2 out of 5 eggsBeautiful board that's held back by reliability issues; good thing it has an excellent warranty!

Pros: Very comfortable board to work with. Lots of troubleshooting aids, funky LED's, attractive, blazing fast (when it works), SLI support, generous warranty, excellent BIOS, lots of great tools and support by ASUS. Very stable when it works. The ROG Connect feature is great and trust me, you'll need it...

Cons: You'll need the ASUS warranty and support. While it works it runs great and is very stable, unfortunately it doesn't like being turned off and that's the big issue I have with it. Once it's turned off this motherboard turns into a Russian roulette - you never know if it will turn on again! I RMA this thing about once a year since I got it and every time I receive it back it works again for a few months but then the problem rears its ugly head again. It shut down it won't turn back on. Well, sometimes it does - 8 to 24 hours AFTER the power button is pressed. I've searched online and I'm not the only one suffering from this problem.

Other Thoughts: I've RMA'ed this board three times. The first time they exchanged the board. Second and third time they've supposedly fixed it, saying it was an error during BIOS update. Gee, that's interesting because I hadn't tried to update the BIOS the times that I sent it in for RMA. Maybe I got one from a bad batch or something, but it's really frustrating to buy a premium component and it ending up a lot less reliable than a $65 ECS board (I had a venerable K7S5A that cost me all of $65 back in 2001 and that thing NEVER failed yet I paid over $400 for this piece of junk that I need to RMA once a year!).

2 out of 5 eggsASUS Customer Support is a joke...

Pros: Loads of overclocking options, dual Bios, looks nice.

Cons: ASUS Customer support has let me down for the last time. I've had this board for about 2 years, and last month the onboard audio died. None of the analog jacks on the I/O output a signal, however the TOSLINK output/inputs work. Then the PCH cooler fan shroud popped halfway off, after pulling my machine completely apart I managed to get the shroud to go back to it's intended position, if left alone, it would not have cooled the chipset efficiently, leading to it eventually dying. Contacted customer support, they told me that I must have physically damaged my board and it would cost $120 just for them to receive my mobo, they wouldn't let tech's touch it until they had a minimum of $120 for repairs. The board is under this thing called a WARRANTY. The board ran great for 2 years, then I had 2 different failures, one of which was an easy fix. So, after spending ~$500 on a board when it was top of the line, they want another $120 to just open the box when they receive it. Upon reading other reviews on ASUS support, they're equally terrible. People send products in only to receive them back in the same condition with the same issues. Nobody wants to send off their Mobo for a month, just to get the same item back with the same issues. I will never purchase another ASUS product, and it's a shame... they use to be #1 in the business.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: The board itself is loaded with lots of overclocking features.

Cons: Asus let me down. After several months of it running normal all of a sudden the 2 inner memory banks would no longer see the ram losing my quad channel. I tested the ram by switching out the sticks and sure enough they worked. Got an RMA, however the issue was still present after claiming the board was repaired and sent back to me. Sat on the phone for over an hour with another tech who did not know what he was talking about. Finally I had to speak with someone higher up and he did generate a new RMA. It is kind of annoying that I have to pay again to ship this board back for a problem that should have been fixed the first time.

Other Thoughts: When the new Haswell-E comes out I may not use Asus. I had to RMA a board back to MSI and they sent me a brand new board and it was a newer chipset not a fixed or a refurbed.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry that you are having issues with the motherboard. When you have the chance, please contact me through email regarding this case, as I may have a solution in this matter. 3764096.

3 out of 5 eggsAwesome board, RMA team lacks ability to fix things

Pros: Fast, awesome selection of features and excellent for Over Clocking. Stable board. I just love it!

Cons: ASUS RMA team sucks. Board died less than a year old. RMAed to ASUS and they sent it back to me after claiming to have repaired it with the same issue still present. This is not the first time I have had a issue with the ASUS RMA team not doing their job.

Other Thoughts: ASUS needs to rework their RMA team's inability to correct issues the first time around. I should not have to mail a board back a half dozen times before I get one back that works. -_-

Dinging two eggs just for this. This alone is almost reason enough not to buy another ASUS product again.

3 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: This board is amazing for enthusiasts that like to OC. supports top of the line ram and i7. I'm a huge gamer and this board is amazing. I recommend this to anyone.
i7 4930k @ 4.5ghz
Evga x79 dark
Extreme water Cool 2.0
16gb Kingston hyper x quad channel @ 2400
Nvidia GTX 680 OC
Samsung 240 120gb

Cons: I upgraded my PSU from 800w to to Evga Supernova 1300w G2. As soon as I Booted the pc up, instant smoke from the connect to the board. I checked all connections and they were good so I un plugged them all and plugged them back in. I knew I shouldn't try again but I did. Instant smoke again. And now I see where it was burning. Mobo is dead and waiting for RMA from evga. Not sure if this was a fault board, or psu. Would give 5star if it didn't blow.

Other Thoughts: If my next board blows I won't buy another from evga.

5 out of 5 eggsRampage Extreme LGA 2011

Pros: Amazing mobo, everything i expected and everything you need. Out of box was installed with no probs BUT the 4 / 8 pin is located on the top of mobo which kind of made it a pain in the install of my h100i, but i was able to make it work. PCH fan wasnt working, come to find out that the BIOS needed to be updated and it works like a charm now. Speaking of BIOS, the graphical BIOS is the best i have seen or used yet, just amazing thought went into it.
Asus AI Suite is awesome. able to overclock, update bios / firmware on the fly, watch temps and yadda yadda. All i can say is Asus put alot of time and energy into this mobo.. and it can be seen.
64 gb of ram, haha awesome

Cons: none, Like i said the 4/8 ping connector is ontop which made install alittle more of a hassle, but i would not put that into the Cons category

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo plenty of options

Pros: To make this quick as possible I just have to say that this Mobo is exactly what I expected, so user friendly with the GUI EFI and bios buttons. I didn't bother doing a test run on my first post outside of the case and wired the entire shin dig up to my chassis hit the power button and everything from there has been a go

Cons: out of all the Mobo's I've installed this is the first one that had the most inconvenient configuration (keep in mind I haven't installed everything since ever) but some of the placements are awkward to get to after you install components and especially in my full tower case where I have a liquid cooled heat sink on my top mounted fans In a full tower case I found myself fighting some power supply locations..... only reason this Mobo was about to lose an egg (which I explain in my conclusion) was cause of the build and it's only cause I've had easier.... just like James Bond

Other Thoughts: wish my build didn't take 8 hours but I found it was mostly cause I am paranoid about connection points and wire placement on the board according to where the architecture was placed then after I found out how amazingly useful the ROG OC Key is for overclocking the system I figured I've give it that perfect egg especially since I read reviews where people said they had Dead On Arrival products and I can vouch that if you static shield yourself this girl came out of the box and "performed" and that what he said

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: Great motherboard, it does everything I want any more. I haven't had a single problem with it, and it started up no problem.

I have two 780ti's, 64GB of trident ram, and audio card. All fit no problem.

Cons: None so far but if I do encounter a problem I will be sure to post it

Other Thoughts: I did get the warranty on the motherboard just because of all the reviews and negative feedback about the board. Luckily for me, and maybe unlucky for everyone else, I haven't had a single problem with the board at all. Everything is running very smoothly and I haven't had to even attempt to RMA the board.

I wish I could say to get this board and you will be very happy with it but it seems that half of the people that order it get a perfect board, and the other half a faulty one.

5 out of 5 eggsYear Strong

Pros: This board has been being hammered on for the last year. Pretty safe to say it will last another 10 years as my single core ASUS board did. Exceeds expectations overclocking is amazing. Way more features than I will use as I don't game.

Cons: Had a hick-up on the bios reboot like some others. I unhooked the power from the board and it reset.

Other Thoughts: I7-6 core LGA 2011
NZXT-Kraken 60 water cooler
NZXT- Full tower case
G. Skill Ripjaw Z series 32GB ram
5ea WD Blue 750 HD
840 Samsung 256gb SSD
EVGA Super clocked GTX 660
