5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: I don't usually do reviews but this board is really great at everything you may want it for. Great over clocking an gaming an video editing. It runs very cool under heavy loads.
I assembled all parts an it fired up with no problems. I will say I was worried about the bios version that would come in stalled on the board as some people were having people problems. Mine can with version 4601 so every thing worked flawlessly. I highly recommend this board if you want to go with x79 chip set over x99 to get the most out of a Quad core processor an still have room to grow.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid buy

Pros: Humongous CEB board fit fine in my ATI Thor case.
UEFI bios is nice and straightforward, making for easy overclocking.
USB Bios flashback works flawlessly. I don't understand people who have problems with this, just go to the Asus website, find the most updated bios, flash, insert usb and watch the magic.
Asus ssd caching works fine.

Cons: The AI Suite will give you false readings, it said my temps were astronomical while they were rock solid.

Other Thoughts: Great mobo no problems would buy again.

1 out of 5 eggsIs ASUS trying to fail?

Pros: Visually appealing for a paper weight.

Cons: Booting it gave me error code 0C. The manual did not know this error code. ASUS did not know this error code. The first rep gave me a link to forum and then disconnected.

Do they want to stay in business? Because that kind of support is not how it's done.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing motherboard, it works after I almost burn it!

Pros: so far everything, I haven't fully discover all the abilities of this motherboard.

Cons: non so far

Other Thoughts: I bought this rig:
Mobo: ASUS P9X79 WS
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P2 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified 1000W
VGA: EVGA ACX Cooler GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked 3GB 384-Bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K Ivy Bridge-E 6-Core 3.4GHz
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB
Driver: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III
Seagate NAS HDD ST2000VN000 2TB 64MB
Cooling: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i

my tech level is non existence, but I thought it will not be that hard if I sit and read and with patience I will be able to build it.
WRONG! while I did sit and read and I install everything I couldn't make it to start, so a local tech help me and we manage to get it started.
Unfortunately at my area not ALL technicians are experts even if they pretend to be and while I did read about the 1394a port NOT to put a usb cable there, this is exactly what I did, I place the USB bracket cable to the 1394a port (firewire).
But because I didn't connect any device for a few days the system was working fine. Until I bought a set of monitors and I put them at the usb bracket, I took them off and I place them at another usb input, but it was too late. After a couple of minutes or hours, I don't remember very well, I saw sparks, and I close the system right away. Then I check my PSU if it works, please note because the sparks was at the lowest part of the mobo, I thought it was the PSU. I open again the system and then 3 more sparks and then it just died....and I died that moment with it.....
When I took a closer look I saw NEXT to the 1394a port the burn marks from the sparks. I thought the mobo just died on me and it was from the worst stupid mistake because I DID read about the warning!
After a week I took everything out and I test the mobo, and it was working, the power and reset button was lighting on. After I called 6 times on Asus at their tech department asking them questions what should I do, they all said the same thing, to install back the mobo and test if its working.

And guess what! everything was working!!! like EVERYTHING!!!! of course I will NOT touch again that port, I will buy a new one in the future, but for now it is working perfect!

The mobo safely shut down my system, and after everything I put it through, it kept working.
Many people said im very idiot but lucky!

i hope my review will help some people NOT to do such mistake!!!!

2 out of 5 eggsBoard OK - Tech Support Not

Pros: I purchased this board as part of a graphic workstation build. It sees the installed 64Gb of ram OK and works but with a few problems that require talking to ASUS tech support.

Cons: The board has the latest bios but I am have two problems, one a boot sequence problem, the other an array problem. I spent the best part of an hour yesterday on the ASUS support chat line with a technician who was very polite as he took my question and then kept telling me he would get back to me before dropping the connection. They say they have email support but if you send in a request you just get a reply telling you to call their support number and get in line there. So far I just haven't had time for the waits and may have to take a day off to see if I can actually get through to someone.

Other Thoughts: I will keep trying to get tech assistance from ASUS and will follow-up if their support actually materializes.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: If your reading this then you probably already know what this board offers. Easy overclock. Stable performance, easy to set up. As it should be for this level of product. Recognized all 64Gb of HyperX Beast 64GB KHX21C11T3FK8/64X no issues. Very happy with this setup. I have had some quirky issues with some other Asus WS boards, compatibility with Array Controllers specifically; and was hesitant to purchase Asus again, but this one has been grinding away. So Far So Good.

Cons: I got nothin.

4 out of 5 eggsThis is a Good Board

Pros: In a previous post, I titled the post, "Do Not Buy this Board." Well, after owning this board for a while I have to say that it is an excellent motherboard. It has never BSOD'd or froze or anything bad. I run Windows XP, Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit), and FreeBSD on the machine. Even though I get a lot of 'No Driver Attached' messages on FreeBSD, it still runs great, and virtual machines under freebsd still run great. I also game on it.

Cons: The reason that I said do not buy this board was the fact that the SSD caching does not work correctly. I bought an SSD for the machine: wasted money. Then Asus has videos on you tube bragging about the SSD caching along with the marketing graphics on the box too. Asus bent over backwards to help, but I was upset about the SSD caching not working. It still does not work correctly. It always forgets the the SSD cache has been enabled after a complete power down. I was also upset that Asus will not put a seal on their motheboard packages. I got a bent pin with the motherboard from Newegg. Newegg did exchange the board. Either Asus or Newegg has some employees that might do that.

Other Thoughts: With a Xeon CPU and ECC memory, this board never crashes. Runs great. How may motherboard seals could you buy with the two or three boards that I exchanged? SSD caching still does not work and will never work.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Just an update after about 2 years with this board.
After I got all the little issues ironed out this board has been rock solid.
Gaming, photoshop, surfing.. what ever I'm doing it just does it. Never a blue screen or hiccup.
Just flashed the BIOS last week for the first time in over a year and it went flawless.
Like the new BIOS a lot. Easy to navigate.
Resumes from sleep in less than one second.
Easy to OC. Setup RAM in XMP and it just works.
My first ASUS board and I'm happy with it and ASUS parts.

Cons: No cons to talk about.
Works perfectly at this time.

Other Thoughts: i7 3630K OC to 4.2ghz
32G RAM (G Skill 2133)
2x GTX680
2x Intell 520 SSD
1x WD Black 2TB
watercooled using fan header to control PWM pump.
Works great.

5 out of 5 eggsno problems at all.

Pros: I built a new PC from scratch around Christmas. Started with a pile of new hardware and ended up with a beast. Booted easily, installed all drivers and updates no problem. It's been 5 months and no hiccups at all.

Cons: Lots of buttons and special do dads that I still don't really understand? lol

Other Thoughts: The EZ BIOS updater is... easy! While checking compatablity of my hardware, I found that to support my CPU the BIOS needed updating. I also read most of the owners manual, trying to figure out the correct way to build this machine. And making sure I didn't touch something that would kill it... So many options.
