ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, your dream motherboard, offers you a great platform to build your power house with the second generation Intel Core CPUs and releases the full potential of your system. It utilizes the new generation Dual Intelligent Processors 2 - EPU (Energy Processing Unit) and TPU (TurboV Processing Unit), coupled with DIGI+ VRM, to precisely, dynamically and intelligently adjust power supply to achieve optimized performance, extreme system stability and greater power efficiency. The brand new Smart Response technology speeds up data loading by caching your frequently accessed data using an installed SSD, bringing your SSD-like performance and huge capacity of HDD at an affordable price point. The LucidLogix Virtu technology offers you flexibility to switch between IGP and discrete graphics card based on load level, helping achieve a perfect balance between power consumption and noise level.

An array of latest, nice features is included to help you make the most and best out of your system, including EFI BIOS for easy, user-friendly setup, GPU boost function that levels up integrated GPU performance, USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps for lightning fast data transfer, Bluetooth technology for enhanced connectivity, Intel Gigabit LAN and AI Suite II for one-stop access to innovative ASUS features. Best of all, the Quad-GPU SLI and Quad-GPU CrossFireX support multiplies graphics performance to deliver the best possible game experience for hardcore gamers.

  • newegg DIGI+ VRM ASUS DIGI+ VRM is an innovative, industry-leading technology that fully integrates Intel VRD12 specifications on a native level, greatly enhancing power to go far beyond the limits of analog designs. ASUS DIGI+ VRM acts as a digital controller to perfectly match digital power signal (SVID) requests from the CPU, eliminating digital-to-analog conversion lag. The exclusive dual driver and MOS design doubles the heat dissipation area with expanded cooling surfaces for improved thermal performance. Spacing components out over a wider area speeds up cooling to enhance reliability and stability. The same exclusive dual driver and MOS design also provides twice the CPU power supply with two complete power stages. This results in far greater phase load tolerances, so the CPU never has to wait for power to arrive, increasing performance and overclocking potential.
  • newegg TPU & EPU The TPU chip offers precise voltage control and advanced monitoring through Auto Tuning and TurboV functions. Auto Tuning offers a user friendly way to automatically optimize the system for fast, yet stable clock speeds, while TurboV enables unlimited freedom to adjust CPU frequencies and ratios for optimized performance in diverse situations. The EPU chip provides a real-time, dynamic power saving by automatically detecting current PC loadings and intelligently moderating power consumption. This also reduces fan noise and extends component longevity!
  • newegg Intel Smart Response Technology Faster Access, Bigger Storage Intel Smart Response Technology boosts overall system performance. It uses an installed fast SSD (min 18.6GB available) as a cache for frequently accessed operations, speeding up hard drive/main memory interaction. Key benefits are expedited hard drive speeds, reduced load and wait times and maximized storage utilization. Power consumption also goes down by reducing unnecessary hard drive spin, an important part of Green ASUS eco-friendly computing.
  • newegg LucidLogix Virtu LucidLogix Virtu is designed for the Intel Sandy Bridge platform's powerful integrated graphics. Its GPU virtualization dynamically assigns tasks to the best available graphics resources based on power, performance and system load on Windows 7 based PCs. It allows users to fully utilize the unique capabilities of advanced Sandy Bridge multimedia features alongside the high end 3D rendering performance provided by installed graphics cards. When no discrete graphics are needed, the graphics card is put in idle mode to lower utilization, heat, fan speed and power draw down to near zero, making the system more environmentally-friendly. For users with diverse needs, LucidLogix Virtu GPU virtualization provides great flexibility and efficiency.
  • newegg UEFI BIOS ASUS UEFI BIOS offers a user-friendly interface that goes beyond traditional keyboard-only BIOS controls to enable more flexible and convenient mouse input. Users can easily navigate the UEFI BIOS with the smoothness of their operating system. Quick and simple overclocking and setup sharing is facilitated by the F12 hotkey BIOS snapshot feature. The exclusive EZ Mode displays frequently-accessed setup info, while the Advanced Mode is for experienced performance enthusiasts that demand far more intricate system control, including detailed DRAM information. ASUS UEFI BIOS natively supports hard drives larger than 2.2TB in 64-bit, with full storage space utilization helping deliver far more exciting computing than traditional BIOS versions.
  • newegg Extra USB 3.0 & SATA III The Asus P8Z68-V PRO is equipped with two rear USB 3.0 ports and supports two front panel USB 3.0 port for lightning fast data transfer speed of 5Gbps - up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. The SATA 6Gbps support enables blistering fast data transfer of twice the speed of SATA revision II to reduce the system bottleneck and radically improve overall performance.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MOBO

Pros: -Clean good looks
-Great Asus Software
-The EZ bios setup is nice feature
-Great spacing layout of componets

Cons: -Almost owned 2 years and no issues or problems.

Other Thoughts: Not much to say a great mobo if it fits your needs, have had 0 issues or problems, unless your building a very expensive or extreme machine this is all you really need.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

Pros: I bought this product more than a year ago and I have not had a single problem with it. It comes with a very consumer friendly BIOS, that you are able to use a mouse with, and easy to follow options. The BIOS program even has a dashboard feature accessible from the desktop that you can use to monitor and control all of the fan speeds, temperatures, etc... I had plenty of ports for all of my case fans, and sata cords.

Cons: none

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great overclocking ability
Supports 32 GB of ram for the sake of things like Photoshop and video editing
Pretty much everything except the couple items in the cons section, neither of which has much of an impact on performance.

Cons: slow bios.
Takes 15s just to post, and can take more than that(up to 25s, maybe more) if I change some settings.

Fails to post if I set my 1600 MHz ram to 1600 MHz instead of 1333. Could possibly be the ram, and this isn't all that important to me. After all, 1333 ram is around 20-30 GB/s.

Other Thoughts: The slow bios is a really annoying problem for me. I paired this with a vertex 4 256 GB ssd which can boot windows 7 in less than 10 seconds. Because of this extra slow bios post, my boot time is now 28 seconds which is highly disappointing seeing as I can get faster boot times from slower SSDs paired with cheaper motherboards.

My motherboard does have the latest BIOS, hopefully asus will come up with a fix for this issue, but I highly doubt they will.

2500k @ 4.4 GHz
H80 water cooler
4 x 8 GB 1600 MHz ram
Radeon HD 4670
256 GB vertex 4 SSD
Fancy 9 TB nas (4 x 3TB, raid 5) for all other storage needs

5 out of 5 eggsExtensive features and OC abilities

Pros: I've had this board running in my machine for over 9 months. As an IT professional this board has surpassed every other system I've used and built. Asus is known for stability and functionality AND this board performs both extremely well.
I'm running this board with an I7-2600K (3.4-3.8GHz) processor, 16GB CORSAIR Vengeance (4X4GB), (2) Corsair Force 3 120GB SSD drives in a RAID 0 and (2) AMD 6850 (Black Edition) video cards in SLI. WITHOUT any over-clocking this set-up achieves 7.9 on Windows Experience Index

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me

Pros: I have had this motherboard for about a year now and have not had one problem. Any problems I did have with this motherboard was user error. With its Asus EZ mode getting into and using you Bios is simple. I have my cpu overclocked at 4.10Ghz and it was done using this motherboard, it even tells you if the overclocking you tried will work or not. It makes it so easy to do it. Another great thing about this motherboard is the fact that you can control fan speeds, cpu clock speed, gpu clock speed, blutooth capabilities,...etc its just awesome. I would recommend this motherboard.

Cons: Has a weird POST beep, and it is difficult to setup RAID with the Sata port setup.

Other Thoughts: I have 1 years experience under my belt with building 2 computers. I purchased this motherboard for myself and it is awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board - Solid - Reliable

Pros: Installed and setup in less than an hour. Straight forward.
Bios-cool GUI with Basic and Advanced options.

have had since December without a glitch. have not tried overclocking yet.

I like that Asus keeps updating and improving BIOS (going home tonight to update, in fact)

Cons: None to date.

Other Thoughts: wish I had pre-thought the whole PCI-Express 3.0. Bought this in December. It's 6 months later and the same version of the board is out now, but as "GEN3". Guess I can only blame me for not waiting. Wish ASUS offered some sort of 'step--up' program like EVGA

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic board

Pros: Easy OverClocking
Easy CPU install
Easy period
Performs Great

Cons: I haven't had anything come up to be wrong with this board.

It does have one USB3 header on the mother board, as well as 2 rear usb 3 ports. I was able to hook up from front side USB3 ports to the usb3 header and leave the external ports (external).

Other Thoughts: A lot of people complain about the SATA III ports. 2 Of them are on the Intel Controller, and 2 of them are on a separate Marvell Controller. This means only two sata III ports can be included in the boards built in raid controller during raid configuration.

The other two are controlled by the OS.

I actually found this to be preferable, because 2 of the Sata III ports I have plugged into a 5"1/4" SDD Dock bay I use for running Virtual Machines for sharepoint development, and I hot swap the drives in that bay, so it's good that they are not bios controlled or part of the raid configuration.
