4 out of 5 eggsP8Z77-v LK

Pros: Solid board for the price. The only difference between this and the next step up is the Voltage regulator (Deluxe) and Wifi (Pro) so if your comfortable with Solid stepping in terms of Overclocking you'll be happy with this board.

Cons: Haven't Found any yet

Other Thoughts: I own my own business doing Technical Service with Computers and related computers. I was approached by a client who had $x.xx budget and after a few hours research I decided upon this board... Exactly one week later I purchased the same board again for my Personal build. That should say it all.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Customer Service

Pros: Worked for a month and a half.

Cons: The first PCI-e slot started to malfunction after a month and a half as well as random errors occurring. The board also doesn't overclock very well as I'm down to a 4.5GHz clock from a 4.8GHz clock on a previous board.

Other Thoughts: Asus support still has not processed my RMA request and I have not received the RMA form after a full two weeks. I am very disappointed in the service I have received and the board. I have owned several Asus products and none have performed so poorly.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for about a year

Pros: This was a good motherboard while it lasted. I started out looking at some of the higher-end Z77 motherboards from ASUS (something with a better audio solution) but settled on this one. The analog audio output was better than I had expected. It's features and versatility made it a great value until it started flaking out on me.

Cons: Totally unreliable after a few months of use!

I bought this motherboard for new build in April of 2013, along with an i5-3570K, a Radeon HD7950, 8GB DDR3 2133, etc. Nothing is overclocked.

My new rig didn't get a lot of use (just some occasional gaming) until a few months ago when I started using WMC to watch/record TV. Once I got rid of my cable box, the computer stayed on most of the time.

Within the last couple of weeks the computer has started halting and powering down at random. I never see a BSOD--the computer just freezes, becoming completely unresponsive, and eventually turns itself off. I never get more than a few hours to a day of uptime before it shuts down.

If I try restarting it shortly after it's locked up or shut down, things get even worse. It will either boot and stay up for a couple minutes or POST and give me a USB over current error--if it even POSTs at all!

I've tried swapping out the RAM, removing the video card, etc, to no effect. It's not a windows/software issue and I doubt that it's the CPU. Increasing CPU and DRAM voltages and lowering clock speeds seems to buy me a little more uptime, but not enough to draw any conclusions from. None of the components are running hot or showing any signs of distress.

Based on everything I've tried and all the other reviews on this motherboard, I can only conclude that this motherboard is unreliable and a terrible value in the long run.

Other Thoughts: I've been using ASUS motherboards in all my builds. However, the ASUS motherboard in my previous build wasn't perfect either. Every once in a while it would fail to POST and I'd have to clear to the CMOS to get it working again. I trusted ASUS. I thought it was a good brand and that my previous problems were just a fluke. I'm sad to say that I don't feel that way anymore. It's time to find a new brand.

3 out of 5 eggsQuestionable Benchmarks

Pros: full featured good price, appears to be a stable product

Cons: Not sure about this product as something is off on the benchmark scores, running a i7-3770K , ddr3-1600 memory and a nvidia gtx770 gpu. benchmark scores are quite low for both cpu and gpu at approx. 50 to 65 % of what's posted else where.

Other Thoughts: had this product for about 2 months and no real issues just runs much slower than the benchmark scores and olderer ancient system I intended to replace, amd 1090t and dual 560 ti sli...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Great motherboard for the price. Always loved ASUS there a great company. Supports all the latest I series and then some. Has USB 3.0 and Sata 6 on board. Lots of USB 2.0 connecters there’s four plugs on the board for 8 more. And one USB 3.0.

Cons: It only has one USB 3.0 add on and only two Sata 6 they should have at least 4 sata 6 its been around for a while now.

Other Thoughts: If your using the onboard video you must have a CPU with integrated graphics otherwise it won’t work. The graphics are now in the CPU not the motherboard. Also if you get a yellow flag in device manager for PCI Simple Communications Controller just go to ASUS and download the latest chipset diver that will fix it. It came up for me I was using windows 7 64 bit

1 out of 5 eggsNot a good board.

Pros: Worked for a month or two.

Cons: Lots of random BSOD's and freezes.

Other Thoughts: Like many others, I have had loads of random BSOD's and freezes with this board. Went through a full battery of tests on other hardware, tried different BIOS settings, tried completely fresh install of win 7, got a new power supply, flashed the bios, still crashing. Ran fine for a few months then all the problems started.

At this point I am thinking the culprit must be a bad mobo. Worst experience I have had in 10 plus years of building my own systems.

Unfortunately problems only started after 30 day return policy.

Weird, I am a big Asus fan, but this design is a real lemon.

5 out of 5 eggsworks as intended

Pros: Decent price for a midrange z77. Good bios. No issues with any of my hardware.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was just recently emailed regarding the acceptance of my rebate (submitted less than a month ago). I have never had a problem with ASUS rebates. You just have to follow their very convoluted instructions to a T.

1 out of 5 eggsLess than a year old, tapping out

Pros: Worked right out of the box, easy install/setup. initial driver disc was easy to use.

Cons: Have had this thing less than a year, and am now having some serious troubles. random crashes, BSOD, lock-ups.

i have replaced the graphics card, ram etc and am now looking to test the power supply. but from what i'm experiencing and what a few more experienced builders have said, combined with a few of the reviews here, it seems i will have to swap out my mobo which i'm really not looking forward to doing.

5 out of 5 eggsNice MB for an old 2600K

Pros: I used this MB for a Linux Mint build. My wife and I want to try and start learning Linux and VMs. I had enough parts to get up another secondary build dedicated to Linux. I have an i7-2600K overclocked to 4.2 Ghz and it is running smoothly. The interface is easy to navigate and I highly recommend it.

Cons: No cons except I am still waiting to hear about the rebate. I purchased this board and another one to get a backup system up and have not heard anything on either one. I just hate it when companies do not honor their rebates, but it could just take a while for ASUS rebates to process.

Other Thoughts: Build:
Case: NZXT Phantom
MB: ASUS P8Z77
PSU: 1000 Watt Kingwin Bronze
Video Card: AMD Gigabyte 6970
CPU: Intel i7 2600K
RAM: G.Skill Ares 32GB DDR3 1866
Optical Drive: LG Blu Ray Drive
Primary HDD: OCZ Vertex 4
Secondary HDD: Seagate 2TB 7200 RPM
