4 out of 5 eggsGood Overall

Pros: Easy to install, good color scheme, seems to work as it is advertised.

Cons: Hoping an ASUS representative can help me here. After building my new rig with this motherboard it worked flawlessly until I had to move my location to another house. When I set it up at the new location, the wireless is barely detecting anything and now it doesn't even pick up any networks at all. We have verified it is indeed the computer because laptops/smartphones/printers all get a solid connection around the same area as the antenna and still no dice. I am now forced to buy a Network Adapter unless ASUS decides to help me out here.

Other Thoughts: Kind of mad, but it still reserves a solid review.

1 out of 5 eggsLast ASUS Board for me

Pros: None

Cons: Onboard audio stopped working after 2 weeks. Was getting RMA, took board apart and accidentally damaged socket. I know I messed it up, but I would not have had to take it apart to RMA if the audio hadn't died. ASUS was no help.

Other Thoughts: I always used asus. This will be my last asus board.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Board. Friendly BIOS

Pros: - BIOS is extremely great with a great GUI and many advanced options.
- Disk has drivers that help with LAN on new builds. and other fantastic features to get the most out of this MOBO

Cons: SATA ports are sideways and really hard to get them in in some cases. (like mine)

Other Thoughts: Fantastic board for a lower price than the Sabertooths.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing MoBo

Pros: Exellent Quality
PCB is black, not brown
Matches the theme of many desktops
Bios is amazing
Turbo V EVO is amazing
Everything about this board is amazing.

Cons: Chipset gets a little hot, but is to be expected.
Bottom PCI slot shouldn't be used for a graphics card.

Other Thoughts: Holds my i5 3570k and my gtx 770 well.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, Runs cools...but

Pros: The board layout is really, really nice. Everything fits perfectly. The POST LEDs are very helpful as I messed up my RAM installation. I also like the fact that you can over clock with software.

Cons: Maybe I did something wrong but the machine seems to turn on by itself 5 minutes after I turn it off. The first few times this happened, I thought I didn't shut it down but the last few times, about 5 minutes after shutting it down, it comes on automatically as though someone hits the power button. If anyone else out there has experienced the same issue with this board, please reply to this post.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board for the price

Pros: This board is great especially for the price ($200~). Good bios, good for SLI, usb 3.0 boost, and a few bells and whistles thrown in. I haven't tried the WIFI GO so can't comment on that. If you're looking for a cheap but solid motherboard for the price pick this one.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: After reading reviews of this board for a while I had some doubts about it. But then I realized every board in every brand I checked out had some of the same issues: DOA, slots not working, etc. Two major concerns for me were DOA (I ended up buying it while out of state) and RAM not working (almost everything on the Asus QVL is discontinued). I may be daft, but I finally figured out it is easier to go to the RAM manufacturer's site and check for compatibility.

I'm definitely glad I chose this board. I've had zero issues.

The AI Suite is...um...sweet. :)
It gives you a lot of control from within Windows instead of having to reboot and work in the BIOS. You can monitor and control clock speeds, fans, power, RAM, temps, just about everything except the wife.

My BIOS didn't need any flashing.

My RAM was instantly recognized and set at proper values (1600, not default to 1333). I ran Memtest for each stick and on each slot. No probs.

More USB 3.0 available than I currently need.

The layout is nice. No probs getting RAM in with stock cooler. The right angle SATA ports aren't an issue for me either. Yes, they are a little awkward, but not troublesome.

Expandable to 32GB RAM

Wifi... many thanks to all the reviewers who mentioned installing it BEFORE putting the board in the case.

Cons: The LED lights are nice for indicators, but I wish this board showed post codes like my old AB9-Pro.

This BIOS is set to AHCI mode by default. Since I reused a hard drive that was set to IDE mode, it wouldn't boot at first. I found the solution online and fixed it... then I noticed the slip of paper Asus included in the box warning me of that issue and explaining how to fix it (oops).

Video card renders neighboring slots unusable. I guess this is the case for every manufacturer now that cards are thicker, but you'd think someone would start figuring out how to accomodate that issue.

I have my computer hardwired, so wifi really isn't an issue, but I expected if I disconnected the ethernet cable (or it failed for some reason) the wifi would automatically kick in. This isn't the case. No biggie.

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these a few weeks ago from a chain store while in another state because NewEgg raised the price on the day I was going to order it & it ended up being cheaper to pay taxes and all. Bad Newegg. :p

1 out of 5 eggsThis is the first bad experience I've had on newegg

Pros: Can't list because motherboard came DOA.

Cons: Usually I've had good experiences with my Newegg orders in the past but this time they sent me a very dead on arrival motherboard, much like the many reviews on here also show. It would simply not turn on, I tested it with various supported sticks of Ram, two different adequate power supplies, tried resetting CMOS and battery, etc. This board was definitely dead.
I RMA'd the product and a few days later they sent a message that I had caused physical damage to the CPU pins. I've built and installed CPUs into over a dozen PCs in my life and never had an issue, I know what I'm doing. No pins were bent by my use and even examining the pins with the naked eye I could not see any damage.
So what ever happened did so before it ever reached me.

Not sure if ASUS themselves will replace it or if this will just end up being another 1-2 week RMA process waste of time to find out. It will take Newegg 5-10 business days just to send the package back to me before I can even send it to ASUS. It's taking so long at this point I might just order another one, but of course this time not from Newegg.

Other Thoughts: I hope not many people were treated in the same fashion when their boards arrived DOA, which seems very common with this model in particular.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are being blamed for bent pins. Try calling newegg again and try talking to their manager to see if they can overturn the decision as I have read in some of these reviews that they have made exceptions.

If you send the unit in for service to ASUS, we will identify the bent pins and you will have to pay the service fees to have the unit replaced. Looks like if you do send the unit in for service, you will not be charged the full amount of the motherboard. I believe they will charge you 85% of the original amount.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

Regards,

Jeffrey

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: This motherboard has more features in it than I would ever use, which is a good thing. :)

Extremely easy to OC the cpu using the Suite II software, had my 2600k up to 4.3ghz with no problems. The UEFI is so much easier to navigate and use than any older bios. The wireless features works great, and the fact that it has the ability to act as an AP made was a welcome surprise. There have been many times I needed to copy something from one pc to another and didn't want to use the bandwidth on our router because we were watching netflix on the tv. Really liking the feature to charge devices while the pc is off, very convenient.

Cons: A little on the expensive side, but well worth it.

Other Thoughts: I've had nothing but a great experience with this MB. I highly recommend it to anyone, or at the very least if the price of this is out of your budget, then go with one of the lower end p8z77 boards. Same great quality just a few less features.
