2 out of 5 eggsMOBO fail and then ASUS fail.

Pros: Standard install in a small case. Ran well for over 18 months paired with SSD and 8 g RAM.
Bought on Asus reputation for quality and stability. 3 year warranty.

Cons: Suddenly would intermittently not POST or load BIOS. Then would work again. Finally only black screen.
Went through troubleshooting with support. Cleared CMOS. Flashed sequentially to current BIOS.
No effect. Bad motherboard. Reversed my install, removed cables, CPU etc. and carefully prepared motherboard.
Got an RMA well within warranty period. Sent Priority Mail with tracking and fully padded with bubblewrap inside Asus mobo envelope.
The board looked unused in original condition. Mature user. No kids in household.

Received from Asus an invoice for a new motherboard at full price as a response.
Explanation: that the edge was damaged and therefore the board not reparable on the unit I sent them!

This was my third build with ASUS mobo's, I am writing this on such a computer now. There was absolutely no physical damage!
Since this is how Asus avoids warranty costs for quality problems, that was obviously the last ASUS product I will buy.

Other Thoughts: Can no longer recommend ASUS products. Tricks like this to avoid covering their warranties render them useless, and undermine the basis for their reputation.

4 out of 5 eggsMy new asus board

Pros: ASUS has been the only company I really trust for computer parts. I loved all the features that came with this board. I'm not a big techie, I can make a computer and it will run, but I'm not stupid. This board is awesome. I bought it with the intention of gaming, use it for work instead (figures). The fancy BIOS features helps out for when I need to run it hard for gaming or for work. Completely happy

Cons: When I first bought this board.. it wouldnt run. I had breadboxed it and laid it out on my wooden table everything set up- ready to go to test- and it failed. I cried. I screamed and threw a fit. I embarrassed my kids.
So I sent it back to newegg because the BIOS refused to update. Apparently something happened after so many were shipped out that they caught and mine was one of the first shipped out. I needed to have the update on the BIOS and I could only get it if A: I bought a totally new motherboard (no thanks) or B: I had to try and stay on customer service to get the BIOS updated through them though a usb drive in the mail (would of taken 4-6 weeks- No way) C: I had bought the warranty with it and they would replace it for me (thank goodness).

Other Thoughts: Cool features.. but with my current PC case it doesnt work well- so now I gotta get a new case. No problem- I love buying new things for my PC.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard!

Pros: 7 SATA III's
Support for 2400 RAM
VERY reliable
6 USBs, including 4 3.0s
mATX
Reputable brand

Cons: none that I can think of

Other Thoughts: For mATX, this board can't be beat. I have had this for about 2 years and I have never had ANY problems. It has been through an out-of-state move and nothing happened! It has seven SATA III connections, two PCI 16x slots, and support for 2400 RAM! The UEFI is easy to use, but still has all the features you want, including overclocking! I love this board.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I've had this motherboard for 2 yrs and have had no problems. It has all the features I wanted/needed. I really like this board. I have had the A10 5800 overclocked to 4.30 GHZ for over a year and the system has been stable.

Cons: None worth listing.

Other Thoughts: I would like to update to the A10 7850 but can't use this board. None of the other ASUS micro ATX motherborads have the features I want, such as 4 USB 3.0 ports , Display Port and eSATA port plus a 6 jack audio on the back panel. ASUS really needs to update this board to F+ capabilities. They could call it the Pro Plus. Are you listening ASUS?

4 out of 5 eggsfollow up to previous

Pros: Again, lots of features, lots of SATA ports

Cons: Like a guy below said, the SATA port orientation on the board leaves a little to be desired. They're stacked on top of each other in pairs. If you use locking connectors, and why wouldn't you, then the connector on the bottom will become unlocked when you install the connector on top.

Other Thoughts: I know it sounds bad, but I have been fairly satisfied with this motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsReally very good but one problem

Pros: Lots and Lots of features, reasonable price, ASUS brand

Cons: I tried to set up a 4 disk RAID 5 array, install Win7x64, and boot to this array. It worked for a day or two, but then the raid went critical and dropped a drive. I ran SeaTools on the drive and it showed bad. I swapped another drive in, and immediately upon trying to rebuild the array, it went critical again. Ran SeaTools and again the drive was bad. But it wasn't. It turns out that in RAID mode, the third SATA port craps out. It works fine in AHCI or IDE mode, but if you try to run a RAID that third port will fail every time. The drives test fine in other ports. I swapped out SATA cables, power cables, tried 4 different drives. It's the motherboard's 3rd SATA port. I tried again with a 4 disk RAID 10 and same thing - third port fails.

Other Thoughts: I ordered a cheap SYBA fakeRAID card and will try the 4 disk RAID 10 on it. I'd like to RMA and get a new/good board, but that'll put me down for a week or more.

1 out of 5 eggsCrash & Burn

Pros: I really like the number of SATA and USB ports on the mobo. My brother is not a gamer so a simple board should have done the job. I also like that this mobo has HDMI, Display Port, Optical audio output and PS/2 ports.

Cons: Maybe not "& Burn", but it defiantly crashes a lot. I purchased this mobo and other items from NewEgg as a BYO Christmas computer for my brother and his family in 2013. He did not tell me that it constantly crashes until recently. So I have had it for a few weeks trying to find out why it is crashing.

I think that I have it narrowed down to the memory channels. If I place the two memory cards in the A2/B2 configuration like the manual shows or the A1/B1 configuration, the system crashes constantly. It is more stable if I place the memory in A1/A2 configuration, the system is much more stable. But, the memory is not running in a dual channel mode. I have tried multiple memory cards in the mobo and get the same results.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased at least seven ASUS motherboards since the Athlon XP was released. This is the first one that has really disappointed me. I may just go buy another brand to replace this one.

3 out of 5 eggsBeware the SATA Ports

Pros: Feature-laden
DisplayPort
Sooooo many A/V ports

Cons: SATA port orientation
Did not come with Asus quick connector for case power button-to-motherboard wiring
Only 7000-series AMD graphics

Other Thoughts: 6 of the 7 SATA ports are oriented perpendicularly to the mobo which conflicted with one of the non-removable HDD cages built into my case.

Take note of the SATA ports on this mobo, what they will be adjacent to on your case- if you already have your case- and if there will be any conflict.

Also consider buying the Asus quick connector facilitate wiring the mobo to your case power button.

1 out of 5 eggsF2A85-M PRO FM2 hangs

Pros: HDMI and SPDIF out

Cons: USB ports die at Windows splash screen when trying to load Win7

Other Thoughts: Purchased this open box, mounted an AMD A6-6400K APU, 8gb (4x 2GB) Crucial DDR3 1333 MT/s CL9 Unbuffered UDIMM sticks in a Fractal Node 605 case and Fractal Bronze 500w power supply. Slimline BD will run the Win7 install DVD but as soon as the swirling dots appear at the splash screen, all the USB ports die.

I finally got Win7 to load by using the mouse via the single PS/2 connector, but I'm stuck again since I need both mouse and keyboard to finish initial config.

I've seen issues with Win7 hanging at install and hoped these symptoms would be resolved by downloading new drivers -- but I can't get that far.

Also, the driver DVDs that came with the motherboard don't seem to work -- they look to be executing some DOS commands but then end up at the A:/ prompt.

Has anybody else had these problems with this board or can offer any suggestions?
