5 out of 5 eggs2 years and no issue

Pros: 1. stable
2. oc ability
3. features
4. bios has some decent out of box settings

Cons: Right now there are no cons

Other Thoughts: The board setup takes some tech knowledge especially updating the bios in the beginning but the instructions on asus site was straight forward. It was a bit of a pain but i have been building systems for a long long time.
advice...be patient and take things one at a time when you have issues.it extremly rare to get a dead board, just becareful when setting it up and make sure your not shorting anything out.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS P9X79 PRO LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with USB BIOS

Pros: Nothing, I HATE IT!

Cons: Horrible motherboard. I am done with ASUS. They were once amazing in quality when it came to motherboards. Now, all they generate is garbage.

I bought a defected motherboard from the beginning. It just took me over 3 years to figure it out. Now my warranty is up and I am stuck with this garbage.

The USB ports stop functioning intermittently and I lose connection of my mouse and keyboard. They video card blacks out and stops being recognized by the motherboard. I bought a second video card and same thing. I liked this company so much that both video cards where also from ASUS. NEVER AGAIN!

SLI set up is a nightmare, I can't ever have it function for no longer than maybe 2-3 minutes into a game.

I guess it's time to try ASRock. It seems in the break from ASUS they took all that was quality from ASUS.

Even ASUS customer service is horrible. Do yourself a favor. Stay away from them.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't purchase

Pros: Good Overclocking abilities
4 x SATAIII ports
Onboard Bluetooth
ESATA port
Lots of USB3
Lots of PCIe slots
No old keyboard/mouse port (they're unnecessary now)
Looks Nice

Worked good for about 8-9 months

Cons: The bluetooth isn't compatible with Windows 8!!! What the...

Once I filled the mobo with PCIe devices, things started going wrong. USB 3 slots would randomly drop out, leaving me thinking one of my USB devices had broken.. until I realized nothing in that slot would work.

Then, PCIe devices would also stop working, as though they were not installed. I hooked up an ASUS Radeon HD 7870, Radeon HD 5450, Firewire card, USB 3 card, and a UAD Quad card. With all of these loaded... one of the above would not work. Which one didn't work seemed to be random, but sort of based on the order that I filled the slots... some how.

This happened for about a month, and then one evening I went to turn on my motherboard and it wouldn't post. I opened the computer case and the red light was showing at the VGA LED indicator. Clearly... there's an issue with the PCI slots.

I spoke to customer service, and they confirmed this board has a faulty PCIe controller!

I tried to RMA... that was a bit of a nightmare. I did it via the online chat... and it took 4-5 separate tries to actually get anything accomplished. The first rep said they'd set up an RMA for me.. it didn't happen. I try again, the 2nd rep finally does setup the RMA for me, they said the RMA system was down when the 1st rep tried. I get the email, and notice ASUS requires a credit card hold for the MSRP of the mobo before they send a replacement. I don't have space on my card... so I reached back out to a 3rd rep to ask if this can be waived.. and they couldn't discuss it with me because their RMA system was down.. again. I finally spoke to a 4th rep a week later and they told me the replacement board is no longer even an option.. and they'd have to do a repair RMA instead, and they have no other choices... but they won't require a credit card from me. I've heard horror stories about their RMA repairs.. so I'm very nervous and worried they'll return it broken. But we'll have to see.

So.. instead of waiting for the RMA process, I purchased another mobo in the meantime. I grabbed an MSI x79a GD45 Plus. it's better than this mobo in every way. SATA III feels faster. My programs & Win 8 run more stable. Data gets transferred faster. Clean overclock.. literally no stability issues. All of my PCIe devices work as intended. Couldn't be happrier with the switch.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS P9X79 Pro

Pros: Excellent for over clocking, very stable board
8 DIMM slots
Water cooling blocks available for Northbridge and VRMs.
Great board for custom cooing setup
Accepts 2011 Intel CPUs
Excellent BIOS

Cons: If you want to go Haswell route then no use getting this board.
Really for this chipset I cannot say i have any complaints with this board

Other Thoughts: Needs USB BIOS flash before it will accept Intel 4930 processors. BIOS flashback needs USB stick formatted to FAT 32 full format and may need to rename BIOS file using BIOS rename utility.
I have really enjoyed building my first water cooling system with this board, it has been a pleasure to work with.

1 out of 5 eggsfirst ever rma

Pros: looks nice, has the features i wanted. good cooling layout.

Cons: for new processors, you must completed the usb bios flashback. the instructions are very easy and the processes is very simple, except for the fact that it didn't work on my board. i verified 100x times the file was named correctly, i used the re-name tool from asus, and tried 8 different usb sticks to re flash the bios, nothing worked. nothing. all i got was a steady blue light indicating a problem.

so now im doing my first ever rma and who knows what the new board will do when i get it.

1 out of 5 eggsNIGHTMARE!

Pros: Very fast.

Cons: The first one I got was dead on arrival. I RMA'd and after waiting a very long time received a 2nd board. This one booted fine and worked for about 45 days before it crashed. It will no longer boot. I do NOT want to RMA for a 3rd of this same board. This is ridiculous. DO NOT BUY THIS!

5 out of 5 eggsFool proof & Future proof

Pros: Easiest BIOS Flash Fliping EVER!
Good layout

Cons: Expensive, but I knew that.

Other Thoughts: Easiest BIOS Flash ever. Not a board for folks that don't like to read or do any research. YOU MUST-MUST change the BIOS file name to P9X79PRO.CAP. That's P9X79PRO.CAP Other that that, insert a flash drive, press the button w/power to the board and watch the light flash. Even for an ID 10 T case like myself.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Works as designed
Easy overclocking
BIOS Flash Great

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I run a 3930K overclocked at 4.7 at 1.40V with 16GB (4x4) corsair dominator 2133 memory. This board has been flawless and I just installed a GTX 780 ti without a hiccup. I was running SLI 580's no problem as well. I don't write reviews but figured it was time I gave back to the community.

Cons: This board was D.O.A.

Other Thoughts: This board is trash and would never post even once.
