5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: The board does everything that I need it to do. I used it to build a machine to play some niche Japanese games, and it has a lot of options in the UEFI along with connectivity. While it isn't the most updated version, it had what I really needed as far as chipsets and processor sockets are concerned.

Cons: None for my use scenario, but the lack of HDMI and USB 3.0 could put people off for anything outside budget builds. Then again, they might look at newer boards to suit their needs.

Other Thoughts: If you need a board that it stable when left on for long periods of time, and under high heat conditions, this is the one for you. If you need something that has more updated interfaces and more options than you can shake a stick at, look elsewhere.

1 out of 5 eggsVery cheaply made

Pros: None

Cons: This is a very cheaply made board. It had two bent pins in the CPU socket. Also I looked down the edge of the board and it had a nice bend to it instead of being flat and straight. I'm sure they know that there are people like you and me that don't want to spend a lot of money, so we get suckered on these cheaply made boards. I will look at a different manufacturer the next time I purchase a motherboard.

Other Thoughts: ASUS, where is your quality control? How hard is it to check and make sure the pins are straight before it's shipped???

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about your experience with the motherboard. Our motherboards go through rigorous inspection before leaving the factory, and all come with a protective CPU socket cover to prevent accidental damage to the socket pins. We recommend sending the board in for RMA-repair. Unfortunately, this type of damage is not covered under warranty and a standard repair cost will apply. To proceed, please contact us again at 1-812-282-2787 or use the online RMA submittal form at: http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me below. Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Sound

Pros: Otherwise a good low-end board.

Cons: No Sound. Did not discover until I had already loaded a lot of programs. Now I have too much time involved. Probably will not RMA. I guess I'll go get a PCI sound card. So there goes any Newegg Deal I got on the motherboard. This is the first bad MB I've had from 20-30 boxes I've built over the past couple of years - I'm bummed out.

Other Thoughts: After I gave up trying to get the sound to work, I engaged ASUS support (Nick C.) via IM. We arepeated most what I already tried. He stayed on the chat for over an hour until I stopped the chat. So I give ASUS (Nick C. 5 stars for that). You don't see that often from support.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the experience you had with the motherboard--no onboard sound. Please RMA the motherboard to us using the online submittal form at: http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx or call us at 1-812-282-2787. Thank you for your support. 5 out of 5 eggsgreat workstation

Pros: Dual video outputs. use dual monitors without adding a video card.

Cons: dual video is DVI-D and VGA. I would like to see DVI-I and VGA.

Other Thoughts: I use these for building workstations in my network at work. 3 computers every month.

5 out of 5 eggsBudget Build Certified

Pros: I used this in a budget-build ($350 total after rebates) for a friend. It works great as a standard non-gaming desktop motherboard and the UEFI BIOS features allow me to do all the fine tuning I needed.

I recommend this for anyone on a budget with a need for basic computing.

Cons: None that I saw.

Other Thoughts: Used with a G630 Pentium Sandy-Bridge and 4gb of ADATA ram.

5 out of 5 eggsOverall an excelent motherboard

Pros: All solid capacitor design extends motherboard life. I've had my share of motherboards go bad because of blown capacitors. Supports PCI x16 3.0 (with supporting processors). No floppy or IDE connectors. Uses ASUS UEFI BIOS with first ever mouse-controlled graphical interface.

Cons: First and second SATA ports are blocked if using a 2 slot wide graphics card that extends past the edge of the motherboard such as the GTX 660. No SATA-III. No HDMI. Memory slots are very close to the CPU socket meaning large heatsinks may block first memory slot.

Other Thoughts: I was able to use 3 SATA ports by using a L-shape SATA connector in the second SATA port. The first still cannot be used even with a L-shaped SATA connector due to the location of the memory slots.

I am using an Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev.2 and Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3 with heat spreaders. Both the first memory stick and CPU heatsink touch. Not exactly a bad thing but still annoying. Things are very cramped

4 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: I've owned this board for two months now for my gaming build and everything works perfectly. There weren't any problems with installation other than something small. I would recommend this board to anybody who's not trying to build themselves a little supercomputer.

Cons: There are only two things that i didn't like about this board, the first being that it only has one PCIe 2.0 slot which isn't a problem unless you want to use SLI or Crossfire (which i didn't think about until after i finished my build). The only other problem that i had is when i build my computer i forgot to put the back plate on and when i went back to put it back on a few weeks later it took a while due to little metal prongs that seemed to be for holding it in place but i tried to put it on they only got in the way so i had to bend them or break them off but like i said, this barely counts as a problem.

5 out of 5 eggsNice ASUS Board

Pros: This is a very nice basic build motherboard. Paired with a i3 2105 processor and 16GB of ram and Windows 7 64 bit it sales along whether your in Itunes or watching video on the web and runs nice and cool. Newegg fast processing and fast shipping as usual.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsOut of the box, fantastic

Pros: Painless setup. Bios features are awesome & simple.

Cons: Could use another chassis fan connector.

Other Thoughts: I got this board for name recognition & price. Though it could be cheaper I do not feel like I overspent on my budget system. So far everything is functioning flawlessly. I couldn't be (much) happier.
