1 out of 5 eggshorrible service all around

Pros: Supposed to be a great board and might have an opinion on it if it would work.

Cons: Board came flashed bio only hooked up processor and power supply and got a red light upon trying to boot. Went through the rma process after 2.5 weeks got an email from newegg stating that the board was damaged and they will not cover it. The board could have left the factory damaged or been damaged in shipping. Definetly will not be ordering anymore componets through new egg. Good news asus says they will cover it but it will be a lengthy rma process once again. Meanwhile I have a lot of expensive parts sitting there and waiting for their warranty through new egg to expire so if one of them are bad I will be stuck with it because I cant test it before the return period expires.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Mobo

Pros: I've had this in my gaming rig for nearly 2 years now, and I've loved it! The spacious layout of the board makes it easy to work with -- I'm easily fitting my dual slot 10" video card and PCI-E wireless card with room to spare. The ASUS UEFI interface is easy to work with, the USB BIOS Flashback has proven very convenient to easily flash the BIOS, overclocking is simple, and I especially like the POST state LEDs. If POST fails, it makes it easy to identify what what wrong -- I was able to immediately figure out I was using the wrong DIMM slots when I initially set up my build.

And not to mention, this thing looks beautiful...

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended, ASUS rules.

4 out of 5 eggsMotherboard Faulty

Pros: The BIOS LED's, instead of using beeps this motherboard has LED lights near each main processing unit (RAM, Memory, VGA, CPU) very easy to determine where errors occur. Also, it supports 4 GPU's.
Mine had a short somewhere in it as I got two separate BIOS LED's for no reason. Either way it is easy to tell the workmanship is terrific, and Newegg is the best site to purchase any components.

Cons: Motherboard is faulty. It just so happens my motherboard is faulty. It works after enough tries, mostly gets stuck on BIOS LED's. It has stopped at RAM, to which I unplugged and plugged it back in again, and if I leave it on too long the CPU LED turns on and the only way to reset it is to completely remove power. The VGA was the most painful, as I tried multiple slots with multiple cards and sometimes they worked sometimes they didn't. Fortunately Newegg is great about returns, I am currently waiting on it to be shipped back.

Other Thoughts: It doesn't really matter what brand you buy, Newegg is the place to buy it.

4 out of 5 eggsWarranty Service is Poor

Pros: Great, sturdy board! Excellent performance for the price.
(FYI, I own the R1.0 board, but it is no longer available here to add reviews).

Cons: No cons on the hardware itself. Warranty service is poor thus far.

Other Thoughts: Warranty customer service is poor. I purchased the board in March 2012. In November 2014, the LAN port quit working -- they were quick to have me send the board via RMA for repairs. Once back, the PCIE slot didn't work, so I sent it back again via another RMA. Once back, the LAN port again does not work. So I sent it back for a 3rd RMA, and they decided to replace the board. The replacement has a PCIE slot that does not work, so I called within two days of receipt and they tell me the replacement board is out of warranty, they need to escalate my call and call me back to "advise" me.
I asked for a manager, but was turned down as they "only work the morning shift". I asked to speak to the tech services dept that would receive the escalated case. Was then placed on hold for a few minutes, then got the end-of-call survey and disconnected.
I have now been without my motherboard for 7 months. I am VERY unhappy with ASUS warranty service at this time.

4 out of 5 eggsBought 2 - One Perfect/ One Bad

Pros: Overall a sound, sturdy board with extra sata ports that you'll appreciate. The UEFI BIOS is nothing like I've ever worked with and is super easy. It practically does all the work for you. I built up one machine for my son and the build went with no glitches or hangups. It was a breeze really. The second board, I just had that feeling... no matter what i did I couldn't get it to fully boot up. It would hang up on the ASUS Sabertooth logo and go no further. I tried the CMOS, resetting the memory, pulled out the board 2x and reset. No good - decided to return it to Newegg asap for an exchange. Good thing I live in NJ and close to their distribution center. I'm hoping to pick up a replacement asap. I have faith in the board. I've read some reviews here about the board but still decided to buy 2. I believe they'll last as this is not the first ASUS board I've owned. I used to buy nothing but ABIT.. but as they are out of business, ASUS was the next best choice for me besides MSI. Would have been 5 eggs had both worked fine out of the box. Once I get the replacement, I could always write another review of that one - if that choice is enabled.

Cons: Only con thing I can think of is, if you're planning on using a add-on audio card that installs via the PCI Express card this board isn't for you. Your video card will block it and it's pretty much useless unless you drop your video card down to PCI Express 2.0 x 16 slot 3 (which is generally not recommended for performance if you're only using one video card). So, you have to consider the pros and cons when considering this board.

Other Thoughts: I was considering exchanging the one bad for another brand of board. There just isn't one out there for AMD that has the features this board has unless you go with the higher end ASUS Crosshair formula Z. That board is not for everyone.

1 out of 5 eggsCaught Fire! Almost burned down my apartment.

Pros: Looks pretty sweet, easy to set up, nice little buttons and lights to show different levels of functionality. Good marketing with the "military tough" thing, if only it were true.

Cons: This motherboard worked flawlessly for almost a year when suddenly one morning it burst into flames while under normal use. The fire initiated in one of the capacitors and caused a pretty serious little electrical fire. Fortunately I don't keep many papers around my computer or on top of my case and when the power was cut the fire died almost instantly. Not so military tough, and I would know since I've been in the Army for 8 years.

The real nightmare here was trying to deal with customer service. The first few interactions were incredibly difficult. I study foreign languages and am used to travelling abroad but dealing with the customer support personnel was a catastrophe at best. They could barely understand what I was saying and I could barely understand what they were saying. Finally after several frustrating calls I was able to get an RMA request and paid FedEx a hefty sum to super carefully wrap/package and ship the motherboard off to ASUS.

After not hearing anything for quite a while I decided to call and see what the deal was. I had to call three times because the customer support person hung up the first time and the second time they must have transferred me incorrectly. I finally got to someone who could help me out and they informed me that ASUS had flagged it several days before but failed to send out an email telling me. They apologized and said that it had been "external damage" and they could not do anything for me. They wanted to charge me the entire cost for a replacement, and they would be returning my motherboard in its current condition. (I did receive it but missing a couple parts, and in pieces)

Anyway, I just wanted to know from their repair/customer care people what the problem was. If this was an issue with the motherboard, if it was something else, if I needed to buy other parts such as RAM or CPU.... the only response I could ever get was "external damage, no repair" over and over. I sent requests for info in by their email ticket and several times over the phone. Finally, I got so frustrated that I just stopped and vowed never to buy another ASUS product again for me, my family, or my personal business. If I had any control over the Army's buying functions, and maybe I will, I'd advise against any unit purchasing a product from them as well.

Horrible experience that was dangerous to my personal property, handled unprofessionally, and left me weeks without a desktop computer (still dont have a working desktop). A real head ache. I recommend not buying any products from this manufacturer, especially this product which is especially not "military tough."

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: outstanding quality, extremely easy to work with.

Cons: USB 3.0 plug in is inline with the top pci slot, so any graphics card that's got a bit of length to it, you will not be able to use the first slot if you plan to use the usb 3.0 on the case itself.

Other Thoughts: the colors dont match many builds; so if plan to have a show piece and plan to use this board good luck finding colors to match.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great looking board. nice desigh. plenty of room between ram and cpu cooler.

Cons: Have not been able to get all 32GB of ram to post. Will post all indivuall sticks separately in any slot. Will post 16GB in any two slot combination of any two sticks. Insert all 4 sticks of ram and it comes up with 32GB showing but only 16GB available to use.

Other Thoughts: Should have paid more attention to reviews concerning ram.
