2 out of 5 eggsOn my second defective board

Pros: ASUS either works or will have a glich. If it works, it works forever.

Cons: When there is an issue, they don't seem to be able to repair a seamingly simple problem like getting audio out to the front case pannel via the AAFP (10-1) socket. I could have already repaired it myself but it is under warrenty. By the time I send this board back to be fixed for the same issue the first board had, I will have almost 1.2 the cost of the original board tied up in shipping costs.

Other Thoughts: ASUS makes a good product but the USA techs seem not to be able to repair the simplest issues. All of the on board communication with the socket happens to be adjacent to the socket. First year electrical techs could do better then ASUS Technology Services in Jefferson, IN, USA. I am a bit angry at the incompetance of the service, or lack of.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear that the issue with the front panel audio connector and that it was not repaired through RMA. Can you email me your RMA # to (reference #C1037-6906) so that I can look into it? Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: Worked really great. A lifesaving device when it came to having a video card broken, the onboard GPU did a good job keeping my computer working.
USB 3.0 is definitely a big plus, and the SATA 6GB/s.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsGood, solid motherboard.

Pros: Quick installation, great BIOS interface (with the ability to use a mouse), great tools for overclocking if you're interested, great monitoring software (voltages and temperatures), and the ability to use your own startup screen instead of a giant Asus logo.

Cons: Doesn't support using 3 sticks of memory. Well, it works, and the computer runs, but the mobo will eventually fry the odd one about 3 months later and you'll have to diagnose a memory problem that the bios can't recognize. :) However, it doesn't even pretend to support 3 sticks, so that's my bad, not theirs.

Other Thoughts: Really good motherboard. Felt sturdy, went into my case just fine, and had plenty of ports for plugging whatever I wanted into it. I'm a pretty serious gamer, so I've been using this computer pretty heavily for that, along with hosting gaming servers, school work, computer programming and web development. After all I've thrown at it, it's never had any issues (other than the memory one).

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: It does everything I need it to do.

Cons: The case I have is not compatible with the USB 3.0 onboard header. this is not really a con, just an inconvenience. Other than that the board has been a champ.

2 out of 5 eggsTwo eggs for being nice.

Pros: None.

Cons: There's no convenient 3.0 USB. Stopped working and failed to recognize DIMM's after booting the pc 2 times. I read reviews and I guess for the people it worked for got really lucky. This mobo is really unreliable and I don't think I'd recommend it at all to anyone. Thankfully, Newegg has great customer service and I had to get this product RMA'd.

Other Thoughts: Kudos to Newegg for helping.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: Outstanding ease of use with the BIOS.
Overall easy installation and setup.
Very nice looking.
worked fantastically out of the box!

Cons: The IO shield that came with this motherboard was complete garbage. I have never seen anything THAT terrible! It had all kinda of prongs sticking back into the case that apparently ASUS wanted you to push down with the motherboard, AFTER you had to put it into the slot. Not to mention it BARLEY fit. Complete garbage, ASUS if there is one thing to be learned from this motherboard it is that the IO shield is to be FLAT!

Other Thoughts: This motherboard, aside from the IO shield that was provided, was fantastic overall, knocked an egg for the shield setup. (It was the ONLY thing that kept my build from being absolutely awesome, thanks ASUS!) Would diffidently recommend this board and the company ASUS to anyone looking to build a PC, I would warn them that the IO Shield sucks though!

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable crud

Pros: Lots of feature bullet points that make it sound like a good board.

Cons: Glitchy. First one we ordered kept disabling its PCI-X ports, requiring a jumper pull to make those cards start working again. RMA'd it. Second one arrived with the reset button pins snapped off. Decided to use it anyway and 5 months later both memory channels have failed.

Other Thoughts: Asus used to be such a good brand.

1 out of 5 eggsBoard and Asus are junk , follow up

Pros: none

Cons: If you read my other review apparently it is not recommended to use a factory Intel CPU heat sink as it may scratch the board and void the warranty .

Other Thoughts: With all the reviews on this boards problems , I guess Asus is tired of fixing or replacing this board, Many thoughts on Asus boards can be found all over the web.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear about the issues. One should ensure that coolers are installed correctly, without scratching the board and damaging microstrip traces to the DIMM slots. Trace layout and impedance is all predefined by Intel, as are the coolers, so if there are damaged traces as a result of incorrect installation then we cannot cover this under warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks just fine

Pros: Recognizes everything with no issues, BIOS are a bit simple but that doesn't bug me at all, and the blue looks super cool. It simply works.

Cons: There were two instances where it wouldn't recognize drives in the 3.0 ports, so I'd have to reinstall the drivers to get it to work, but it works just fine now and I haven't had the problem again.

Other Thoughts: Need a mobo? Asus is the way to go.
