2 out of 5 eggsStop Working after 3 month

Pros: Nice feature, nice sound, a lot of overclock tweak options

Cons: After 3 month stop working no Qcode code, two of fan connector stop working, no beep. I remove the motherboard, CPU, and re-install. But no post, no beep, no Qcode.

And Asus don't help much.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat board, do not purchase if you're interested in the wireless attachment

Pros: - Outstanding EUFI Bios
- Overclocking is easy and stable
- Neat red lighting on the board
- Never had any issues with Bios or compatability

Cons: - The bluetooth/wifi dongle did not work
- RMA board was returned without the attachment...

Other Thoughts: The wireless attachment did not work from the start in September 2012. The board would not post and if I waited to see if it would boot the attachment would begin to smoke. I let the attachment sit in the box for over half a year and tried it again in April of 2013. The same issue came about.
I called ASUS and scheduled and RMA. I included a written report of all the methods I had tested the board and attachment with (i.e. one memory stick, different clock memory, different PSU, barebones boot, etc).

I received a refurbished board in the mail in return but without the wireless attachment. The whole reason I sent in my board was for a new wireless part, not just a new board.

Since June of 2013 I have called ASUS four times, each time being reassured that I would be given email AND phone confirmation of a brand new wireless attachment being sent my way.
No such communication was ever received. ASUS has been my go to manufacturer for all things computer since I built my first in 2004 but had never had to return a part or call customer service until this motherboard. I am extremely disappointed in how this has been handled.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggs Love this MOBO

Pros: This board has all the stuff I need and I'm very happy with it, but it did scare me the first time I booted it up I thought that I got a DOA board but after 5 sec it booted right up and got the bios to take a look at it than but it back into its box, next part is water cooling the CPU next that's going to be the fun part, that all I need next is two of the EVGA superclocked GTX 780s than my gaming cumptuter is all ready!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: It's a very nice motherboard it mach my red and black them I'm going with my HAF X

1 out of 5 eggsOn the 3rd RMA

Pros: A lot if it worked correctly....

Cons: This will be my 3rd RMA for this board for the same problem. Bios will not detect SLI. and memory is listed as 8GB in POST when 12GB is installed. All PCIe slots work independently, both video cards Asus 670 Direct CUII work independently. Every memory stick works independently in each slot. Flashed BIOS to every version possible. Still the same problem...

Other Thoughts: I guess even Asus can not fix it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry you are having issues with the motherboard. If I may, I would like to help.

When setting up SLI, please make sure that the SLI Bridge is connected and that the configuration is enabled in Windows (Nvidia control panel). Once enabled, the SLI configuration should work. As long as the system meets the requirements for SLI (power setup etc.), there shouldn't be any issues with this configuration.

Regarding the memory issue, please ensure that the memory used is on the QVL. You can find out more information regarding this on our support site. Some basic troubleshooting steps to try for the memory: Test each memory DIMM slot to make sure it is not defective. Check to confirm the RAM is not faulty. Examine the DIMM slots to confirm that there is no damage.

Should you need further assistance with either the SLI configuration or with figuring out why the RAM is not working, please contact me through email, and I will be happy to help. Reference number is 2920143.

Kind regards,

Mark

5 out of 5 eggsThe best MB I've owned so far

Pros: - SATA 3
- The best onboard audio available
- unlimited OC capabilities
- plenty of USB headers
- LED error codes onboard
- Z77 Intel chipset
- offers hybrid cooling solution (air and/or water)
- the best supplied documentation for mainboards
- reeks of quality
- lots of goodies in the box

Cons: - not cheap, but these days, what is?
- no issues whatsoever, 3 weeks in

Other Thoughts: Booted on first power-on. Absolutely NO issues whatsoever in 3 weeks of nonstop use. 48 hours of burn-in after initial power up. Ridiculous data throughput, fantastic audio, quality materials and build quality. I have been using Asus boards for the past 10 years, and no regrets so far. They cost a little more, but IMHO, they're worth it. Great documentation, great build quality, quality through and through. I have been playing with this board for the past 2 weeks, and I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do. I don't game much anymore (kids, house, wife), but I do take my music seriously, which is one of the reasons why I bought this board. SupremeFX IV is the best on-board audio solution available at the moment. I am running SPDIF out to a Fiio D3 DAC to a Little Dot III tube headphone amp to Grado SR 125i headphones -- sounds almost as good as my $25,000 analog system - no joke. Previous build was based around a P5E w/SupremeFX III audio -- this blows it away. Running an Intel i5-3570K, EVGA GTX 650 Ti, GSkill Ripjaws X 16 GB DDR 3, 256 GB Samsung 840 SSD, Windows 7 Pro. Will post more as I get into it....

1 out of 5 eggsPCI-E BROKEN

Pros: Read the Specs?

Cons: * PCI-E slot one only runs x8 while the second and third slot do not work at all
* Bios updates, cmos reset do not fix it
* Tried 3 different video cards with no luck
* Tried a second CPU and no luck
* Every component connected to the board was tested in a different board without issue

Other Thoughts: * RMA'd the board and requested for them to send me a board with prepaid box to ship it back
* The agreed and told me to wait two days while they check there warehouse (Pretty sure there stock is entered into the computer?)
* 3 days later no email or call
* Contacted them again and the rep was unhelpful stating they didn't enter the RMA correctly and will need to repeat the process
* Asked for someone to call me and tell me why it was messed up and was told to leave feedback on a automated line (Pretty much do not want to deal with me)
* Poor customer support at the very best
* Will never buy from them again...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Telz,

I sincerely apologize for your experience with your Maximus V motherboard and with ASUS Support. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you. I can check on your RMA if you can provide me the RMA number or any other information that would help me identify your case. You can reach me at cl-jeremy@asus.com with any other questions, comments, or concerns you may have.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming mobo but check for defect

Pros: 1. Gaming oriented motherboard
2. Like the ROG light
3. More option on bios for overclocking
4. Liquid cooler ready
5. Great sound chip

Cons: I have been using this motherboard for almost a month decided to upgrade My ram to 32GB and notice that the 2 other dimm slots does not work. I am so grateful that it was the last day of the return period I notice it and quickly RMA it for replacement

Other Thoughts: I have read somewhere that it is known on this motherboard to have some of factory defect on the dimm slots. Just word of advice check all the dimm slots after you get yours make sure that every slots is working or else you will regret that you have to RMA your mobo on asus. We all know how horrible asus rma process is. On the brigther side it is an awesome board if everything is working .
