5 out of 5 eggsRock solid, easy set up

Pros: Was easy to install and set up. Bios is straightforward. Has a lot of bells and whistles. Asus software seems to be getting less obtrusive.

Cons: Would have liked a second chassis fan connector.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great works!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: this is like a micro atx form factor almost. so you might miss out on a few extra connections.. make sure you read the specifications to make sure it has every port you need

3 out of 5 eggsDon't count on tech support from ASUS

Pros: Didn't have the mobo for that long to identify definite pros.

Cons: ASUS support was just a joke: phone conversation was constantly breaking up even though I was calling from a landline. Online chat was not available on at least two occasions during advertised hours due to "severe weather conditions". Once finally connected to online chat, answered all questions I was asked and then the guy just stopped responding and a few minutes later, chat session was terminated due to inactivity (no transcript emailed). Replicated the situation 2 more times and gave up. Not much relevant support (rather none) on the ASUS site. Some help was available through independent forums. Eventually figured out the problem on my own.
Also, entering RAID config utility is tricky: no response to CTRL-I 4 times out of 5.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, but frustrating.

Pros: Looks good, everything appears to be working.

Cons: Really not happy that there is only 1 Case fan. I suppose that is my fault for not looking for that in the first place.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay board, great value

Pros: This board is the foundation for a design and drafting computer and has given me no problems. The quality is up to Asus standards.

Cons: As long as you know that the board has only 2 fan connectors and is undersized then there really is no con.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a very average board. Asus quality assures me that this will continue to function long after the components connected to it are obsolete. This is no frills or extra special features, and for the price paid you shouldn't expect any.

2 out of 5 eggsNot so great

Pros: reasonable price, usb 3.0.

Cons: Could not set controller to ACHI mode from IDE in BIOS, system won't boot. I have changed a few laptops from IDE to ACHI in BIOS and some laptops are 3 year old, they worked great as far as SSD goes. My 3 year old plus laptop disk WEI is 7.9 while the new desktop installed on this mobo only got 7.5 despite it has SATA 6Gbs and the laptop SATA II. Contacted ASUS support and the tech suggested modify BIOS to ACHI then re-install Win 7 as a TRY not a FIX. I am tired of reinstalling OS since I already did once and too many software needs to be reinstalled as well and most of all, since it was a TRY I do not want to waste my time if it does not work. If ASUS could come up with a FIX it should be a BIOS firmware. Very disappointed in ASUS mobo this time. I purchased a few ASUS mobos before and not getting a bad one until this time. Also RAM CONFIG that ASUS suggested was 1B and 2B, did not work. Only worked 2A and 2B (2 Crucial sticks, 8 GB ea)

Other Thoughts: Reasonable price however I am willing to spend a little more for a better mobo.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsWorked but 1 ram slot doa

Pros: Good looking lighting quick POST and boot. The GUI bios is the first I have ever used and it was nice and easy to use. The bios had easy mode and advanced mode. It was easy to move around boot devices and change settings to optimize for SDD drives.

Cons: Didn't have it long enough to determine cons other than the fact that it had a dead RAM slot. Which I am for the first time disappointed with NEWEGG customer service. I receive something that doesn't work 100% I sent it back with an RMA they approve it, then tell me oh the pins are bent its your fault have a nice day. Calling ASUS tech support, we'll see how that goes.

Other Thoughts: newegg, I was under the impression if something arrives in your customers hands damaged and it is the first RMA that customer has filed in over 8 years of doing business with you, you would give them the benefit of the doubt and replace the defective equipment.

Besides newegg hardheadness, it is a nice mobo and I can honestly say, ASUS is one of the best mobo's you can get for your money.

1 out of 5 eggsDissatisfied with this ASUS motherboard

Pros: can support 16GB RAM and multiple drives, BIOS UI covers a lot

Cons: BIOS UI contains minimal help, easy to make incorrect selections, apparently very easy to damage through normal use

Other Thoughts: Purchased 5/13/13 and initially worked well without problems. But I quickly found that the onboard sound and graphics were not what I needed as a developer. In late July 2013 I decided to upgrade both by buying Creative Soundblaster and AMD Radeon expansion cards. I installed the supporting software for both and thought I was happy. The new cards functioned well, but I quickly found that I no longer had network access. What?? That's right .. and I was VERY careful when installing the cards, having done so here and there for 25 years (built PCs as my job for almost a year, built 4 of my own PCs and helped several friends and customers throughout the years). Regardless, I pulled the new cards and after THAT didn't work I reinstalled the new ones one at a time. After that didn't work I contacted ASUS only to find that their support hrs are such that It is difficult for me to contact them when they are available. Finally, on a day off, I contacted them. The online tech chat was knowledgeable or at least appeared so and suggested a download. After that install still no network. On a 2nd tech chat that new tech also seemed knowledgeable but was unable to solve my problem. Finally I just requested an RMA only to find that I must pay for shipping the MB back within a very compressed time frame at my own expense. So, since I only had use of the MB for under 90 days and have to pay for the replacement and for shipment (which I understand is REFURBISHED, not a replacement), I also have to pay to return the defective product. A BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE to say the least. I have no problem paying for a replacement when they are sending the replacement first .. that's normal, and they release the hold on my account once they receive the defective product. But having to pay for shipping BOTH WAYS is not what I am used to.

2 out of 5 eggsGreatest Warranty I Have Ever Had

Pros: -Attractive and easy-to-use BIOS.
-Looks pretty.

Cons: -See "other thoughts"

Other Thoughts: After a year, an issue arose where my computer would boot all the way to the log-in screen, then go black (while still playing sound). After using a few GPUs to check it, I sent this in to ASUS for "repairs." After paying for shipping, they sent it back in brand new packaging, cleaned and beautiful,
but in the same condition I had sent it in. Doesn't work. I'm done.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Dan,

Have you confirmed in the BIOS that the primary graphics card has been selected to be used? When this happens again plug your monitor into the on-board display port and test to see if the display comes up then. Further, what troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? Please send the requested information along with your components used in your build to my email, and I would be happy to troubleshoot this issue for you.

Regards,

Mark

2 out of 5 eggsDVI does not work

Pros: Decent, reliable board for the price except for some issues

Cons: DVI does not appear to work. Bad technical support from manufacture (but not uncommon for motherboards). Early versions of BIOS had weird issues with drive ordering, but this has been fixed.
