1 out of 5 eggsBIOS wont work

Pros: Haven't seen any yet. Paperweight?

Cons: From the minute I actuated this Mobo I have not been able to get it to boot into the bios properly. Several unproductive tech calls to ASUS have only ended with the realization that it needs repair. Newegg has avoided my emails and ASUS has yet to provide me info for a return. I also think that they expect me to pay for return shipping. Huh?

Other Thoughts: 1 egg is actually too high. VERY disappointed in this Mobo, Newegg and ASUS.

3 out of 5 eggsMemory Issues

Pros: easy to install. Win7 32-bit loaded fine. But, read cons

Cons: I am not sure if I like the manual reset button next to the power connector. I accidently bumped it several times when I was messing around with the memory chips and it rebooted on me. But, I am having a problem getting the win 7 32-bit OS to recognize the entire 4 GB of memory. I have 2 2GB Gskill memory chips installed, the BIOS recognizes them but Win7 does not (only says 2.2 GB is usable) I don't believe the integrated memory takes up that much memory and am wondering if it needs a BIOS update. Sent an email to ASUS waiting for a response. If any ASUS rep reads this, would appreciate an answer. I have a case number and phone number to call tomorrow about this

1 out of 5 eggsDOA with poor implementations of features

Pros: Good Raid support and price

Cons: DOA, MEM OK! Featureset is entirely useless. I would never ever put that feature set on a motherboard.

No post, DOA and not a single bad IC I can see burned. Not impressed with the supported ram (listed in the manual) throwing MEM OK errors and not posting.

Will not buy again. Considering switching from ASUS boards as this is the first DOA ive had in 7 years

5 out of 5 eggssimple and easy

Pros: First time using ASUS, all previous builds w/BioStar, heard that asus has longevity. Easy to install, I read other comments before and followed some of the advice given... loaded XP, with SATA HD set as IDE, used the supplied Asus disc with all the drivers etc, then updated from ASUS website without a hitch, then upped to WIN8, absolutely no problems. Running smoothly and consistently, so far! The angled sata was not a problem for me, and I'm using this in a micor-sized case.

Cons: Trying hard, but can't think of one

Other Thoughts: bought 4x2gb GSkill, was worried as the particular batch I purchased was NOT on the approved list, but worked straight out of the box. Once again NEWEGG has the best prices around, and got my order in very good time

4 out of 5 eggsissue with sound over hdmi fixed

Pros: Nice board lots of video output options, overall good.

Cons: using the realtek drivers for the sound driver breaks sound over hdmi... less one star for this but its fixable :)

Other Thoughts: To get sound over HDMI remove the realtek driver and HD manager from your OS and reboot. At least with windows 7 it detected and installed the drivers for the sound controller, once this was done sound was working via HDMI... I'm not sure if this matters but I also had a HDMI video device plugged into the HDMI port when I removed the drivers and reinstalled them.

Good luck.

5 out of 5 eggsrock solid

Pros: - installed easily without a hiccup

- rock solid since it first booted up in October, running virtually 24/7 the whole time

- has features I was looking for: SATA 6GBS, USB 3.0 with socket on board to plug to plug my case's front 3.0 cable into. It's suprising how may boards have UBS 3 but no plug for that front cable.

Cons: I haven't seen many comments about the right angle SATA ports sockets until now, but you can add me to the list of those who don't care for them. Not a big deal but I'd much rather have them facing up.

Other Thoughts: Antec Sonata Proto
Antec 650W Green 80 Plus Bronze
AMD A10-5800K
8GB Corsair Vengenance 16009B
Samsung 128TB 840 Pro SSD
WD Velociraptor 500GB

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's Micro-ATX, which I wanted for my build, and it's pretty good at handling various aspects that are not power. It's got a pretty good amount of various ports and it performs general functions that are not "stability" with ease.

Cons: "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval."

This is a message you will be seeing a lot. And if it's not this one, it's a variant of it- the motherboard has extreme trouble handling power. It crashes approximately every hour if I'm doing just about anything. I've swapped power supplies, I've watched the heat, I've run extra fans on it, I've updated the BIOS and all drivers... Nothing. Nothing fixes it. It's just a terrible board from a company I used to respect.

Other Thoughts: I really, really wish this board was fixable. I'm not looking forward to finding another Micro-ATX board that supports everything this does, but unfortunately I can't trust this board to be at all reliable.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are receiving this issue.

Please try going to our support site and update to the latest bios version 6102. Make sure you select the OS you have currently installed.

Also if you are doing some overclocking, this may also result in this error appear. Looks like another customer was able to get the clocks stable by changing the following in the bios.

Raise PCH 1.1 v and 1.5v to PCH 1.1125v and 1.525v.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

Regards,

Jeffrey

4 out of 5 eggsWindows XP users, be aware.

Pros: Small, good, socket installation was straight forward, all things clearly labeled.

Cons: I don't know I would call this a con, but, I have a windows XP story to tell.

So, I kept getting a stop error when installing XP. I needed a 3rd party raid driver, which I could pull of the CD and put onto a floppy at boot with the software the mobo came with. Problem is, my floppy is IDE, and this board does not support that. One am in the morning, i wasn't going out to get one, so I tried solutions I got from the net (via my phone) and finally figured out a work around on my own by setting the sata devices to read as IDE in the hard drive sata port.

This solution was much MUCH less complicated then what I had read on Tom's Hardware, and should be remembered, should you run into the same problem.

Other Thoughts: If I had set BIOS correctly on the first setup, I would've breezed through installation. Also I am applaud at how certain experts recommendations where atrociously complicated and required at least the use of another pc.

Next thought, XP support ends in less than a year, so I doubt new products will be made with it in mind, if able to run on it at all.

1 out of 5 eggsUnable to load Video Drivers

Pros: It booted up!

Cons: Windows 8 x64 Wont load any video drivers from Asus site or AMD site with new A10 6800k. Updated to the latest BIOS and it still failed. Each time I try to install it gets to the display driver then just reboots. I installed the chipset drivers and the AMD AHCI driver no problem but will not load any video driver.

Do not buy this board!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues trying to load the video drivers. Did you try updating the video driver from the support disc? Here is a link below where you can get the latest updates. Make sure you update your bios to version 6102 and your VGA driver to V12.105.0.0

If you have any questions or comments you can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

4 out of 5 eggsNew dad, on a budget.

Pros: First time building my own PC. Went ASUS because everyone I talked to said they were the best, chose this board for the 4 RAM slot, planing to order 2 more in a bit. Everything worked the first time right out of the box, easy to use bios and manual, I am currently overclocking the A6 5400K. The system says it's running at 4.3Ghz, but I think it just defaults that as the max for the A10. Either way, its all running great.

Cons: On board audio was horrible, I never tried to fix the issue because I had a better headset now that is USB only.

Other Thoughts: If you're not worried about the audio, this is a good budget board if you still want quality. Lots of room for expantion, i'm tempted to try a crossfire setup on this board next. Who knows.
