1 out of 5 eggsCame with bent pins

Pros: None that I could see.

Cons: Motherboard came with bent pins fresh out of the box. Told newegg, returned it, and they wouldn't replace it because it had bent pins (they assumed I did it and denied the return). Tried to have it replaced through ASUS but same experience. Right now I pretty much just bought a $250 paperweight. I'm used to Asus boards being rock solid and this certainly isn't the best choice. I have had way fewer problems on AMD chips/boards.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are being accused of the bent pins found.

I would definitely call Newegg back and demand to speak to a manager. I have heard other customers getting bent pins fresh out of the box and they return the unit right back to Newegg and they replaced the board for them. If you are already past the return policy with Newegg, then you will have to pay the fees to have the unit replaced with ASUS.

If you want to send the unit in for service, I can at least give you an estimate of how much it would be to replace the unit. Please provide me with your serial number.

You can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com

1 out of 5 eggsNo audio

Pros: No problem with Newegg

Cons: Just as someone else stated. I sent the board in for RMA. 14 days later, I get the board back with the same problem. This is the first ASUS board and the last ASUS board I will ever purchase. Their support is horrible.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you received your unit with the same issue. Please provide me with your RMA number and serial number so I can look into your case to see if we can get this resolved for you.

4 out of 5 eggssolid mobo

Pros: -asus quality
-looks great
-super simple bios flashing via USB
-great bios that allows straight forward tweaking and OCing
-least expensive of all of the trustworthy LGA 2011 mobos

Cons: -only two SATA III connections

Other Thoughts: this is my third ASUS mobo, and i have never had any problems. zero RMAs. zero meltdowns. zero blown capacitors, etc etc etc after 10 years.

i got an open-box board for a huge discount. thanks to all of the unintelligent people that buy mobos with the wrong socket type and have to ship them back to newegg LOL

5 out of 5 eggsGreat high-end Intel motherboard

Pros: Pretty much a loaded motherboard. Lovely UEFI BIOS, and a whopping 8 slots for RAM.

Cons: None really.

1 out of 5 eggsBad deal

Pros: love the bios.

Cons: I had a memory slot or slots fail so i RMA the board 14 days round trip i get the same board back saying that it was repaired it was as if they took the board out of the box and put it back in to another and sent it back with out even looking at it.I have been buying boards from asus since 99.They wanted 290.00 to be held on a credit card to send me a new board when they should have sent me a new board when they couldn't fix the junk they sent back.I from what i hear and read its getting to be the norm for asus RMA.

Other Thoughts: Nothing against Newegg.I think Newegg Rock's and always has in my book.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you had an issue with the RAM slots. If you are still under the return policy with newegg, I suggest you exchange it for another.

Regarding the 290.00 charge, that is because we gave you the option of sending it or to do a xship. We put a hold on the card just in case we don't receive the defective board back. It has happened in the past when customers don't return the defective board we use to do xship without getting some form of collateral. This lesson has ruined it for the rest of our customers.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me again at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

2 out of 5 eggsBuggy, but OK for a single GPU, single OS

Pros: Good bang for your buck as long as you don't need to get too fancy. This board would make for a good, if basic, gaming system.

The expansion room is OK. Good enough for a single video card and a couple of expansion cards.

Can hold a lot of memory, which is nice.

You can attach a serial port to it, which is very useful for me at least.

Cons: First board I got had a bad network adapter, but the replacement works.

Its support for dual booting is very poor. If "quick boot" is enabled, then the Grub2 bootloader usually can't even find anything other than the first hard drive.

To get it to boot Linux at all, I had to spend a lot of time fiddling with the BIOS compatibility settings.

If you put in two double-width video cards, then you block the one and only PCI slot. A double-width card won't fit in the third slot at all, so you need to find single-width cards if you want to use three GPU's. And most cards that you'd want to use two or three of are going to be double-width.

Other Thoughts: It doesn't have any features to set it apart from any other mid-range ATX board, and what it does have suffers from bugs and a poor layout. If the layout were better and the bugs were fixed, then it could have been a solid, if uninspired motherboard for a decent gaming system.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you were having issues with Linux. Unfortunately, we don't support Linus O/S.

Glad to hear that you did get the O/S working with some minor tweaks made.

Regarding the spacing, this is an entry level board that if you wanted a higher end model you can look at the Deluxe or Pro versions.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me again at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Product if everything worked

Pros: Price and options. BIOS is loaded with features and easy to use.

Cons: Onboard audio DOES NOT WORK!

Other Thoughts: Uninstalled/ reinstalled in device manger. Updated BIOS, tried drivers on Disc and on ASUS website. Tried both AC97 and HD connectors on front panel. Does not detect connection.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsNot happy with this one!

Pros: You get to return the item multiple times.

Cons: 1'st unit comes with bent pins. Pay return shipping to get 2nd board, and this one is defective, so now I have to ship it back twice and get something else. Bent pins are and issue with this board, they were in the box bent. I will never recommend another Asus product ever. I have built many pc's and have never had so much trouble with one. Will pick another board and hopefully not have this issue.

Other Thoughts: Now Asus is going to send me the song and dance about a return or RMA and how this and that is not covered. If your company is selling a product with pins, and you do not warranty this, than maybe you need to stop selling products with pins.
Instead of posting the song and dance on RMA and extra fees, how about Asus refund my payment, and all my shipping fees and they can keep this MB. This is not how business should be ran.

5 out of 5 eggsWell done

Pros: Has six SATA ports (internally). USB 3.0 connector (internally). Nice layout. BIOS caught me off guard as it was mouse compatible and interactive, took me a while to understand but i got it. I got to replace another Asus motherboard whos RAID controller when bad when i tried to convert to a RAID 5 with SSDs. Motherboard has SSD caching so if you cant afford to RAID SSDs or pay for a big one this might be a good solution.

Cons: Like i mentions in the pros the BIOS took a bit to adapt to but once you get it it moves to a pro for the board.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned I upgraded from another Asus motherboard. The cool thing was Asus doesn't change there systems too much and i didn't even have to rerun any cables form the previous motherboard layout. I have the wires running in the case int he back side. This was highly convenient for me.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed Motherboard

Pros: Good specs...

Cons: ...if it worked.

It doesn't.

Other Thoughts: I've built dozens of custom rigs for myself and friends. I know the ins and outs, and I went through a grand checklist of testing for this. I tripled checked compatibility with all other parts, and tried everything. Motherboard is just not working.

I'll have to RMA this. Which means I get to pay to ship it back to NewEgg and wait several weeks for my refund and lose money in the end from shipping costs. Yay.
