIOS. Otherwise, you can bring the motherboard to a local computer shop and have them flash the BIOS for you (for a small fee), RMA the motherboard to our service center and we will update it for you free of charge, or purchase an updated BIOS from our eStore at http://estore.asus.com.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at cl-benson@asus.com. Reference #C1037-4829 in the subject line and include your hardware setup and specs for faster reply.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Affordable
Loaded with options

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: Once I flashed the BIOS, my Ivy Bridge worked without fail. Planning to order another 24GB of RAM and a new video card. Even still, it tears through everything I throw at it.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Has nifty little lights that tell you when a component isn't working. Makes RMAing a dead board that much easier decision to make.

Cons: First board was DOA.... It happens
Second board was loaded with older BIOS rendering it unable to boot with the processor I ordered (3570).
Don't order unless you plan to order an older processor or happen to have another older LGA1155 that you can use to boot it and flash the bios.
Or are willing to send it back to ASUS and get them to do it.

Other Thoughts: Selling a higher end board that can't boot from the most modern processors is a bad idea and should certainty be noted in the details page that it might ship with out of date bios.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

As you stated, if you happen to have a motherboard that has older BIOS, you can use an older CPU to update the BIOS. Please see here to see what CPU is supported by BIOS version: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_WS_Revolution/#CPUSYou can bring the motherboard to a local computer shop and pay a small fee to have them flash an updated BIOS, RMA the motherboard to our service center for BIOS update (no charge), or purchase an updated BIOS chip from our eStore (http://estore.asus.com).

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: See other thoughts

Cons: See other thoughts

Other Thoughts: After playing with settings, Benson suggested I did not had my computer lock up and ports shut down, so I add 2 eggs for the board. To be fair, the long post does relate to my ram, but it still should not be as long as it takes. Also after I changed the settings - it is better now. (why wasn't those default?)
Here is my config:
asus p8p67 deluxe (same as ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION, just different video chipset)
i7 2600k + hyper 212 plus
8gb corsair vengeance (4gb x 2)
asus gtx 560
corsair hx 850w psu
sumsung ssd 830 x 2
500 wd caviar black
1tb seagate barracuda.
asus dvd-rw

I still think warranty is too short, especially since other manufacturers have 3 years.
So basically for now my computer works satisfactory, I'll post an update if the problem persists (it's only been 1 day so far). I'm currently logging all my hardware behavior and will examine it later as well.

2 out of 5 eggsP8P67 boards

Pros: A lot of options, usb3, dual ethernet, not that many

Cons: Please, read other thoughts for clarity.
1) From the start it would restart 2-3 times before post, it took about 3-4 month to semi-fix it with bios upgrades. The problem still is not completely fixed(the board doesn't restart, but bios does).
2) Overclock. As soon as you overclock, even a little (change multiplier to 44) this board - it will take about 1-1.5 minutes just to pass post. really? This suppose to be overclocker's board.
3) It randomly disconnects usb devices, and cuts of power to usb ports. Have to hard reset computer few times a day, sometimes every 10 minutes. Then wait for a long post...
4) After 6 month of ownership and as soon as bios started to semi-function (first problem I mentioned) - Asus dropped maintenance for this board and doesn't develop new bios or give new version of drivers on their web-site.

Other Thoughts: A little more then a year ago I bought ASUS P8P67 Deluxe board, which is now known as ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION with a little video chipset upgrade. ASUS has discontinued my board, but I want to write a review from long-term owner point of view since these boards are the same. I run multiple different OS and can confirm that all issues I have - are hardware issues. I own a lot of Asus devices, but in my opinion they really dropped the ball, so I will not buy another Asus mobo or videocard. The issues I described also present in my Asus gaming laptop (apart from overclock, since you can't overclock laptop). And again after about 6 month they dropped maintenance and development of bios and drivers. So if you want your devices to have long-term support - buy something else.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Regarding multi-boot issue at power on, please try going to UEFI > Advanced > APM > enable Power on by PCIe, save and exit. If by BIOS restarting, try going to UEFI > Boot > Option ROM Messages > set to Keep Current. If you experience long boot time, it may be due to memory tuning and large DIMM size. Please try leaving only a single DIMM in the recommended slot and retest. Any difference?

Try the following if you have USB disconnect/reconnect issue:

Uninstall the USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers and restarting the system to allow Windows to reinstall it. Third, try to turn Selective Suspend feature off by going to Power Options > Advanced > USB settings > USB Selective Suspend Setting > Disabled. Lastly, go to Device manager, click on a Root USB Hub > uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

To continue support, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com reference #c1037-4361. Include your hardware setup and specs for faster service.
