TUF stands for The Ultimate Force. The TUF series delivers a “tough” image. With a unique design and high-quality components (military-standard), the TUF series is born for pursuing preeminent stability, all-round compatibility, and extreme durability.

Start with the ultimate cooling solution, which combines TUF Thermal Armor for total airflow-boosting heat dissipation, and TUF Thermal Radar for real time temp detection and heat removal. The military-standard TUF Components, such as Choke, Cap. and MOSFET, enable rock solid stability even under heavy duty or severe environments. New DIGI+ Power Control presents an all-new precise digital power control for CPU, iGPU and DRAM for better efficiency and overclocking margin. More features like UEFI BIOS for full-scale performance tuning with easy BIOS Interface, USB 3.0 Boost technology, network iControl for real-time bandwidth control and USB BIOS Flashback for easy, worry-free BIOS update or recovery guarantee an incredible performance, easy functionality tweaking, and effortless system maintenance. The LucidLogix Virtu MVP enables up to a 60% hybrid graphics boost while the SLI and CrossFireX support in combination with the PCIe 3.0 capabilities push the graphics performance to a new level to bring you a brand new gaming experience.

  • newegg "Ultimate COOL!" Thermal Solution New generation Thermal Armor boosts cooling with dual turbo fans, enhancing the original TUF thermal design and helping direct hot air away from components and the motherboard via smart shunt funneling. It covers the entire board with more powerful airflow, and uses special heat pipes to expedite thermal removal and make sure temperatures stay low. The dedicated I/O cover fan draws additional cold air in and expels even more heat for improved stability, plus special convection holes in the PCB facilitates underside airflow. Thermal Radar monitors temperatures in critical parts of the board, automatically adjusting fan speeds for better system stability. Fan Overtime keeps fans working in critical minutes post shutdown to extend component lifespan, dropping temperatures by 45°F in just ten minutes after the computer turns off. New Fan Off consists of a switch that disables fans should temperatures drop below a manually or automatically set level for effective power consumption.
  • newegg TUF Components (Choke, Cap. and MOSFET; Certified by Military-Standard) Get rugged performance even in the most challenging conditions with robust TUF chokes, solid capacitors, and MOSFETs--certified through third-party, military-grade testing. TUF Choke, also known as the “Alloy Choke”, is made of a compound of various types of metal instead of standard iron, enabling the support of up to a massive 40A of rated current, 25% higher than conventional components. Furthermore, the single piece packaging also eliminates the emission of vibration noise, delivering superb characteristics as well as durability under extreme conditions.
  • newegg New DIGI+ Power Control New DIGI+ Power Control includes multiple digital voltage controllers, allowing ultra-precise modulation and tuning for CPU, iGPU, and DRAM. This innovative and industry-leading ASUS technology provides an extremely accurate voltage tuning for better efficiency, stability, and performance. With the next generation Intel VRD 12.5 future power design, CPU wattage can be decreased by half, creating a cooler and quieter PC. This innovation of industry-leading ASUS technology provides the smartest control for better power saving scenarios.
  • newegg LucidLogix Virtu MVP LucidLogix Virtu MVP featuring HyperFormance Technology boosts your discrete graphics card up to 60% beyond its original performance through the test of 3DMark Vantage. Designed for Intel processor graphics and Windows 7 PCs, it perfectly combines the performance of discrete graphics cards with fast computing iGPU. Also with the newly designed Virtual Sync, users can enjoy a smoother gaming experience by eliminating tearing artifacts. LucidLogix Virtu MVP could also dynamically assign tasks to the best available graphics resource, based on power, performance and system load. This allows users to fully utilize three times faster video conversion with Intel Quick Sync Video technology while retaining high-end 3D rendering and gaming performance, provided by both NVIDIA and AMD graphic cards. When the discrete graphics card is not required, power consumption goes automatically down to near zero, making the system more environmentally-friendly.
  • newegg Intel Smart Response Technology Intel Smart Response Technology boosts overall system performance. It uses an installed fast SSD (min 18.6GB available capacity required) as a cache for frequently accessed data. Key benefits include reduced load and wait times, and lower power consumption through the elimination of unnecessary hard drive spin. This technology combines SSD performance with hard drive capacity, operating up to six times faster than a hard drive-only system.
  • newegg SLI and CrossFireX Support SABERTOOTH Z77 brings you the multi-GPU choice of either SLI or CrossFireX. The motherboard features the most powerful Intel Z77 platform to optimize PCIe allocation in multiple GPU configurations. Expect a brand-new gaming style you’ve never experienced before!

5 out of 5 eggsSABERTOOTH Z77

Pros: Setup was easy, new bios is great, the board itself is sturdy & the look is awesome

Cons: I've been used to header ports facing up & none on the sides

Other Thoughts: Sata headers on the right side are a little tight when plugging in all your sata cables...

5 out of 5 eggsGood motherboard

Pros: I was worried about the mix reviews but one year later and no problems. All the drivers were way out of date of course but other than that its performs well and was easy to install. It never gets hot even after 12 hours of running it stays at around 70 degrees.

Cons: The drivers were way out of date including the one to the internet which was a pain to get fixed since I could connect to the internet to get the new driver!

Other Thoughts: Would recommend to anyone. Don't see why there are negative reviews. This was my first build and it worked out perfectly

2 out of 5 eggs2nd PCI E slot dies

Pros: Looks neat. Nice touch with the "armor"

Cons: 2nd PCI slot is dead, thus unable to SLI. I've googled this and the numbers of people who are experiencing this issue are legion.

Other Thoughts: I strayed from EVGA motherboards probably for the last time. I'll attempt an RMA and see what struggle I must endure.

4 out of 5 eggsAftermarket cooler issues

Pros: It has worked for 3 years with very few issues.

Cons: The reinforced CPU backplate makes it difficult or impossible to install aftermarket coolers because the reinforcing bracket won't fit on the back of the mobo or the screws/standoffs will be too short from not being flush with the board. I cannot tell you how frustrating having to take sandpaper to plastic standoffs is.

3 out of 5 eggsAsus Sabretooth

Pros: I have had the mother board for over a year with no issues. Comes with the standard features and utilities that you would expect.

Cons: 1. Not the friendliest install. Make sure that you read all of the instructions before you start. Especially if you will be installing a larger after market CPU fan.
2. The ASUS utilities never seem to update correctly. I assume that it is just a problem with the ASUS site.

Other Thoughts: Many reviews have these failing at 3 years. Will have to wait and see.

1 out of 5 eggsCORRECTION! My previous review for an X58, but who cares? It's all ASUS mobos, apparently.

Pros: None, really. A product working as it's supposed to for a year or two is not a pro. It's expected.

Cons: My previous review was for the Sabertooth X58 motherboard. Apparently it no longer even exists. I also own this mobo. It's great to know it will meet the same fate as my X58. Don't buy either. I'll never touch ASUS again.

Other Thoughts: Not with a 30' pole.

1 out of 5 eggsWarning! Only good for 3 years max. Warranty will not be honored.

Pros: Great motherboard, for 2 - 3 years. It has a 5 year (parts and service) warranty, so I'm not sure this is actually a pro.

Cons: It dies after 2 - 3 years, usually taking whatever video adapter is in the primary slot with it. In my case an ASUS 660 Ti, which I've also had HELL replacing.

If you return the product (which support will try vehemently to assure never happens), it will be returned to you without being touched. The entire process will be frustrating, if not infuriating.

It also uses triple channel RAM and has a lower max capacity then many comparable boards.

Other Thoughts: The only reason I imagine someone would buy this board is their decision to also purchase an odd socket i7 like I did. My advice would be to get a "normal" i7, a comparable board with dual or quad channel RAM, and much less headaches.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible customer service

Pros: Worked for about 3 years on a 5 year warranty. Randomly died one day. Fans would spin and everything would power on but no boot. Replaced cpu, ram, psu checked faulty power button wires etc before sending in board.

Cons: Customer service gives you a horrible run around. I sent my board back in Jan 14', took until the end of January to get it back. I get a "refurbished" board back that was in worse shape than my original with warped out mounting holes, scratched surfaces and my tough armor fans were not returned. I was told they were "accessories". Well the tough armor is removable too, doesn't that make it an "accessory". It is now half way through March AWAITING a response from the motherboard section manager about what they are going to do since the second board that was supposed to be fixed was DOA and totally junk. I've contacted them multiple times trying to get an answer on my cross ship and I get ignored. ASUS lost a customer from this whole ordeal. Never again.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

If I may, I would like to help. Please send me an email, including the serial number and RMA number, and I can look further into this case. My email is cl-mark@asus.com. 3556093.
