5 out of 5 eggsI love this board!

Pros: Bluetooth built-in
a ton of usb ports
a ton of sata ports
rear usb 3.0 pci slot adapter included
runs cool for me
lots of extras that help with overclocking and troubleshooting!

Cons: ai suite 2

Other Thoughts: I love this board! I just switched from an intel dh77kc board and I love it! My intel board was buggy and gave me a lot of trouble. This one had me running my i5 2400 at 3.3 ghz when I first fired it up! I didn't mean to leave the oc switch on, but I must have. The only con, which doesn't deserve the removal of a star is the ai suite 2 software. It has lots of good points, but its a bit buggy... It's known for throwing strange, random voltage warnings at you from time to time. the tuning in windows works, however, you may not post next time you restart if you aren't careful, then you'll have to clock it down in bios before you can boot into windows again. Not a big surprise. It'll crank it up in windows, though! Had my i5 2400 running at 4ghz for a benchmark! not boot-stable, though. Also, no surprise. still have it set at 3.906 turbo stable. Hits 3.8 all the time. I even loved the pci slot usb 3.0 adapter it came with! worked perfect for me since I don't have the usb 3 panel for my zalman z9 case. Not that I use them currently, but its nice to have that option now. This thing has far exceeded my expectations in every way. I can't say enough good about this board! Great buy!

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked decently well for two years when not overclocked.

Cons: The auto OC Tuner built in wasn't stable. With a manual overclock it would boot cycle occasionally. After 2 years and 3 months it finally crapped out. Asus customer service was dismal and is what ultimately led me to come back and leave a bad review for a discontinued product no one will see.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great while working and no issues with overall board the last 18 months - has always done funky things at boot up but boots finally. Son uses it to play Steam games as coupled with high ram and high end video card.

Cons: Early on - 6 months or less-- a couple USB 2 rear panels plugs failed (this was stuff constantly plugged in so not from use) and LAN plug started to get buggy and any jiggle can cause it to stop (yea.. this is a poor solder connetion - not cable as tried others) and that seems to be the situation. ALSO - the on board sound really is poor.

Other Thoughts: this would be the 4th ASUS board I have owned going back to my first AMD build in 1999 and my P5SLI has been running flawless since 2005 when I built until I neglected to control head and lost PCI and other stuff.... this is the only ASUS board I have had trouble with.

1 out of 5 eggsThis is a piece of garbage

Pros: When it worked it was pretty nice

Cons: After 15 months of service, the SATA controllers died, and in the process took out both drives that were attached to it. It's not a power issue as some have said because the machine is on a UPS with a power conditioner and there was no bad weather anywhere near the house.

I tried dealing with ASUS customer service, but to say the experience was frustrating would be a disservice to understatement. They said the RMA process on this item is well over a month, which is obviously not an ideal situation. On top of that, the customer service rep was obvious in her lack of care about this case, and perhaps any other customer she deals with.

I will never buy another ASUS product again.

1 out of 5 eggsGood... when it works

Pros: Great feature set
Supported a 2600K

Cons: Unreliable
Poor RMA support
Horrendous RMA time

Other Thoughts: I bought my first board right when they came out.
1st board worked, but went through the RMA recall.
2nd board: DOA
3rd board: Worked for 15 months or so
4th board: DOA
5th board: Still waiting on it 1.5 months after 3rd board died.

The quality control and RMA time is simply terrible. While the agents themselves are nice, nothing seems to get done. My fifth board has been in limbo for over two weeks to be shipped out even though it was an "Advanced RMA 2 day shipping" deal. Multiple departments within RMA seem to be involved to send out a replacement, and there seems to be no communication between them.

I'd be hesitant to ever recommend an ASUS product based on their support, which is a shame, as the products on paper are one of the best out there.

/end rant

1 out of 5 eggsworked for 8 months

Pros: right feature set at the right price, attractive board layout

Cons: after 8 months of use board EPROM dies after a system resume suddenly

Other Thoughts: I guess I'm lucky that this probably occurred within a warranty period? will find out later when I call asus.

Manufacturer Response:
