5 out of 5 eggsGreat product...

Pros: Nice lay out,
Many USB and USB 3 ports,
Several SATA ports,
Up to 32 GB RAM
and many more features in a mini-ATX.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This was an upgrade for a store bought PC that was crashing on me while playing Wold of Tanks. The original Mobo was also an ASUS (P8H61 M-Pro), but for some reason it did not like that game. I had already upgraded the GPU to an EVGA GTX 660 and the PSU to a Thermaltake 600, then a Corsair 750 without fixing the problem. Moved all the internals to a better case with good airflow, a Fractal design mini R2 with lots of fans, but to no avail. The next thing I upgraded was the Mobo. I could not be happier. It has been working great. Added an Intel 520 SSD 128Gb, then later on a Samsung 840 Pro SSD 256 Gb. The whole system works great, boots up superfast, handles all my games at max settings without any problem. All my applications run great. Temps remain relatively low.
I have 16 Gb RAM at this time, which is more than I need for my day to day apps and still have room to double the amount. There is also enough room to add another GPU in SLI if I want to without making it too cramped.
In other words, for being my first "accidental" build, I am quite satisfied with my first Mobo.
As far as ASUS customer service is concerned, I can not say much about it since I did not have any need for it.

2 out of 5 eggsNope, it's really hit or miss

Pros: Very little. Once it's up, it's a good little board. It just becomes a minor hassle with the cons.

Might soon be framed into Geek artwork to hang on the wall...of shame.

Cons: The fix I had, and may have said already prior, is to leave the CMOS battery out. Set up the BIOS the way you want it then save that setup in the OC profiles.

If you ever shut this down you have to turn off power, ensure the LED on the board goes out, turn power back on, boot into the BIOS, restore saved BIOS, save and reboot, then update time time and date in the OS (or web certs won't be allowed).

If you don't do all of this you can wear out the power button on your computer because it does absolutely nothing. It's not a dead board, just an inherent problem with this model in which no BIOS update nor CMOS battery could fix.

Other Thoughts: Sorry, it's really hit or miss. You got one that works and you got lucky. The reviews are legitimate as you don't see this level of bad reviews on many other Asus boards.

I've got a picture and a video holding it to prove I have it. If you want a video of me pushing the button for 24hrs, I guess I could do that too. Or one where I just push it 5 times, doesn't even budge, then go through this process and it boots and POSTS, that'd be easier ;)

It's discontinued so it's not a major concern anymore, but many people come here to view the reviews for refurbs or external sales. This is not a board to trust.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing board. All the issues have been fixed.

Pros: I was worried about buying this board with some of the negative reviews on here. People were making complaints like:

1. CMOS must be cleared every time you do a restart.
2. USB 3.0 Ports are troublesome and/or do not work.
3. Board will not post.
4. CPU Fan speed too high

Now all these reviews are from 2012. As of the time of this review it is March 2014. I have owned a lot of ASUS boards over the years and they have never let me down. I also own the ATX version of this board in my gaming pc, the P8z77-V LX, and it has performed well for me.

I bought this board as an open box item at an amazing price. Given the bad reviews here, I was a little worried but figured it was worth the risk. I received it with the latest BIOS and firmware already flashed onto the board. Needless to say, the new BIOS and firmware fix all of the above issues.

Although, I suspect that some of the USB 3.0 issues are from people not understanding that you do in fact need to install 2 sets of USB 3.0 drivers (Intel and ASMedia) because they use 2 chipsets on the board.

In a way, I even doubt the authenticity of some of these reviews. They are really over the top. I think newegg should start investigating the legitimacy of some of these reviewers. I strongly suspect that some competitors are putting out false reviews and boosting their own reviews. But I don't care, ASUS has always come through for me.

Anyway, I'm SUPER stoaked to get this board for so cheap! Thanks Newegg

Cons: My only complaint was that it was hard to get the SATA cables plugged in due to the limited room in my antec fusion case.

Everything is working great for my HTPC build. Running it in an antec fusion case with a core i7-3770k, 8gb ram, 120gb ssd, radeon hd6450 video card, and a drobo 5d for fast usb3 storage with 8tb of wd green harddrives.

1 out of 5 eggs0 for 5

Pros: Great until you reset your computer.

Cons: Own 5 of these. Board will not POST after power cycle unless you remove the CMOS battery and clear CMOS. This includes one board that was RMA'ed.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother one bites the dust

Pros: Looks nice, and has a good color scheme. Sadly it's just a dream that this board will work. I'd imagined a system in my dream that could smash bf4, and game with all my buds, however...

Cons: Won't even post. Need I say more? some of these boards are plagued with bad BIOS, compatibility, and infant mortality rates. My motherboard had a case of SMDS (sudden moterboard death syndrome) if i ever saw it. (not trying to be insensitive to the death's of infants.)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry that your computer will not POST. At your earliest convenience, please contact me through email, and we can discuss this case further. Within the email, please include the serial number of the motherboard, any troubleshooting steps tried, and your full computer component list. 3428803.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board, But Do Your Research

Pros: 4-pin fan connectors in ideal locations.

Good overclocking. No need to buy expensive motherboards unless you do sub-zero OCing.

Cons: Only one CPU fan connector. However, not a lot of motherboards do this, but it would have been nice.

USB 3.0 port is not right-angled. However, I have only seen this on a couple of motherboards, so it is not just this board. I just wished manufacturers had the foresight to implement this. This can cause unnecessary strain on the the USB 3.0 wire and port.

The CPU socket is a little too close to the first PCIe slot. Any large CPU coolers will interfere (i.e. encrouch) with any GPU. I owned the Maximus V Gene and the clips on a large CPU heat sink will touch the PCB of a GPU. Slip anything non-conductive between and you are good to go. Not with this one. The GPU will not even fit. If you buy this motherboard, then use a smaller heat sink or just use water coolers.

Other Thoughts: The top PCIe is the only 3.0 x 16 slot. The other (3rd PCIe slot) 3.0 one is only x 8. This is common for any Z77 motherboards. If you use a large heat sink, then you will not be able to use the best bandwidth available right now.

I have not experienced any problems with my motherboard. If you read the reviews on Newegg, then you will know that there is a higher failure rate associated with this board, so buyer beware. I just want to let everyone know that it doesn't happen with all of them. You will have to be one of the unlucky ones.

The board is blue, which is a safe choice. There are a lot of blue accessories out there. I wouldn't say this is a pro - it all depends on what you like personally.

Z77 board with all the modern bells and whistles that a Z77 chip can give you. Z77 chips only allow for two 6gbps SATA 3 ports. You shouldn't need more than that anyway. Raid 0 for SSDs are possible. Everything else that use SATA connections don't need 6gbps - SATA 2 ports will be enough.

Basic warranty. Nothing special there.

Overall, it is a good board if it works.

1 out of 5 eggsLast review, 3/3

Pros: NONE.
lots of potential.
most of these boards are too buggy or had a bad BIOS to begin with..
worked for about one month then RMA, after RMA was using wireless.
plugged in CAT-5 and crashed, can't install drivers either.
AGAIN..

Cons: ASUS RMA is a joke.
Sent back the same board with the NIC still busted, they probably didn't even attempt to fix it.

Other Thoughts: most of these boards are too buggy or had a bad BIOS to begin with..

plugged in CAT-5 and crashed, can't install drivers either.
