5 out of 5 eggsVery, Very, Good

Pros: Connectors for everything
Ease of setup
Awesome graphical BIOS that works with a USB mouse

Cons: No Firewire port - I don't need but be aware if you do

Other Thoughts: Weird RAM sockets (another reviewer claims his were broken but the catch is fixed at one side, it says so in the manual

Went together like a dream, everything recognized first time, OS installed quickly with no problems

My system:
Cooler Master HAF 932 Case
Corsair TX750M Modular PSU
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Motherboard
AMD FX4350 Vishera 4.2 GHz CPU
Sapphire 100364L Radeon R9 270X 2GB GPU
Corsair Vengeance 2x4 GB CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R PC1600 DDR3
Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB SSD
WD Black WD5003AZEX HDD
Samsung SH-224DB SATA DVD Burner
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS

UPDATE
After 3 years this board is still going strong, still for sale on NewEgg, and it still delivers awesome performance. The Corsair TX750M PSU died after about 4 months and I replaced it with a SeaSonic M12II 750 SS-750AM2 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Full-modular Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready which solved all my issues and has purred along ever since.
In Nov 2015, I upgraded to an SSD, I tried a Crucial MX200 first and had endless issues, I then switched that to a Samsung 850 EVO and it's been flying ever since. I had some lock up problems upgrading from Win 7 to 10 (same on my Dell laptop) and eventually used the method of creating fresh Win 10 install DVD from Win 10 that solved all issues for this and the same approach fixed my laptop. I also upgraded the RAM to 16 Gigs using another set of the same Corsair Vengeance RAM listed above

5 out of 5 eggsSturdy little beast of a MOBO, but only half of USB 3.0 slots work despite reading as ready in the BIOS

Pros: -Sexy military-esque design with functional heat sinks.
-mine wasn't DOA/faulty, so that means yours won't be either (jk)
-Sturdy AF
-Dat BIOS doe
-During heavy overclocking, it has a very flat temperature curve despite being attached to a molten rock of a CPU (AMD FX-9590 Vishera) and a notoriously hot GPU
-Absolutely every socket you need for a modern build with the exception of...

Cons: -Memory slots not DDR4 (pretty sure that didn't exist back when this MOBO was manufactured but I could be wrong)
-Some USB port troubles but meh, that's easily circumvented
-Some case component sockets are poorly labeled (proper placement can be researched)
-SATA cable management can be funny sometimes for the shorter ones, but longer SATAs could be perfect for cable management
-The power connectors can be annoying

Other Thoughts: I've had mine for 3 1/2 years and it's been through a complete rebuild spread over that amount of time. The fact it's still holding strong after putting some pretty questionable parts on it is pretty impressive. It is literally the last original item from the previous build. For all you people screaming DOA or faulty after a month, I'm not going to say you're wrong, I'm just going to stay maybe it's actually operator error. MOBOs are picky (especially AMD) and most PC builders out there are...under-informed and over-confident to put it nicely. 5 RMAs in a row?...probably mixing your MOBOs up with a Frisbee...just saying. I've never RMA'd anything after 8 years of INFORMED rig building. Or, you could just be unlucky, so please don't think I'm attacking anyone :D

5 out of 5 eggsRuns well, quiet, bios is easy to tinker with

Pros: I was having issues with my GPU overheating and it was easy to set up the BIOS to shut itself off whenever the temperature got dangerous. Other than that it's run quickly, was very easy to set it up in the case, and I've had no complaints. I'll defer to other users' reviews if you're looking into overclocking it optimally but as a more casual gamer it's run like a dream

Cons: None I've found in my time owning it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MB

Pros: only had it 2 weeks and everything is smooth and fast.one of the smartest boards out , easy install no issues at all. and the BEST feature (if you use it) MB does not let Live update6 do any updates unless it detects a problem including the VGA BIOS.

Cons: The only problem i have is with the CPUID (CPU-Z) program crashes my PC every time i have tried to open it. the book does not talk about it at all, can not tell where it is needed at all.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this MB for anyone,Very nice Gaming board.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat mobo with some exceptions ...

Pros: This is a very tough Mobo and on paper the specs look good. A potentially high quality Mobo for builders looking for first rate components.

Cons: I've had this Mobo for about a year now, it has performed flawlessly as I've added and removed many components but there is one very bad flaw. The USB 3.0 ports, all of them, have never worked properly. At first this caused me some confusion, I wasn't sure what exactly what was going on with my USB 3.0 devices, they would constantly disconnect and reconnect and I finally realized the USB 3.0 hardware on this Mobo is faulty. This is a factory build flaw. I can use the 3.0 ports for temporary jobs but they will disconnect and reconnect like mad randomly, for example, I was able to perform a full system image on a USB 3.0 external drive at full 3.0 speeds but only after it had disconnected and reconnected several times. It at last did complete the job through the 3.0 port but what a nightmare chore.
Other than that, this board is performing well.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this product to other builders, it seems to have some potential factory build flaws. I will be glad to get rid of it when I build my next system. I will avoid Asus components in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard, would recommend to anyone have a great foundation to build up on.

Pros: I am a die hard ASUS supported so my opinion is definitely biased. But I believe they are the most innovative on the market and work very well.

Cons: The only thing I didn't like, is finding out that a R 2.0 Version had come out not long after I had my R 1.1 Version running. That's my own fault though. But ASUS should have came out with an upgrade program where they pro-rate the R 1.1 to apply a credit for the R 2.0 board.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this board to anyone who wants to progressively upgrade their system components. And it supports up to 32 GB of RAM. That's just insane!!!

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: It looks cool.

Cons: Dead on arrival. this seems to be a common problem with this motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I tried this motherboard on multiple systems and it did not work on any of them. I am extremely disappointed in this product and in myself for wasting my money on said product.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid at all costs!

Pros: NONE!

Cons: EVerything! DOA! Nothing more to say. And after seeing there are dozens of people who had the same problem, I would not take my chances on this board. Go get something more reliable. This board should not be priced at what it is considering the high probability of it being DOA.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless, I've had 5 replacement boards, most die with in 3 months, the last one was DOA

Pros: When it works, it works great.

Cons: BUYER BEWARE!!!

This is my 5th replacement on this board, ASUS had me pay for the shipping for the first time, then continued to pay the shipping back with a shipping label via Fedex.

I asked for my money back, I was told that wasn't an option; I feel lied to and will never go back to ASUS for any product after this one.

Original post:

Trusted company, previous motherboard lasted a while, works fine when working properly

Cons:

After only having the motherboard with new CPU installed for less than two weeks, the motherboard would not power on. I checked the connections to make sure nothing had changed (no new changes), tried switching the power button off and on to make sure the power was indeed flowing to it (motherboard still wouldn't turn on), and finally I tried unplugging and replugging the power supply cable. After replugging the cable, I flipped the power button on, and a loud POP occurred as a capacitor blew on the motherboard. Now the motherboard will maybe maintain power for 5 seconds before powering itself back off. This is completely unacceptable that a brand new motherboard would have capacitor issues after only two weeks of use, or at all! I have NEVER had a capacitor blow on a motherboard. This issue would never happen with an MSI motherboard. I am severely disappointed that I am now unable to use my computer, and am now left to go through the replacement process to get it fixed.

Other Thoughts:

I am putting in a RMA request now to get the motherboard replaced, but I am sure ASUS will demand that I pay the return shipping, costing me further money for a product that should be working without issue.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for sharing your ASUS experience. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this process has caused. Is your motherboard able to POST? What are you hardware specifications? Please try Clear CMOS and see if the board will POST. If it will not, pull one memory module and place the other stick in the slot furthest from the CPU and see if that helps. I would recommend flashing to the latest UEFI build (1604) if you can get the board to POST for the most recent microcode for your CPU . Which part of the motherboard did you hear a pop coming from? Please make sure to have direct airflow inside your chassis with cold air intake in and hot air exhausting out to protect your hardware from overheating. Please make sure to contact me with any associated RMA number so we can work together to get this issue resolved. If you have any further technical questions or general inquiries, please contact me at cl-nestor@asus.com using N160386137 as reference to your case.
