1 out of 5 eggsDead Video

Pros: Worked nicely until now.

Cons: Last night when I attempted to re-boot my computer, it wouldn't post nor display video. Tried talking to support two times, but the rep both times didn't say one word.

Other Thoughts: Bad customer support.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsno post, stopped on video

Pros: I have two other p8h61-m boards and they're perfect. One has w7, one Ubuntu, and flawless both of them. This board, not sure what is going on yet...

Cons: this p8h61-m le/csm might have bad video--but I wonder if it could be an uefi problem! Still troubleshooting...

An earlier poor review said one of these stops on vga--I wonder if I have that board now. I got this one a little over a month ago and finally got a chance to assemble it. Sometimes it works, sometimes not--and stops on video (but not always). I've tried different cords, both dvi and vga, I've tried running onboard Intel vs. a video card, but the silly thing wont consistently fail in the same way, about 2/3rds of the time no video, occasionally I get hardware failure beeps (three short one long) and very rarely I get a four beep fail, ha!

Other Thoughts: Have a hunch UEFI is giving me some problem, going to keep troubleshooting for awhile.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

Since the issue is intermittent, can you try setting Initiate Graphic Adapter to iGPU if using onboard video and PGE/iGPU if using discrete video card.

A recent version of BIOS was released: 4401 dated 10/12/2012 that may address the issue. Please try updating to this version to see if there's improvement.

One long beep and three short beeps correspond to a VGA issue either with the discrete video card, onchip graphics in the CPU, or onboard video on motherboard.

To continue support, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com. Reference #C1037-5115 in the subject line, and include CPU model and video card used.

Regards,
Benson

Pros: Good bored `

Cons: everything worls well but the onbored sound does not and with me going wifi i have no room for a sound card so kinda put me in a differ and asus has no clue what with what the hell there doing when you call

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

Please make sure that HD Audio Controller is Enabled in UEFI > Advanced > Onboard Device Configuration. Do you see Audio device/controller in Windows Device Manager? If yes, install the drivers from our website at: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8H61M_LE/#download. If no, please RMA the motherboard to us by completing the form at http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx or call 1-812-282-2787.

This motherboard has 2 PCIe 1X slots for PCIe addon cards so you may populate both Wi-fi and sound cards in each slot. It also has 1 PCI slot for legacy PCI cards.

Benson

1 out of 5 eggsVery Poor Quality - twice

Pros: I am a system builder, and have used this board in many systems, and have only had a couple of issues. When it works it is a decent budget board.

Cons: This past week I have had 2 bad mobos, right out of the box. The first would not post, stopped on video. Could not get video, POST test confirmed, bad.

So I RMA'd that one, then bought another one because I could not wait. I get the new one I bought, as I pick it up from the box, I see inside the bag, one of the caps is bent over, broken from the lead on the motherboard.

2 in a row is too much. Either ASUS quality is gone down, or Newegg is repacking them and not checking to see if they are working. Horrible quality control, whoever is at fault.

After 8 years of using ASUS I am looking at other options.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize that both motherboards you received were DOA.

Can you tell me the CPU you're using on this motherboard and whether you're using on-board graphics or discrete video card (please state brand/model)? Have you tried switching video cable or monitor? My email is cl-benson@asus.com reference #C1037-2688.

Since a defective part was found on the motherboard, please consider RMA'ing it for repair or replacement.

Again, I'm sorry that the motherboards had problems at start. I hope you new replacement will ork without trouble.

Benson

5 out of 5 eggsVery Solid Mobo

Pros: Very nice motherboard for what you're paying, comes with a ton of features you might find useful

Cons: If you plan on putting a full sized video card in, you're going to cover up one pci-e slot and you won't have enough room inbetween the video card and the bottom pci-e to make it feasible. If you plan on using atleast one of them, look into some video cards which are specifically made to take up only a single slot.

Other Thoughts: Was a little annoying to put this one into my new tower, but thats on a case by case basis.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Warranty Kudos

Pros: Had an issue at the 10 month mark...was a warranty skeptic but ASUS did the right thing and stood behind their product.
3 weeks from the time I mailed it off til I had it back and working.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It's good to see a company follow through with their warranty. Unlike some other companies that run you in circles til it's not worth your time, ASUS is top notch IMYEXP.

5 out of 5 eggsGood performance and price.

Pros: It was my first time assembling a pc, and i chose this motherboard. I dont regret it at all. Works quite well. I installed a i3-2100 into it and suprisingly had no problems (being a beginner) the lever when I secured down the cpu made a gut wrenching creak noise but everything was fine.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Once again, great price. Works very well.

5 out of 5 eggsaffordable

Pros: Affordable. Works out of the box, all drivers functioned properly.

Cons: For the price I cannot complain. Alternatively this is not the greatest board for a high performance PC.
