4 out of 5 eggsGreat for systems that uses SSD.

Pros: The 32GB SSD add-on card was a nice touch, as well as the SSD caching. Also there is a turbo boost option for USB 3.0 devices, so yes, good for external hard drives.

Cons: Not a fan of having to update the BIOS (Murphey's Law) in order to get my RAM to run at stock speed. The RAM I use is 2400 Mhz, and yes, I've set it at 1800, 2000, 2200, with only the lesser value being half-way stable (anything higher and the system would blue screen in about ten minutes). Thankfully nothing went wrong with the update, the system runs normal, and my RAM is running at full speed. So, as for personal recomendations, keep the RAM at the default 1333 until you update the BIOS.

As for wiring things up, the only problem I had was the very bottom card, since the audio and USB cords blocked installation of the graphics card. So, if your going to use this board, kiss two USB ports good-bye if you got a four card set-up, as well as the audio for the front lead-in on your computer case. As a result for this overlook in quality assement I am deducting a single egg to reflect this.

Also, a minor complaint, but there is no auto-update program for the drivers of the board (although there is one for the BIOS), which means you have to check the site every now and then to get the latest drivers. Also this is my first motherboard I own by ASUS that doesn't have a firewire port built in, but since I don't use that, and since they told you as much in the product description, who cares?

Other Thoughts: If your going to use three cards or more, then yes, get this system, and you won't regret it.

4 out of 5 eggsAll the Features

Pros: Too many to write. SSD Caching, 10 SATA ports, built in Wi-Fi & Bluetooth. Easy one button overclock.

Cons: Difficult to install all the latest drivers. Required to download about 2 GB of drivers then install each individually. The ASUS AI Suite has never fully worked for me including the coolest feature of it, Wi-Fi Go.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to install the Wi-Fi card before installing motherboard. Ensure that you use the correct SATA cables also, it includes both SATA II and III.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MOBO!

Pros: This is the best motherboad on market right now. I love the Z77 chipset with the ASUS BIOS and support software. Full control of the PWM fans via app in Win8 is great. In my COSMOS II; all 12 fans are under control of PWM in Windows 8 (using PWM splitter cables). The BIOS provides full access to the settings via mouse. The micro SSD is great step.

Cons: Thunderbolt of little use and expensive to implement.

1 out of 5 eggsThe board came defective

Pros: It's a great board if it works properly.

Cons: There are so many features on this board that it increases the risk of something going wrong.

Other Thoughts: The board came to me defective. The Bluetooth device malfunctioned and the power management chip was not working properly as well. I paid money to ship it back to New Egg only to receive an email stating that the board as physical damage on it and that they will not send me a new one but rather, send me the useless broken one back. I am ashamed at this company. I order MANY computer parts from them only for them to treat me like this. I will not be giving this company any more of my money.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorrry to hear the issues you had with this motherboard. Can you tel me how Bluetooth module malfunctioned? Is the Bluetooth controller is Enabled in UEFI > Advanced > Onboard Devices Configuration, listed in Device Manager, and have drivers installed? Since Bluetooth and Wifi are on the same module, does Wifi function? The EPU function can be controlled in UEFI > AI Tweaker with available settings Auto, Light, Medium, or Max Power Saving Mode, and via AI Suite II software in Windows. Since the motherboard was returned by retailer citing damage, we may be able to repair it. Please contact us at 1-812-282-2787 at your earliest convenience or email me at (reference #C1037-6898).

5 out of 5 eggsEverything including the kitchen sink.

Pros: USB 3.0 ports and Thunderbolt. Thirty-two gigabyte SSD is a nice touch. Four-way SLI and CrossFire for graphics makes this board nearly future-proof.

Cons: Asus has outdone themselves with the P8Z77-V Premium. It features everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, that an enthusiast could want. It's also very stable when running Windows 8 Pro and the included software is useful (for the latest versions check Asus's web site).

The only real con is the price. Four hundred and fifty dollars is a steep price to pay for this motherboard but if you want the best then look no further.

Other Thoughts: I didn't purchase this board from Newegg (they were sold out at the time).

1 out of 5 eggsBad Sound and Snowballing issues

Pros: Great speeds with the 2 SSD's in a raid and all 3 video cards work in SLI if I wanted.

Cons: Sound doesn't work other than producing static. Sent the board back to Newegg to get replaced and the board was damaged in shipment. Newegg's only response was to send the board back to me and say deal with Asus. The shipping company won't insure the motherboard even though I sent it back to Newegg insured. Asus hasn't responded to my RMA request in over a week.

Other Thoughts: Why do we waste over $400 for a motherboard only to get service like this on a defective product?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize that the motherboard had an issue with sound output.

We can only repair or replace units. Our warranty does not cover damage caused during shipping from business such as Newegg to customer. Please visit here for more information on our warranty and what is included and not included:!Motherboard%20Warranty/c1c20. In some cases, we can repair the unit depending on the extent of damage. 1 out of 5 eggsStay AWAY from it

Pros: Could not find...

Cons: I bought on Jun/2012 and after 2 weeks my Bluetooth adapter went bad. I contacted Newegg and the motherboard was replaced. After 3 weeks my Bluetooth adapter went bad again. I called Asus support and I was told that they do not have the MB in stock, and even if I wanted to replace I would receive a refurbished MB! After many calls and big fights with ASUS they said that as a courtesy to their customers I could ship my MB and after 2 weeks I would receive it back or a refurbished one. How can a factory does not have a motherboard in stock if I can find it in any store?? Asus does not give a good support and does not care about their customers after a purchase is made! Be careful which brand you buy!! I have a $449 brick!! in my opinion this MB does not worth it and does not work with all the features after two weeks. I had the same problems with 2 MB.
Ps. Asus, does not contact me if you are not going to fix my problem once it for all.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

Can you tell me more about how Bluetoth failed? Were there any changes to software or hardware prior to it failing.

Please try the following:

Can you make sure that the Bluetooth Wi-fi combo card is seated properly? Are the drivers installed? It is recommended to install drivers first then install the Asus Wi-fi Go software. Please also check the Bluetooth indicator lights. It should be blue when linked and blinking when there's activiity. Lastly, go to UEFI and make sure that the Bluetooth controller is Enabled. To continue support or if you have a RMA # or case # and would like me to look into it, please contact me at reference #C1037-4021.

5 out of 5 eggsProbably the best motherboard

Pros: This board does everything you could ever want! The video doesn't go into detail on everything it will do. It is made for the latest technology of everything: Ivy Bridge CPU, the fastest memory they make, SSD caching, Thunderbolt, USB 3.0, and dual PCIe x16! It can do it all, and it does it all very nicely. Easy to use too!

Cons: I had to sell a kidney to buy this board...but it was worth it!

1 out of 5 eggsNot Good

Pros: Looked good on paper -- that's why I give it at least one egg.

Cons: Worked for a couple of minutes then the Internal VGA went out. Called ASUS and reviewed the problem. They said the board was defective and to return it to Newegg. Returned it to Newegg who claimed the cpu socket had a bent pin and sent it back to me.

Other Thoughts: Don't know what to do with the motherboard. Will be afraid to buy from Newegg in the future.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

If there is strong evidence in proving that socket/pin damage occurred prior to you receiving the product, a case may be argued for. If there is no proof, unfortunately it will be considered "customer-induced damage" and is not covered under warranty. You may send the motherboard in for repair--we will replace the entire socket. However, there will be cost involved. If you would like to RMA for repair, please use the following form at: or call 1-812-282-2787.
