Great for HTPC or an ultra compact PC, the ASUS P8H77-I motherboard delivers the best-in-class technology and features as well as proven ASUS quality in a Mini ITX form factor. Based on the Intel H77 Express chipset and equipped with 2x DDR3 memory slots and a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, this motherboard guarantees uncompromised flexibility and expandability for mainstream Intel 3rd Gen. Core platform, along with HDMI and S/PDIF optical output for premium audio/video quality. This motherboard is also Windows 8 ready and enables amazingly fast boot-up with hardware and software optimization.

  • newegg Optimized for Windows 8 ASUS has released new hardware and software designs to shorten system boot-up time to 2-seconds (for reference only) for a smoother user experience that removes annoying delays under Windows 8, and even previous versions of Windows. Faster system boot and restart means Windows starts quicker and more efficiently - no more waiting around. Thanks to ASUS Windows 8 hardware optimization, ASUS Boot Setting provides better flexibility in customizing your PC's start-up process. You can enter the BIOS directly with one click through a user-friendly interface, and quickly select your preferred system boot up method: either get to the OS in seconds or opt for regular boot up. Whatever your choice, settings are saved and persistent, with no need to choose every time you power on.
  • newegg Intel Smart Response Technology Intel Smart Response Technology boosts overall system performance. It uses an installed fast SSD (min 18.6GB available capacity required) as a cache for frequently accessed data. Key benefits include reduced load and wait times, and lower power consumption through the elimination of unnecessary hard drive spin. This technology combines SSD performance with hard drive capacity, operating up to six times faster than a hard drive-only system.
  • newegg Network iControl With a single-click on/off button, the application currently in use has its data and network bandwidth prioritized over other programs. Moreover, you can prioritize your favorite software easily by configuring profiles through the intuitive user interface. Within the profile, programs can be pre-scheduled to run in a specific time period to avoid network congestion and long-waits on downloads. Auto PPPoE network connection provides a one-step setup for enhanced online convenience. Overall, it's an intuitive network bandwidth control center.
  • newegg GPU Boost GPU Boost accelerates the integrated GPU for extreme graphics performance. The user-friendly interface facilitates flexible frequency adjustments. It easily delivers stable system-level upgrades for every use.
  • newegg USB 3.0 Boost ASUS USB 3.0 Boost technology supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), the latest USB 3.0 standard. With USB 3.0 Boost technology, a USB device's transmission speed is significantly increased up to 170%, adding to an already impressive fast USB 3.0 transfer speed. ASUS software automatically accelerates data speeds for compatible USB 3.0 peripherals without the need for any user interaction.
  • newegg Fan Xpert ASUS Fan Xpert intelligently allows you to adjust the CPU and chassis fan speeds according to different ambient temperatures caused by climate conditions in varying geographic regions and according to your PC’s loading. The built-in variety of useful profiles offer flexible controls of fan speed to achieve a quiet and cool environment.

3 out of 5 eggsOk mobo; bad software

Pros: 6 SATA connectors; rare for this size
Great mem compatibility
been up & running for 6 months non stop with no issues

Cons: Asus upgrade utility crashes.

Cannot configure case fans below 40% using bios or asus's fan xpert software. If it wasn't for this limitation I'd have a super silent/low consumption build

only 1 case fan connector on mobo (had to use splitter)

4 out of 5 eggsno problems at 1 yr

Pros: Reliable board was all I needed. Lots of connection in small form factor.

Cons: I had trouble with the fan starting on wake-up and played with settings. Seemed to go away by itself.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Nice compact board with the extra USB pins for your case.

Cons: Arrived DOA. I called Asus and they stated that if the board would not start out of the case, grounding issue, then it was not functional. Of course it would not run and sent back. Now Newegg is out of stock. Requested refund and bought new board locally. Also no WiFi. Not a big deal but would have been nice.

Other Thoughts: Asus support was great. Called right when they opened for phone support and they were very helpful. Unfortunately the board was not so helpful.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings LRN,

I am sorry you had issues with the motherboard. I am glad, however, you were able to get a working motherboard. Should you have any issues with the new unit, please let me know through email, and I will be happy to help. Your reference number for this case is 3111291.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board with tons of features

Pros: this board is incredibly versatile and i have had it over a year without any problems whatsoever. i use this machine to rip through video like it's bubble gum.

Cons: none. but i'm cool with 2 sata III ports and 2 sata II ports. if you need more than that there is a newer asus board with 6 sata III ports.

Other Thoughts: build:
ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe LGA 1155 Intel Z77
Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 SDRAM
Intel Core i7-3770K Graphics 4000
2 x Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SATA III SSD (raid 0)
SeaSonic Platinum Series 400W ATX12V (fanless)

5 out of 5 eggsGood 'ol Asus

Pros: - Small
- 6 Sata ports onboard
- Ridiculous amount of USB Ports for mini-ITX
- basically a p8z77 without Bus or CPU overclocking

Cons: - Lacking on-board wireless adapter
- nothing much else I could complain about thus far

Other Thoughts: I really can't say anything bad about this mobo aside from the lack of an on-board wireless Adapter. I would definitely say its overkill for a low-end home theater PC, or for a general use computer.

But, for a small form factor gaming PC, or for a portable server It works well. I personally bought a Coolermaster Elite case and this board, and miniaturized my gaming rig into a nice portable monster.

Also, when I consider that Asus uses the same quality of parts for all their mobo's across the board (whoops, bad pun), I wouldn't hesitate recommending it at this point in time.

5 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: lots of options for the money

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Just got my order today for the Motherboard, RAM, Processer. Got it put together without HDD or optical drive and the mother board posted so all good so far. Was kina scared with some of the reviews. But decided to take a chance. I have owned mainly Intel and Asus motherboards with little to no issues to date. Will update if anything new/bad happins.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware warranty evasion

Pros: Better-than-average UEFI implementation; stable board once booted; socketed EEPROM; good mix of features

Cons: Manual is incomplete in describing Secure Boot features. Occasionally fails when booting Linux via an EFI stub loader. After a little more than a year, the board failed to boot (probably because of a failed firmware update). ASUS offers a 3-year warranty, but they refused service because my board doesn't have a valid serial number sticker on it. I don't know if it was never there or fell off somewhere along the line. So beware: Be sure you've got your serial number (cut it off the box and keep it with the manual, if necessary)!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry you are having issues with the motherboard. There should be several spots on your board that have the serial number present. Please look at this guide on our support website to find the serial number sticker:

http://www.service.asus.com/notice/backend/statusupdate.aspx?credentials=default&bypass=true%22http://www.service.asus.com/notice/backend/statusupdate.aspx?credentials=default&bypass=true#!Motherboard Serial/cqt6

Regarding the motherboard itself and the booting issue, did you troubleshoot the other parts in your system? If you have not done so already, I would suggest checking each component in your case to make sure nothing else is faulty. Another question: Can you still get into the BIOS? Please send the requesting information to my email, and I will be able to look into this further. Your reference number is 2928131.

Regards,

Mark

4 out of 5 eggsEdit to previous - Good product / bad service

Pros: See "Other thoughts".

Cons: See "Other thoughts".

Other Thoughts: After (but not necessarily related to) my previous post, a number of helpful folks from both NewEgg and ASUS emailed me and we got things straightened out. The refund is pending, but I'm sure it'll go through.

So, felt like I should report that here after my previous post.

3 out of 5 eggsNice board - terrible support.

Pros: Nice board, nice form factor. I'm happy with the product ATM (after the replacement of the first one which was DOA).

Cons: New Egg and ASUS customer service.

Other Thoughts: The product you buy is a combination of the HW and the customer service that backs it up.

The net is that I returned the old part in the replacement box. Thinking I was smart in not even removing the other packaging, cables, manuals, and etc. Took the new MB out and put the DOA MB in and sent it back. No refund for me!

First - New Egg is not crystal clear in their RMA instructions that not only does it have to be an "original" retail box for that product (which mine was), but the SERIAL numbers ON THE BOX need to match! No mention of that that I can see.

2. New Egg said that I had to get authorization from ASUS.

3. After an hour on hold, getting cut off, and talking to ASUS, I got nothing. They won't even give you a direct phone number for customer support (per John in Indiana).

So, at the moment I'm out $$$ for the board and $$ for return shipping.

Nice product, but a bad and expensive shopping experience for me.
