1 out of 5 eggsGARBAGE, D.O.A.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Dead On Arrival, no POST, no nothing. Tried different DDR3's, Tried unplugging everything that was not needed. No beeps, no nothing.

Other Thoughts: Asus and MSI have goen downhill. I guess I will look at other brands.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you received a unit DOA. Please make sure you have no bent pins as this can cause DOA. Have you tried clearing CMOS. Have you tried updating the bios to see if that will resolve your issue as well.

Here is a link below where you can get the latest bios and drivers. You can also check to see if your RAM is in our QVL list. Make sure you select which OS you have installed.

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P8Z77-V%20LX&p=1&s=39

If you have tried all this and still having issues. You can try contacting Newegg and request a replacement if you are still under their return policy.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

Regards,

Jeffrey

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Love the Bios/Advanced and Simple mode in Bios/Even in Advanced it is pretty easy to find your way around/Great interface, nothing was hard to find.

Cons: Non that I could see for the moment I had it....

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately I only had a a little while to use it because it was defective. Not gonna lower the rating a whole bunch because it happens from time to time. 5 stars once I get my new non defective part. Would recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mid-Range z77 Motherboard

Pros: I originally bought a Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 but when i upgraded my cpu from a 3570k to a 3770K i bent and broke one of the cpu socket pins on the asrock mobo when a screw driver rolled off a box and landed directly onto the cpu socket of the asrock mobo (yes bad luck indeed) i managed to fix the mobo after it wouldnt even boot to bios (drdebug read 00) So after i fixed the broke pin dual channel no longer worked so i opted to buy a new mobo.

I was going to just buy another Asrock z77 Extreme 4 board but opted to go with this Asus board because regardless of some of the complaints posted here on newegg for this particular board...if you do enough research online outside of newegg you will see that this board and all the P8Z77-V series boards are very good and all come with imho the best GUI bios screen (UEFI System Browser) out of Asrock, Gigabyte and MSI which i've worked on all 4 brand of Z77 mid-range class of motherboards. The Gigabyte mid-range boards to be honest are not bad at all..in fact they are probably a tad better feature wise, same with Asrock Extreme 4 but i always found Asus to be more experienced with high end boards..which quite honestly Asus mainly focused on high end boards..so seeing them coming out with a nice class of mid-range PC enthusiast boards really excited me and i was right...i had absolutely zero problems with this LX model. I have worked with a few higher end Asus Z77 boards and this LX board pretty much has all the overclocking features of the more expensive Asus Z77 boards...im not talking about their extreme super high end boards but compared to their 200 dollar range board give or take 20-30 bucks..this board can compete with it. Also i read a very good review on this LX board that was reviewed against Asrocks Z77 Extreme 6 board and this LX board beat it in most benchmarks.

The problem with some of these negative user reviews is that people do not realize all brands of mobos have their DOA boards..i've had them with some of the best rated mobo's ever in my past experiences in buying mobo's..so take a user's negative remarks as a grain of salt. People seem to forget that Asus is still one of the best..if not the best at making quality boards and this still stands true today.

Anyways - i had zero issues, my 3770K is running at 24c on air cooling when idle compared to my Asrock Extreme 4 running it at 32c on air cooling when idle.. The overclocking features are nice and well thought-out, the board itself is of nice quality as expected from Asus and if you do not care about Crossfire..save yourself some bucks and get this board..its better than what some of these user reviews in here say..just do your research on this board..you will see some great reviews on it.

Intel i7 3770k
Asus P8Z77-V LX
CM 212+ CPU Cooler(push/pull)
Sapphire 7970 GPU
G.SKill Sniper 1600 DDR3
XFX 550Watt Core Edition PSU
Arctic Silver CMQ2-Céramique 2 Tri-Linear Ceramic Compound
ThermalTake Versa 2 Mid-Tower Case - Six 12

Cons: None - for what i paid (109 dollars) i cant expect any more for what i got which was a high quality mid-range board with excellent overclocking abilities. I could of went higher end but certain things to me personally werent needed like wifi, SLI/Crossfire Abilities..i always use a single GPU card..two video cards are too much hassle imho.

Other Thoughts: Again, always take newegg's negative user reviews as a grain of salt. How many times have you seen someone get a item that was DOA and hastily stated i will never buy from this brand again? As that old saying goes "S**t Happens" and life aint perfect nor are material things..i've had my share of DOA products from certain brands but i never avoided them because i got a bunk dead product delivered to me..who's to say it was not damaged during shipment? Or an item slipped passed QUality assurance at the factory? These things happen..if you look at reviews online for this board or the Asus P8Z77-V series of boards which include the PRO, LE, LX, LK,etc..they are basically all the same besides feature wise but overall they are eactly the same board as far as quality and components used in the board...you will see that this board is up there with the best of the mid-range Z77 boards.

1 out of 5 eggsasus is terrible service

Pros: none

Cons: i have been ordering from new egg for 10+ years and as of late the service is terrible . you will send back your not working part just to get a refurbish one , then if that one doesn't work you will have to go through the manufacturer . this is were the circle jerk starts, and i will never stop and nobody will take responsibility for a bad product. then you are stuck eating this order with out the part you need after a month or so!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: I have been running with this board since the Z77/IVB platform was released last year. Nothing but great things to say.

I was running the second "beta" of Windows 8 and they had drivers for Windows 8 almost immediately. I have other platforms that I am still awaiting official drivers for.

So far, so good

Cons: None I can see.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA mobo and DOA cpu fan

Pros: None

Cons: I bought a motherboard and a cpu. The mobo was broken and one of the wires on the cpu fan was cut. Took about two weeks to get everything smoothed over. I was sent a CoolerMaster fan that was very hard to attach and it came with no instructions. One of the most frustrating times of my life.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the experience you had with the motherboard. Can you try the following to troubleshoot no POST / boot scenario on the board:

Check that your CPU is supported by the board's BIOS version. The BIOS version can be identified as the last four digits of a bar code label on the side of the motherboard. Then, reference the CPU Support list: http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/P8Z77V_LX/#support_CPU.

Makes sure that the power connections, specifically the 24-pin and 8-pin/4-pin are plugged in. Do you see standby LED on? Do the CPU or SYS fans spin at power on? If not, try another power supply.

Check that the Clear_CMOS jumper is inserted in positions 1 and 2.

To ensure that memory will work with the motherboard, use memory from our Qualified Vendors List (QVL): http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/P8Z77V_LX/#support_QVL. Try using one DIMM in the recommended slot for a simple test.

Clear CMOS. Turn off the computer. Switch off PSU, or unplug from the outlet. Wait until the standby LED goes out. Position jumpers from 1 and 2 to 2 and 3 for 5 seconds, then move back to 1 and 2. Power on the system.

Plug a system speaker to the 4-pin speaker connector and monitor for beep codes that sound when you turn on the computer.

1 long beep and 2 short beeps = memory
1 long beep and 3 short beeps = VGA

If you use onboard video, please check if your CPU has integrated graphics capability. Visit http://ark.intel.com and check your CPU model for Integrated Graphics. Desktop processors models that end with letter "P" and Xeon's that do not end with number "5" do not have integrated graphics; If using discrete graphics, does the video card fan spin at power on? If not, replace the card.

If you still having trouble with the motherboard, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com or call us at 1-812-282-2787 for continued support. Thank you.

Benson

3 out of 5 eggs2 Dimms not working

Pros: Really nice board, lot of features.

Cons: DIMM1 and DIMM2 are not working at all. The red light MEM OK keeps flashing in red, even if I press MEM OK button... I just refunded it and bought a P8Z77-V LE at a local store, which works really nicely.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the DIMM slots on this motherboard. If MEMOK! flashes repeatedly, please shut down the system and clear CMOS. Please try clearing CMOS before trying various memory configurations, making sure that the DIMMS are fully inserted into the slots, and use QVL memory for best compatibility: http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/P8Z77V_LX/#support_QVL. We're glad to hear that the P8Z77-V LE is working well. Please call us at 1-812-282-2787 or email me at cl-benson@asus.com for support and service. Thank you.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Didnt get to find out

Cons: Got it all installed and the USB ports were completely messed out. Devices plugged into them would just turn on and off constantly. Spent all day trying to fix it, then RMA'd it today. Guess I'll see if it goes through and I can get a working one before I review it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the issue with the USB ports. Please let me know if you need any assistance with your RMA or have other questions or concerns with the motherboard. My email is cl-benson@asus.com (reference #C1037-8402 in the subject line). Thank you.
