4 out of 5 eggsThe Little Devil

Pros: Feature Packed
Small
Looks Amazingly Evil
Simple to set up

Cons: None that I can think of. *see other thoughts*

Other Thoughts: Packaging was great and offered a wonderful presentation for this board. Really wish these things came with SLI and Crossfire bridges but o'well. The Mobo has been running quite well and the OC features are very simple and effective. Over all this board is great for its intended design and look amazing. My only gripe is the Driver Webpage from Asus feels clustered, making it feel more overwhelming then it really is to update your system. Any ways hope this helps, good luck and happy building.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Micro Board

Pros: pleased with the bios interface, and very easy to use

Cons: some of the setup. for example the select boot device area of the interface, is a little redundant

Other Thoughts: I wish I had bought the full size and when I do get a full size atx I will get a ROG board again

5 out of 5 eggsI Can See Why...

Pros: I can see why enthusiasts give rave reviews of ASUS ROG series of motherboards.

This MB went into an HTPC build with the intent of upgrading over time. The CPU has already been upgraded once from an i3-2105 to an i5-2500K in this particular HTPC (as did many other components).

Here are the actual pros:

This motherboard is a very pleasant combination of features. I will not repeat what is already in the details tab of this page or on ASUS's page (look it up yourself).

The 8+4+2 power design is a robust power design that is better than many that are 12, 16, 18, or more. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it will overclock the 2500K better than 18+ phase power design motherboards. This tells me that ASUS used very high-end MOSFETs and chokes (inductors).

The UEFI BIOS is of a nice design.

The integrated audio with the SupremeFX X-Fi 2 is, actually, surprising good. I thought this would be more of a gimmick but the audio is better than most sound cards of $45 or less. I'd have to say it is at least SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Audio or Audigy (the X-Fi Extreme Audio was an Audigy if I remember correctly).

Heatsinks are robust.

Cons: Price would be my only issue. Although, between being able to overclock better than most 16+ phase power design ATX motherboards on this micro ATX motherboard and having a ton of features for a micro ATX motherboard, one cannot really complain too much about the price.

Other Thoughts: Originally went to a HTPC build but after upgrading CPU to 2500K, memory (from 2x4GB to 4x4GB), and GPU to 560 Ti 448, and upgrading Samsung 830 64GB SSD to 128GB version, I no longer feel guilty about putting components that were subpar for this MB initially.

After buying the Z77 version of this board for another build and being surprised again, I will buy from ASUS again...well, at least their ROG motherboards. I cannot comment on their other series of motherboards due to my non-experience of their other motherboards. Prior to this one, the last ASUS motherboard I bought was back in 2004 or 2005.

4 out of 5 eggsGENE-Z Review

Pros: Solid motherboard at a great price. Does everything I need it to and more. This is my first microATX and I'm not sure why I ever bothered with full size boards. Overclocking and configuration have a dizzying amount of options. I had no issue getting my i5 up to 4.1Ghz, but some care is needed because of the sheer number of config options, easy to make a mistake. Lots of sensors and cooling options. BIOS is easy to use but some technical knowledge is needed. I was easily able to get my G.SKILL memory to XMP at 1866. ROG connector is interesting but doesn't have much use for me. I don't tweak on the fly. Great board overall! No BSOD except when extreme OC, which required Button reset.

Cons: Easy to get into trouble in the BIOS if you aren't sure what you are doing. Backup your settings before flashing latest BIOS version, mine we lost. no other cons!

Other Thoughts: awesome and stable board at the right price.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked nicely until it died

Pros: UEFI Bios
Easy to Overclock

Cons: Dead after 6 months.

Other Thoughts: Extremely disappointed. Probably going to steer clear of ASUS from now on, 2 motherboards in a row.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked fine, when it did

Pros: Color combination, abundance of sata ports, tweakable features! It's like a Subaru WRX, little engine with max potential.

Cons: Was never stable enough to get into bios, even with bare minimum hardware components. First motherboard the digital debugger wasn't working, so I couldn't tell what the error code was. Then "Q LED" was stuck on "cpu led", so had the processor replaced, and still nothing.
RMA'd with manufacturer, replacement came in and it seemed to work for a bit, but now I'm having the same issues still. At least this time the debugger was working, but from there I couldn't figure what to do.

Other Thoughts: This is my first time writing a review, normally Im either an Asus or Gigabyte fan, but I don't even no anymore.
On top of that, I have to get a replacement for the replacement, more waiting time.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Small but powerful, never any BSODs or driver issues, or any issues at all!

Cons: creative sound board is just an upgraded realtek card

Other Thoughts: who said gaming PCs have to be huge, haven't tried SSD caching yet.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Maximus IV Gene-Z

Pros: Great board for. Asus was able to pack a bunch of their high end board goodies onto this small PCB. Great Over Clocking. I hit 5.78Ghz with my 2700k on water and 8 gig of Dominator GT

Cons: wish the mem multi was set a up a little different. Doent let you set the ram to what exact mhz's you want because the blk is touchy.
