5 out of 5 eggsupdate of previous negative review

Pros: Asus quality build, reliability. I like their web site for updates, etc.

Cons: Box should include common errors in setup such as (or at least have tech support tell you when you call and board will not post); use USB 2 not USB 3 for wired keyboard and mouse. Use regular VGA output instead of digital or HDMI until you have it up and running with correct drivers etc. These above two tips, which I goggled, after hours with tech support and trying to RMA this board, as far as I know they still have none in stock since I have been trying to RMA for over 2 months.

Other Thoughts: Need more hands on experience and communication. All I was told did not help with the problem which was the two issues above, usb 2 port and needing to set up using regular VGA output. (see cons)

1 out of 5 eggsBad board, now discountinued

Pros: Reliability, not, another review said eventually it will fail, and now mine failed at one year. This overshadows any pro of this board. Discountinued

Cons: Horible service. An ex employee of their's subcontracted service company said they get paid for each phone call, thus many phone calls and still no result. After two weeks of no RMA issued I requested a replacement, still no email from them as they said was coming.

Other Thoughts: Junk, and I thought I paid for a premium board and manufacturer. I've owned at least 10 mother boards from Asus. Unacceptable service. I will file in small claims tomorrow as I think they plan on taking two months to service as they did on another Asus failured board this year.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsNot very solid

Pros: Good system performance for a Z77 1155 board, easy bios configuration.

Cons: Will not run 2X8gb Gskill in Dual Channel, lots of complaints about this on web, USB 3.0 a no-go in Windows 8.1 64bit, although solid in Windows 7 and 8.
At least daily lock-ups and graphic driver crashes.

Other Thoughts: Asus looks to have dropped continue support for this product, I'd look at a different board.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry you are having issues with the board. If I may, I would like to help. What parts are you using with the motherboard? Also are the system components up to date with the latest drivers etc.? Lastly, what version of the BIOS does the system have on it? Please send the requested information to my email at, and I will be happy to help. My email is

2 out of 5 eggspay full price for a used board!

Pros: the screw holes lined up on my case at least

Cons: Waited a while for this to go on sale saving me $30 before I purchased. After about a month of use it suddenly stopped working. Called Asus and after about 20 minutes of waiting finally got a hold of someone who after helping me troubleshoot to no avail processed an RMA. The return shipping is on the buyer so the $30 i had saved went out the window.

After two weeks of watching the RMA status it finally said it was shipping back with no other information on it. I called ASUS back to see if they had determined what had happened and and to give me further information into the fix and the service guy could only tell me there were a few faulty parts and the replacement parts would have taken to long to order and that they were simply sending me a refurbished board.

I am very unhappy at the fact that after paying full price on a motherboard I only used for about a month I am now stuck with someone else's previously broken board. Based on the reviews I am reading it seems that I need to keep my fingers crossed in the hopes that it is not DOA.

I should note that in building my computer I had assembled the parts over a several months to wait for savings and deals and the mobo was the first thing i purchased. By the time this occurred it was outside newegg's return date or else I would have returned it and gone with another brand.

After reading my review and the several others on this product, do yourself a favor and buy a different board. Or you can roll the dice and pay full price for a used board with a warranty.

Other Thoughts: I have owned many other asus products without issue however this experience will have me reconsidering future purchases.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you were having issues with your new board. The repair may have taken longer if we were going to repair those parts, so in return we have send you a replacement board. If you are having issues with the replacment board, please email me and I will see what I can do to keep you as an Asus customer.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but not perfect

Pros: Nice features such as thunderbolt, usb 3.0, serial port, TPM module (sold seperately), alot of fan headers, epu and tpu support, asus suite II allows you to adjust from within Windows OS most settings in the BIOS but not all, fan rpms can be calibrated too but only in Windows OS not BIOS.

Cons: The wifi module is not dual-band, just buy their newest generation instead the ASUS PCE-AC66. Beware of the Q-Connectors because they don't actually work and never have. The pins on them are to long and you end up usually pushing them to far and damaging your connections. I'm kinda mad ASUS hasn't fixed it yet after this many years but whatever!

Other Thoughts: The motherboard supports good drivers, they are listed below somewhere in another post. I don't like the wifi module honestly it should be a m-sata instead IMO. Also the TPU and EPU are relatively useless if you overclock. I have my 3770k @ 1.3 core voltage running at 4.8GHz so this board does overclock very well! That's with prime95 10min fft's and 12 hour testing (done more than once btw). Over-all this was worth the money IF IT LASTS which it had better!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Got it with a $30 rebate, and free 8Gb memory.
Worked out of the box.
UEFI Bios is awesome.
Plenty of connections for whatever you need.

Cons: My only complaint is that it just has one USB 3.0 internal header. Had to buy a pcie adapter to use both my case USB 3.0 and a 3.0 card reader.

Other Thoughts: Fractal Design Define R4
Asus P8Z77-v Pro/Thunderbolt
Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge
SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series 256GB SATA III

5 out of 5 eggsA lot of features!

Pros: This motherboard has a lot of features. A lot! Too many to really go over!

Cons: The built-in wi-fi is not dual-band, meaning it uses the same frequency that has been around for quite some time, meaning that when the router has a lot of things connected to it, the internet slows down for all.

Other Thoughts: If I had looked at things more closely, I would've bought the comparable asus motherboard 2 rungs down and with the money saved bought a nice dual band pci card.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: See below

Cons: See below

Other Thoughts: These are the drivers you need to install if you don't use the CD.

Asmedia ASM104x USB 3.0 Host Controller
Asmedia ASM106x SATA Host Controller
Intel Chipset Device Software
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Intel Management Engine Interface
Intel Network Connections
Intel Rapid Start Technology
Intel Rapid Storage Technology
Intel Smart Connect Technology
Lucidlogix Virtu MVP
Qualcomm Atheros AR9485
Realtek High Definition Audio

Use BIOS 1504 otherwise the settings will keep returning to default due to a major bug in 1616-1805, supposedly ASUS will release a fix soon.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat MB with a Caveat

Pros: High end product with quality components. Lots of extras that you won't find in other MB's just in case (such as serial port), Built in Wi-fi with cool features to run with apps on your mobile devices. Did not have any issues with overclocking. The USB Bios upgrade was a lifesaver.

Cons: The first of 6 MB I installed would not post. The red LED showing Boot device would pop up with no resolution. After many back and forth with Asus tech support they issued me a RMA, but I read on another review that this MB had issues with Ivy gen Intel i7 and that the bios has to be upgraded. The ability to upgrade the bios from a USB drive without even having to POST was a life savor. It resolved the issue and the MB went on and booted. For the other installs I did the bios upgrade before even installing the MB into the case. Taking one star off for that.

Other Thoughts: I had issue with one other MB where the recommended slot for a one memory configuration did not recognize the memory no matter what I tried. Many mem-ok buttons later, I just switched to another slot and things went ok. The rest of the 6 MB's had no issues at all.

5 out of 5 eggsgood board

Pros: No problems, updated bios, did not do clean install due to old Turbo Tax data and programs I did not want to loose. Installed newest drivers for this board, windows 7 from two M.boards back runs terrific, no conflicts. cloned old hd to ssd, changed mb and operating system win7 84 to achi, could not be happier.

Cons: careful inserting cpu, easy to bend pins.

Other Thoughts: Surprised as it seems only those unhappy post review, great board, confidence in Asus.
