Pros: non DOA

Cons: After installing the board and hooking everything up found out the audio and Ethernet ports were bad and could not access my network or install the drivers.

Other Thoughts: Their web site is no help as well the only thing working on it is the order our products section, everything else gives you a message " We will be right back " this comes up no matter when you log in. Even the download and support section does not work same message. forget about the contact section same message and no one picks up the phone. I use to love ASUS motherboards, but after this go round not to happy with them. Returned the board to Newegg and got a Gigabyte MB to replace it so I know my build works fine after I installed the Gigabyte it came up just fine. I know a bad MB can happen, but you think they have something better than snailmail as a contact option.

Other Thoughts: I have no clue what happened when I did my build with this motherboard. I had everything done and it would power up but not post....absolutely nothing. I took everything all apart, applied new thermal paste, made sure all the connections were tight, reseated the cpu and since then it has worked perfect. The bios are great for a first time builder. Very modern looking and easy to navigate. The only thing I do not like is that it doesnt have USB 3.0 headers. I am not going to overclock as I am happy with my FX-8350 running at 4.3 ghz with the Asus performance setting on the bios, so dont know how well it overclocks. Overall a great solid budget motherboard.

Pros: Easy to install and very navigatable BIOS.
Cheap

Cons: Error using more than 4gb RAM

Other Thoughts: I've had nothing but problems with this motherboard when first bought. Everything was installed correctly and upon powering on would randomly shutdown/BSOD for a mydriad of reason pointing to the CPU, RAM, HDD, GPU, PSU. Upon troubleshooting and replacing parts I have found that it refuses to accept more than 4gb of RAM regardless of the slots I tried and different RAM sticks tried. Works okay when only using a maximum of 4gb RAM.

Is your CPU, memory, and power supply all in the qualified vendor list? Have you already reseated your CPU? Please make sure to inspect your motherboard to see if there is any damage at the trace level. Please note if the system is so unstable, it can only map DIMMs in single channel (lower perf than dual channel). That's fairly easily checked if you try Channel B only after a CMOS clear (DRAM ratio will be low, which is exactly what we want for debugging). If the board POSTs with memory (only) in channel B, you've got an instability issue - which can happen on this platform when memory is unstable. If you haven't already, please make sure to update your UEFI firmware to BIOS Version 2601 located on our ASUS online help desk: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/HelpDesk_Download/. 5 out of 5 eggsSolid motherboard for 1.5 years now - no problems

Pros: Has worked well for over 1.5 years now. I'm using the 4 ports SATA controller for a RAID 5 set of 1TB drives (3TB useable). It works great and the software tells me if a drive has failed. No problems whatsoever.

Cons: Even though it has 6 SATA ports, only 4 of them can be used in a RAID set. That was find for me, I used the UEFI ones for a SSD with the OS... but it would've been good to know. I had a 5th HDD that I wanted to add to the RAID set and couldn't, not even as a hot/cold spare.

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: This motherboard is causing marital problems. Every single reboot is a roll of the dice to see if it decides that the CPU just doesn't spin, this time. I have had the motherboard replaced by Asus, and I still have the same problem. I LOATHE this motherboard. Please do not buy this awful, awful thing.
