5 out of 5 eggs4 +1 observations for FSX

Pros: I still like it. New motherboard/bios technology that can do very quick overclocking findings. A simplified bios. High quality regulators that took a P II 965 to 4 ghz stable w. 4 gb ddr3 1600 dual channel at 9 9 9 25 36 2T 1.66volts. Processor running with LLC on, software showing a steady1.434 volts. NB LLC also on, bumped up slightly to (can't remember exactly) but below 1.130 volts,Good enough for FSX Hussli settings, 'unlimited' framerate. Not exceeding low 40's *C with a maxxed out Hyper212 cooler. BFG GTX 285 280.36 drivers, slightly overclocked. Nice, smooth, beautiful gameplay.

Cons: Not really a con, but board wouldn't handle two sets of ram sticks at all for 8GB @ 1600, methinks because there is only one memory phase. Took me months to figure this out. Yes, -got the NB at 2400 for the recommended triple the ram speed thing. It would handle 4 sticks @1333,- 1470, -a little tighter timings, etc.,-but just not the same as 1600. They offer more expensive 8+2 regulated boards for a reason!

Other Thoughts: This thing seems good to go for a long long time, quite impressive for a 4+1 phase board. I did try some 4 GB module sticks for 8gb as well, but still didn't run the game as great as it does now. I will say the bios has a bit of a mind of its own, and the greyish timing findings there do not always match what AOD will tell you once in Win7, making it alittle tricky to get those subtle secondary timings so tough to pinpoint as I have often found using budget ram.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Mobo

Pros: I'm very impressed with the look and ability of this board. The AM3+ slot was the main reason for my purchase, but it has plenty of other features that make it stand out; namely the easy BIOS and overclocking. Installing it was simple in my old case. It also comes with an install CD that had a number of helpful drivers, programs, and options. In addition, the versatility of this board makes it suitable for a wide range of cores and RAM chips, like my FX Zambezi quadcore.

Cons: Was a little disappointed this board lacked an IDE port, as it meant buying a new optical drive. On the other hand, it's an outdated port anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsSpiffy Deal

Pros: The BIOS is set up with many options
Board is thick and sturdy
Has everything you need to overclock and tune
Just the right size
Extremely fast when set up

Cons: None that I can think of right now

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a gift for my brother. I looked for the ASUS name because I've always had reliable products from them. You have to understand that my brother is hard on things. He likes to take things apart and tweak things. This board has withstood the test of time. It has been overclocked and overvolted. It has withstood hard use. Without failure in the process. It is a very sturdy board.

4 out of 5 eggstakes a beating

Pros: This is my 3rd Asus build, and all 3 have gone together quite easily. Bought this as an upgrade to play BF3, does the job nicely with a phenom X4 unlocked to an x5, and two 4 gig sticks of 1600 G Skill, and a GTX 560 Ti.

Cons: While the core unlocker is fine, I really dont care for the cpu overclocking features on this board. Im sure its fine for someone who has done a lot of overclocking and has experience at it, but I am an overclocking noob.......so.....ya, didnt like the way its set up.

Other Thoughts: After hooking everything up, I jammed excess wires into an empty drive bay. A female end somehow managed to push onto one of the pins for my tooless drivebays. As soon as I fired this bad boy up for the first time, I saw a big old spark, and heard a "zap" noise.......everything shut down. My heart sank......I checked the wiring, found the problem......and thankfully, it fired right up. Lesson learned, be careful where u cram excess wires, lol.

4 out of 5 eggsPoor layout, decent board

Pros: I purchased this board for its AM3+ compatibility but also b/c it's one of the last boards with Core Unlocker advertised. I have a Phenom II X2 555 BE that unlocks so I need this board.

Usual nice Asus colors. Lots of the features for the money.

Cons: Overall the layout on this board was very very poor for my needs. I had to buy it quickly and should have spent more time looking at it closely.

Only 1 PWM fan header. The 3pin chassis header is near rear connectors, very far from the front case fans you would be connecting to it.

Standard 3pin headers (2) dont seem to be controllable by SpeedFan. My last Asus board had no problems with SpeedFan (thus making the lack of PWMs not really an issue).

Front audio connectors are located ALL THE WAY to the rear of the board. Even with an Antec P280 there is no way to route that cable behind board. Thus, the overlying cable over the board looks terrible.

No on-board USB 3.0 connectors for front USB 3.0 ports on your case. Rear 3.0's yes, front ones no.

Other Thoughts: Examine it closely for your case and your needs.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch better than expected! Great buy!

Pros: Once again a quality board from Asus. No problems even when pushing this board by upping voltages and overclocking the CPU.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This board is installed on a server where 30 people use its CPU and ram simultaneously and no hiccups whatsoever. I've only had to return one Asus board in my life which is pretty good considering how many mobos I've installed.
