1 out of 5 eggsTerrible asus product

Pros: Lots of features

Cons: The board is a broken buggy mess. Hangs, freezes, hardware incompatibility, bios errors.

The board does have stand offs on the sides near the memory, this allows the board to flex heavily when installing components, poor engineering design.

Asus should recall these boards and offer a refund.

2 out of 5 eggsGood when it ran

Pros: Good layout, keeps everything easily accessible, awesome bios (when updated to 2501)

Cons: This board had random shutdowns starting the 3rd day I setup the system. I had load tested it with Prime95, ran memtest86, did everything I could to rule the mobo out. Processor (FX-4100 Zambezi) would hit 90* F and the system would crash. Thats not hot whatsoever for an amd processor and nowhere near the thermal limit.

The mobo is also not quite full atx size, so the 24pin socket is totally unsupported and I feel like the board is flexing too much when plugging in the psu. CMOS battery is under the GPU if you use a dual slot, but is somewhat offset by the cmos reset jumper located along the front panel connector.

Not truly a con, but visually the board is ugly. Brown pcb with blue all over the place as well as an obnoxiously bright green led that is always lit. I Don't have a side window in my old lian-li PC61, so this wasn't a true con for me.

Other Thoughts: When this board worked, it was awesome for a budget gaming board. I really am disappointed that it failed as it is a good board a budget crossfire gaming setup.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard, but it's an AMD

Pros: UEFI BIOS. Easy configuration, easy tuning. Typical ASUS quality construction. ASUS is my Go To Motherboard of choice.

Cons: Did not have 20 pin connector for front panel USB3 cable that came with my Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus Case. That Front Panel USB3 port is now non-functional until I find a card or adapter to take that connector. Only has one 4-pin ATX connector for CPU Power.

Other Thoughts: It's an AMD Motherboard.

Customer wanted AMD, but I'm finding AMD still has a ways to go. Even with the AMD FX-8320 8-core it is noticeably slower than my older 3770K i7, and that shows on the Passmark scores.

With the North-bridge over an inch from the CPU, vs on the CPU with Intel, the memory latency is about twice that of my Intel 3770K i7 machine on a P8Z77 motherboard. My ram is DDR3 1600, this build is DDR3 2133, yet the latency is around twice as much with the AMD architecture. My almost 3 year old desktop with 1600 memory beats the pants off the 2133 memory on the AMD board in the Passmark tests.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Well I really liked the looks and the design of the board. And the BIOS was pretty nice although, I did have some problems with it. nothing major though. It also would launch Windows right away. If it could get finished with launching it...

Cons: It wouldn't work. When I first booted it launch Windows, it got half way done loading and then Blue Screened. It said that there was (obviously) new hardware found and told me to start again. I started it again and went into BIOS and changed my boot order, as it put my optical drive before my HDD, then rebooted. Same problem. Then after the third time it wouldn't display any visual output. Everything would get power and turn on but no screen and my monitors would just shut off. Although, nothing in my computer would get passed the boot process. (I know this because of how loud my CPU and GPU fans get in each stage of startup)

But the biggest CON of all is just trying to get a hold of ASUS. IT IS PATHETIC. In the instruction manual, it gave me one number, didn't work. Looked on newegg and tried a DIFFERENT number which also didn't work. Looked online and found 4 more different phone numbers, all for the U.S. 2 of which didn't work.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this motherboard so that I could upgrade basically all my components and it was also my birthday gift. Which arrived in 1 day! That's awesome! I have been planning for a long time to upgrade my now slightly aging video card and processor. I am very disappointed that I was having these errors... I had really high expectations from ASUS, as many of my friends recommend their brand. I am having a replacement sent to me so I will be writing another review later when I finally get it. And just so ASUS knows, I still have my high expectations.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's a motherboard

Pros: It boots quickly and after sorting out a couple issues with the ram, I haven't seen a blue screen of death for 6 months now. Works great with Win8.1

Owned for almost a year.

Cons: I had a lot of errors with the RAM when I first put my build together. At first I thought it was because I was only running off of 4 gigs but I just help my friend build his PC with this MOBO and he is getting the same problems with 8 gigs. I believe it has to do with not filling up all the RAM slots so as long as they are filled (I upgraded to a full 8 gigs over 4 sticks) you shouldn't have a problem.

Can't overclock to save its life.

Other Thoughts: Owned for almost a year and no major issues.

1 out of 5 eggsNot buying another Asus

Pros: What pros?

Cons: No POST, but not exactly DOA either

Other Thoughts: In April, I bought an Asus M4A78L, with an AMD FX8350, and 8GB of G Skill Sniper Series RAM to update a box I built in 2009. It worked for a while, then the board started showing signs of Southbridge failure. Asus wants to send it in and repair it, however, I need this computer, so I just bought this board, (figuring the faster chipset would be something of an upgrade) and will send the original in. That would be fine and good if this one would at least POST. So now, I have to RMA this board, and I will never buy an Asus board again.

This board has been tested in every fashion imaginable, because I still have a hard time believing that the board is no good. I pulled everything from the case, and set it up on a test bed just to make sure the case wasn't shorting the board somewhere. Hit the power, you get fans, opticals spin up, and that's all she wrote. If you pull everything off, you get a no RAM beep signal, put it back, and you get nothing at all. With the video out, it should tell me that the video is missing. After some research, this board seems to have this issue somewhat regular.

So, I intend to RMA it, and go back with MSI, which is who I usually buy from when building a system.

4 out of 5 eggsLove Asus, The board is frustrating

Pros: * The Bios is excellent. I especially like having a desktop icon to take me straight to the BIOS.
* The Board with FX8350 Black Edition and SSD is fast.
* Once I stopped Overclocking the Board has been stable.
* Price vs features is very nice
* Easy to install

Cons: * I hate the LAN controller. I have taken the board out of power saving mode, turned off the LAN power down and went to devices in WIn 8 and still I lose my network connections when the computer goes to sleep.
* Auto select for memory choose 1333 Mhz eventhough memory is 1600. Tried to "overclock" and board became unstable (could not even run DVDfab)

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: So far its running good.

Cons: One broken USB. ASUS tech support takes 45 minutes to answer the phone. The tech support the first time was terrible, the person knew very little. The second person was pretty good. 2 hours on the phone to get a simple question answered.

Not a fan of the wiring diagram in the manuel.

5 out of 5 eggsSmooth and quick

Pros: Mated with AMD FX-6300 Vishara, 8 Mb memory and Samsung SSD in the Fractal mid-Tower R4 case. All went smoothly, parts fit well, and (once I found the one power plug I missed) booted up great. Runs fast - if using Win7 be prepared for 230+ updates.....

Cons: Has 2 USB 3.0 - case had room for 4 and a USB 3.0 cable for the motherboard that wouldn't fit. Had to buy a 3.0 to 2.0 adapter. Probably a lack of my tech knowledge.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't work =/

Pros: It looks cool and has a lot of features.

Cons: After checking and rechecking and troubleshooting, the board I received doesn't work. Everything else is installed properly.
