5 out of 5 eggsStill going after almost 2 years.

Pros: I added this to a custom server I built, Numerous features, fast and reliable. The only thing I plan on upgrading on this server any time soon is replacing SATA with SSDs so this motherboard will be used for another couple years.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsPoor layout Bios had glitches

Pros: Supports Ivy Bridge, Multitude of sata 6, usb3, built in wifi plenty of ram slots.

Cons: Bios not stable latest 701 bios offers greater stability but throttles CPU by far to much unless puty into Asus optimal performance mode. Then wont go into sleep mode automatically.

Other Thoughts: Basically a sound board although The PCIex slots for SLI are 1 and 4 not the preferred one and 3 and the bottom external USB connectors and support for switches are covered by the second GPU requiring special bent connectors on any double wide GPU. All boards are becoming unreliable.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Great!

Pros: I really like this board. The price was a little more than others, but the built in wifi and bluetooth are what made the decision for me. That feature is really awesome and I didn't find many other boards that had that as features. Has worked great for me with overclocking and recognizing all my components. Also this was my first time with the EUFI BIOS and it is pretty slick. The quick bios update is pretty cool too. I have it hooked up to a 3930k at 4.5ghz since march with no issues!

Cons: This is a pricey board, and I think at the time of this review it is maybe getting replaced with a newer model. I have seen other reviews that reported issues but I haven't had any. But pricey and get a little tricky getting everything in place especially with the wifi and bluetooth modules

Other Thoughts: I really like this board. I have never been upset with an ASUS purchase. They have great tutorials online and really helped me get ready to build/overclock my first PC! I am glad I picked this board for the 2011 socket support and the extra features. This was my upgrade from my old rig with an old school P5N-T Deluxe..that thing was crazy...

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Great Features Listed

Cons: There appears to be a ghost in the machine. I am not at nob when it comes to customizing PCs, but this hunk of junk causes one to reevaluate life's choices. Like buying this board was the worst mistake I ever made. Loaded everything and (without OCing a thing) I would start a media conversion, walk away and when I returned sometime later, the machine had rebooted. Hmmm. No error's reported or anything. I would logon and play around for a few hours and nothing would happen. Seems fine. So, I would get up and go do some thing else while the computer just sits there. Guess what happened while I was gone? You guessed it, it had rebooted again while under no load. So what do I do now I wondered. I tried different memory modules, different graphics cards, different drives, even different operating systems, I even invested in a lot of different cooling options even though it never ran hot. Nothing worked. So I reached out to ASUS's crack support team to be told to try different configurations of devices like memory, video card,etc... After struggling with the explanation, it became clear that I was pretty much out of luck. Unfortunately for me, I travel a lot for work so the little time I do get to trouble takes me several months to do something that should only take a few days.

Other Thoughts: Don't get suckered.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat specs but major random issues

Pros: Lots of USB slots, great specs, 3 x pcix slots, USB BIOS flash update tool is easy to use.

Cons: couplie issues

- i purchased this board because it is spec'ed to be able to do use DDR3 1866 Mhz ram without being overclocked. I went out of my way and spent $100 more for vendor approved ram off of the mobos website (Corsair Dominator 32 gb 1866). When i booted the system, ram defaulted at 1333 which is fine. Then i changed the bios settings to XMP mode with 1866. It ran fine for the first 31 days but then the machine started to restart randomly during bootup and in windows (nothing was overclocked). After countless days of testing and speaking with asus tech support (who were very helpful), i eventually decided that i was wasting to much time trying to figure out the issue. I dropped it off at a local service spot and after extensive tests they determined it was a bad board. Of course it is 2 days over new eggs return policy so now i have a dead board and waiting for the new one to be RMA'ed to me. I will update this review once i get it.

- Also, this mobo's onboard audio drivers (realtek hd audio) caused my windows media player library to go haywire and delete and reload constantly.

Other Thoughts: This is my second asus board (i loved my first one - it ran great!), and i typically love asus products. But to be honest, i was planning on buying an ASUS Titan video card and now i am having second thoughts. I hope the ASUS team can RMA my product quickly (even though they ship ground!) so i can get back online asap.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks very well, but 2 bad memory slots

Pros: Has lots of features & is easy to set up. Very smooth operation.

Cons: Mine has 2 bad Memory slots so board only sees 16 gig of 32 gig in memory. Waiting for Asus to get back to me about this problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that only half of your RAM is being detected. Can you remove all sticks of RAM and try each dimm slot to see if the 4GB stick of RAM is being detected in each slot.

Make sure the RAM being used is one whole kit and not two separate kits.

Please provide me the detailed parts list and model number of the RAM being used.

Please check your CPU socket for bent pins as that can also cause memory detection issues as well. You can try G.skill or Corsair for your 32GB kit.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Build Ever

Pros: -Fast
-Reliable
-Not exceedingly expensive, considering what you get.
-It's Asus, I've yet to have a truly bad experience with their tech.

Cons: -Had a minor issue with posting during the first week where I would have to turn it off then power it up again, but an update in BIOS fixed the issue. (took me a week to find my way around a not-factory-installed OS...)

Other Thoughts: The only issue I've had with this board in over a month is the post I mentioned above, but again the BIOS update fixed that minor issue. Other than that, this motherboard has exceeded my expectations. Using an i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E and I've yet to have any issues at all.

I would recommend this board to anyone who wants a good, powerful motherboard. With Wi-Fi built-in! Awesome!

5 out of 5 eggs8 months going strong

Pros: this motherboard wit the i7-3930k @ 4.5ghz has been running solid for 8 months straight never once being turned off and extremely high levels of gaming and benchmarks and yet its super stable just as the first day I got it and this board is absolutely the best x79 board for a combination of both stability and overclocking as you get the best of both worlds and all I can say is those having problems and blaming the board thats a shame because this board is of super high build quality and is rock solid

Cons: NONE ZERO NONE ZERO

Other Thoughts: awesome x79 power and build quality

5 out of 5 eggsfirst build, don't listen to the rma's great motherboard

Pros: endless features, very upgradable, over clicking was so easy with I-7 3820 to 4.4 MHz without tweaking then 4.8 stable for 3 months now still a beast.. buy it cuz all the bad reviews are people who need color coded instructions to take it out of the box... very great mb with all the features plus some...

Cons: the only cons are that people who buy this motherboard writing bad reviews on it... that's it... be careful and watch a couple youtube tuts if u never done it... my first build this is exactly what I did... had windows 7 and oc at 4.4 in 6 hours from all the parts in the boxes.... not bad for first build but I took my time and it works with all working parts!!! buy it and don't let all these people scare you out of it, best mb for the socket type.. goodluck

2 out of 5 eggsin all fairness to ASUS tech support...

Pros: 1st call in to ASUS support I landed a bad one. The person who handled the RMA was great. :-)

Cons: Still 2 eggs for the originally stated reasons...
