5 out of 5 eggsDimensions

Pros: None yet.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Just a comment about rockfarmer's review. Need "at least a19" depth with no vertical ledges or other obstructions between the Sata 6 connectors and the 3.5" bays"?

The board is only 9.6" wide! You recommend almost 10 inch clearance to insert SATA cables!? My whole case is is (only) 19" deep! I don't have the board yet and browsing here only to educate myself about potential issues. But how much useful information can I get from the reviews here?

5 out of 5 eggsF2A85-V PRO HTPC

Pros: Fan Control, easy CPU overclock

Cons: Weird BIOS layout

Other Thoughts: Only had this running for 4 days, but so far so good. Bought it for a mid-range lounge based gaming PC and for a bullet-proof media center. Works great at as both, e.g. Torchlight II on full res, full details, never stutters. Auto overclocks to 4.3Ghz from one button press, 1866 memory requires a change to 'Ai overclock tuner' - set it to 'DOCP'. The best thing, for me, is the fan control. For a HTPC you want quiet, the only fan that runs when playing a movie is the CPU, this is much quieter than my PS3.

4 out of 5 eggsSimply a great motherboard!

Pros: This motherboard is nearly flawless. Easy install, great BIOS interface, and runs well. For my first build, I'm impressed!

Cons: ASUS AI Suite II caused several BSODs and it took me a while to realize that it was causing a problem. I recommend you don't bother with it.

I sometimes get an issue where I cannot shut my computer off and turn it back on unless I cut the power to the mobo after a shutdown and turn it back on.

Other Thoughts: It's an ASUS product. It offers a lot of easy functionality and you're getting exactly what you pay for. I love it!

1 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: Got online help with Asus. It was prompt, and helpful.

Cons: They said to swap it for another one.

Other Thoughts: Newegg issued an RMA, and I shipped it. Will report back on the next one.

1 out of 5 eggsOkay, what next.....????

Pros: Well marked. Installed in case with no difficulty.

Cons: When powered up, itt goes to the Initial bios screen where I can either hit DEL or F2, at which point nothing happens. Single beep tells me it is looking for a keyboard. Have tried a good variety of them that I have on hand, but it recognizes none of them.

Other Thoughts: On board button gets me to the same place. Rechecked everything, but maybe I'm missing something.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

What you can try to have the keyboard recognized is to insert in the USB 2.0 or connect your keyboard in the PS/2. I have also had this problem because I connected the mouse and the keyboard in the USB 3.0 which is the blue slots.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me again at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: High quality SLI board that's running at 73.4 F right now with a blistering A10-5700 65 watt pushing 80.6 F on a stock cooler and paste.........WEI @ 7.2/7.3/6.8/6.8/5.9

Cons: Pulls 2x the power of my night light @ idle.........LOL

Other Thoughts: A/F WD Black 500gig/64mb HD, A10 5700, 2x8 1600 Corsair, Win7-64, Antec 300 case. I'm sold on APUs now!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: Worked perfectly with an old cooler master case that was given to me as a gift, also supported my processor, fans, and parts right out of the box.

Cons: None at this point

Other Thoughts: I was surprised at how fast and easy it was to install, other than the additional CPU cooling fan i had to force onto the socket

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Fast, flexible, great bios. Lots of features. Am not an over-clocker but the menus looked good.

Cons: Make sure you have a case at least a19" depth with no vertical ledges or other obstructions between the Sata 6 connectors and the 3.5" bays. Most mid tower cases have some obstructions right near the forward edge of an ATX board. Otherwise you will have trouble installing Sata cables on the board edge connectors. I used a Corsair 300R and that had nearly 2" OF space there. There are a very few other mid tower cases that will work well.

Other Thoughts: Some complained about bloat-ware. The support disk has an option where you can choose to install only drivers. Just look for it as it is well hidden.

Installed Windows 8 64 bit flawlessly.
