4 out of 5 eggsWindows 8 ready board only

Pros: Numerous USB 2.0 ports, more than you'll find on many other main boards, low cost, and the included ASUS software is very useful. The FM1 socket processor, for this board, is also inexpensive.

Cons: This board only works with Windows 8. Using any other operating system results in the network adapter (RJ-45 port) not functioning. The RJ-45 ethernet port only works with Windows 8. Also, I have trouble getting the BIOS screen to post during start-up, but I can live without it.

Other Thoughts: It's a good board. I don't really have any serious issues with it, since I'm running Windows 8. I'm going to take 1 egg off my rating due to the BIOS posting issue I mentioned.

5 out of 5 eggsvery nice board

Pros: well made and designed - 6 sata connecters, crossfire ready, one of the easier builds, has many options for overclocking.

Cons: none really

Other Thoughts: included software is a bit gimicky

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well with Win 8.1 Pro

Pros: I had been experiencing issues with the way another brand of board worked with my A8-3850. After trying everything imaginable, including reloading the entire operating system twice, I gave up and bought the Asus FM1A55-M LE R2.0. I loaded the system a third time, and everything worked perfectly, including AMD dual graphics with a Radeon 6670.
Everything is working perfectly. This is a very nice little board.

Cons: I've found no cons so far, except that the included disk had drivers for Win7 only. But almost all of t he drivers are already in Win 8.1, and revised software for 8.1 is available on the Asus website.

Other Thoughts: I had wanted an inexpensive small system to edit church services and to produce audio CDs for our choir. The little system will never be used for gaming, so I can't address the boards capabilities for that purpose, but it runs graphic editing software, video editing software, sound editors, and home theater absolutely perfectly. It also runs office applications (MS Office 2010 and Publisher) very well. I'm very pleased with this board. Asus has always worked perfectly for me (this is probably the 40th Asus I've built).

2 out of 5 eggsOnBoard Video was bad from the start

Pros: -Bios has lots of configurable options, especially tailored to those that want to overclock their CPU
-Lots of SATA slots, USB ports, fan ports

Cons: -Onboard video was bad from the start. I get intermittent displays which usually requires unplugging monitor/restarting computer or a combination of the two.

Other Thoughts: Had 2 PCI x16 slots for video cards but for a nongamer who doesn't need a dedicated video card, its really depressing. Will probably have to go buy one in order to get display working.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with the display. Here is a link below where you can update the drivers and bios to see if that will resolve your issue. Make sure you select the O/S you have installed.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: N/A

Cons: DOA. My computer couldn't boot. I had to buy a new CPU from newegg, and a new PSU at BB. It was eventually confirmed by the BB technicians that the mobo was dead.

Other Thoughts: waiting for a refund.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you received a board that was DOA. Did you try updating the bios and try clearing CMOS to see if that would resolve your issue.

Here is a link below of our support site. Make sure you select the O/S that you have installed.

2 out of 5 eggsMade me look bad

Pros: Its working

Cons: Its little things that makes you look bad to your customer. The onboard sound went bad in a week so I had to install a sound card and on the other board the NIC broke so I had to put another network card.

Other Thoughts: I used to have all my build with ASUS ,now I think its time to change, too many issues last year with my builds

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

5 out of 5 eggsLucid Virtu MVP is AWSOME !

Pros: Affordable FM1 board and the R 2.0 version has Lucid Logix Virtu MVP so the native graphics power of the APU can be used to boost FPS and overall gaming performance.

Virtu MVP works flawlessly with ANY NVIDIA or AMD dedicated card, I have tried mine with an AMD HD 5770 and an NVIDA GTX 660 and the software lives up to all its claims.

Using the HD 5770 I saw an in game FPS jump of nearly 70% depending on tile which means this technology lives up to manufactures claims. To prove it I ran the Metro 2033 frontline benchmark and at many differnt resolutions and settings the results were similar my FPS were increasing dramatically and at 1080P in DX11 I was getting the kind of FPS a single HD 5870 or HD 6950 would get. I would love to try it with a second HD 5770 in there as the technology is supposed to help remove the micro stuttering assocatied with Crossfire and SLI along with providing the boost in FPS.

With the GTX 660 in place the results were insane as the rig is performing like it's an Ivy Bridge I7 running a GTX 670. I am seeing an AVERAGE of nearly 50 FPS in the Metro 2033 with 1920x1080 DX11 Quality Very High, 4xMSAA, 16x AF, Physx disabled, Tesselation Enabled, DOF Disabled.

Cons: None that I can find for the money could have USB3 but hey

Other Thoughts: I think the section aboved about covers it this board is awsome for a Micro ATX gaming rig on a budget !

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I waited to get all my guts for this bad boy. This motherboard, on review from the one guy who reviewed it said it was great. He wasn't lying. I was going to go a 20 or so dollar cheaper route just to see horrible reviews on motherboards. I'm so happy I didn't. This board had no issues to install Windows 8 right from USB (the box says it needed an update-not true for me) and runs flawlessly. The only complaint I would have is the cd isn't compatible with 64bit architec. Which in the end, didn't matter, Windows found everything.

Cons: in the end. nothing.
