5 out of 5 eggsGreat piece of hardware!

Pros: Small form factor, has built in wifi and blutooth with attachable antennae. USB 3.0 as well as SATA3 capabilities make this little mother board a monster. Have had no issues so far, enjoying my newer small rig!

Cons: No second GPU slot, but its m-ITX, you cant really find that at all with those.

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsamazing board with great features

Pros: Solid construction. No issues. Overclocks my i5 4670 with a click of a button at optimal speeds. Software is great. Bluetooth and wifi work great.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I think for Bluetooth i had to find drivers with some difficutly as the ones provided didnt work well. Need to find it through intel.com as it is an intel BT device. The ones provided didnt work.

The antennas includes are good with great range. I would have preferred antennas that directly attached to the mobo as these have a small cord which is fine also.

overall very satisfied. Great mobo that will last until next socket comes out.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat experience

Pros: Works!

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Bought this board while waiting for a RMA for my H77 gbyte itx board. Needed to be up and running quickly, Asus did not disappoint. Bios and drivers setup went smooth, and after a quick click on Activation, I had all my system and software running perfectly! Had a little bug with my RAID 0 settings for my C: drive, had to use Windows Boot Manager selection in BIOS after setting up Intel raid bios. Loaded the Asus software and did a quick O.C. to see how the board runs, no problems, but shifted back to stock speeds after the initial test. With i5 3750K, GTX 760, 16G of 2400 DDR3 and older Samsung 830 SDD's I get 7.8 for processor and 7.9 for the rest of Windows experience index. Plays my games and the intel wireless gets great reception in a tough spot (detached garage, 70ft from router).
I'm satisfied, and the Gbyte RMA will probably get sold as soon as I get it back.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board, Extremely fast wifi

Pros: Incredibly easy set up
Ultra fast wifi (i have the ookla test to prove it...)
onboard EVERYTHING....
seriously small form factor, great for custom cases, small cases and water cooling

i use corsairs h80i and its works seamlessly. controls pwm fans and communicates with corsair hx 650 in a way that keeps this rig literally silent.

onboard audio is fantastic. however, i cant get full 5.1 out of the digital toslink . the best audio i was able to set up was using the 5.1 theater setting via the 3.5 jacks (yes, you have to run 6 3.5 wires to your receiver), which is pushing me to buy the creative htx sound card. but it did saound amazing. i would prefer it to be off my toslink, but i reserved that for my headset. so everything works, its just all preference.

Cons: none. i deliberately chose a board with the options i needed, and not with anything extra to save money.

i never plan to go sli so this board really was an obvious choice for me.

i like the newer z board, but im happy with the 1155 socket for now.
plenty of usb interanl and out... in my opinion EXTRA fan ports on the mobo.... i run my two scythe fans for my radiator off of a splitter to the one header closest to the cpu... leaving one available.

Other Thoughts: TO ANYONE WHO HAS ISSUES WITH THE WFI: please make sure your using the correct antenna port, and don't use the antenna included. although they are nice magnetic antenna, they don't have the capability of seriously high end wifi... take any antenna of an old router and your golden. TODAY I hit 163mbs download and 30mbs upload using this board @ookla speedtest.

it's really upsetting to see people bash this board when its very clear they are not setting it up correctly.
if the board is laying down flat, the left most antenna port is for Bluetooth. and the right is for WiFi. the included antenna is perfect for the bluetooth channel.

also you should optimize your router by setting up dns settings in your router to optimize your signal.

if you dont know how to do this, please do not bash the board saying the wifi sucks, its likely YOU.

This board hasn't let me down and ive been seriously abusing it for 6 months. oc'd cpu, oc'd ram. extremely easy interface and bios. gpu tweak works great with bios.

this color scheme is awesome. its really really easy to match it and find parts (if you care) that go along with the scheme. bitspower has released high density wire sleeving that matches, and corsairs hx psu;s match and btw, so does the corsair blue dominator ram. and they didn't use random sky blues, its literally all the same color blue so its very aesthetically pleasing if you plan to install in a windowed case. def cannot say the same about the newer 1150 "z" board.

seriously, ENJOY THIS BOARD!

manufacturers rebate is a joke...... just a heads up // wait for it to be on sale, not mail in rebate.
i got it for $130.

1 out of 5 eggsWIFI WILL NOT WORK

Pros: I have spent/lost.wasted hours troubleshooting this wireless internet issue.

I called Asus support from work the first time and after 40 minutes on hold I was directed to download the drivers I had tried many times and then was told I would have to pay for non-refundable return shipping and finally was not able to completely create a support case because I did not have my serial number - I even offered to email it to the kid later--no go. Anyways, I call back later that night to try again, wait another 45 minutes, and then I WAS HUNG UP ON BY ASUS CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPPORT before communicating with anyone. I am salty and stuck witrh $1200 brick until I dissemble it, only to have to put it back together again.

The most annoying part is that the original OS installed was Ubuntu--which at the very first worked great until the internet stopped working and would not stay connected for more than a minute. So after a lot of troubleshooting and research I figured it was Ubuntu that was causing the issue. SO I spent 85 dollars on Windows 7 because Windows 8 sucked at the time. Now I have a perfectly working PC without internet connection (setup in basement and router is upstairs) and also a BRICK that I haven't used. NOW all my components are a few months old and I have yet to use them as intended. Weird part is no networks were ever found with Win7, but I was actually able to load a few webpages with Ubuntu

Cons: Wireless Internet faulty on mine

Other Thoughts: Asus has not been pleasant to work with so far

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your wifi on this board.

If you have already exhausted all options and tried updating drivers, uninstalling old drivers and installing new drivers, updating the bios, and connecting the antennas and still no wifi, then you will have to send the unit in for service.

One way to test to see if the wifi of the board is bad is to get an external wifi adapter to see if you are able to get wifi, if so then you have to send the board in for service.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me at cl-jeffrey@asus.com

3 out of 5 eggsVirtu MVP Video Rendering

Pros: Virtu MVP does what it says in that both the discreet graphics (GTX680) and the i3770k HD4000 can both be available. Tested using Pinnacle Studio 16 and the mfg sample video file. HD4000 renders in 28 seconds, GTX680 renders in 42 seconds. Video is 3 minutes.

Cons: Virtu MVP is difficult to setup properly and requires that you install Windows first without the discreet card installed. You must install the Asus Intel graphic drivers without the GTX installed. Then install the GTX and the Nvidia drivers.

Other Thoughts: Subject: Test effectiveness of Logix Virtu MVP with Pinnacle Studio 16

Test PC: Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe/WD (Bios Feb.2013), 16gb 2133ram, i3770k @ 4.2ghz HD4000, Samsung 840 Pro 500gb SSD, Nvidia GTX580 2gb GDDR5.

Process:
1. Delete previous Studio16 Project Scratch files,
2. Setup Virtu,
3. Start Studio16,
4. Load Sample Project,
5. Delete Render Files
6. Start Stopwatch
7. Start Create Burn Image
8. Stop Stopwatch and note time
9. Repeat from step 1

Scenario 1: Within the VirtuMVP control panel I created an entry “Studio 16” that pointed to NGSTUDIO.EXE, selected “I” for the internal Intel HD4000 rendering. Ran the sample project render and the time was close to 28 seconds.

Scenario 2: Same as 1, except selected “D” for the Discreet graphics card (Nvidia GTX680). Ran the sample project render and the time was close to 42 seconds.

Scenario 3: Within the VirtuMVP control panel, I deleted the Studio16 entries but left Virtu active. Ran the sample project render and the time was close to 28 seconds. Based on watching the heat and fan monitors, I could tell that even without a specific Studio entry, Virtu was sending the render work to the Intel HD4000, not the discrete graphics card.

Scenario 4: Same as 1 with “I” selected for the App “NGSTUDIO.EXE” but for this one I also created an App listing in Virtu for “BG render.exe”. Watching task master I had noted that when the render began, Studio passed control to BGrender (BackGroundRender). I thought this might show more effect. For BGRender I selected “I” for internal Intel HD4000. I killed the job when it went over 4 minutes! Same results when I pointed BGrender to “D” for discreet.

Summary: I didn’t bother to pull the GTX680 and try a run without Virtu but I’m fairly convinced it would be very close to the same 28 seconds Virtu provided (perhaps even a second or two faster). But, since I was using a manual stopwatch, my margin of press-the-button delay would mask any improvement.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for doing this test and providing your results on the review so other Asus customers can learn how to install Virtu MVP if they would like to utilize this function in the near future.

Jeffrey

3 out of 5 eggsWiDi works but...

Pros: Very stable and easy to setup

Cons: ..easy except for WiDi and Virtu. Finally got both to work. MOST CRITICAL is you must NOT install your discreet graphics card until after you install Windows. Install the Intel Graphics driver, the Intel Wireless driver, then the Intel WiDi driver. If you use the Asus files youll also be installing the MediaSDK. Test Widi to a widi tv or tv that has an adapter. You probably wont like the resolution, but it does work. After your done with WiDi, then shutdown and install the Graphics card. Leave the monitor on the MB dvi for now. Restart and install the Nvidia or AMD drivers. Then install Virtu. Reboot and wait a long time while Windows figures it out. When your back up in Windows you can move the dvi to the graphic card Do it while live. Start Nvidia control panel and it will see you moved the monitor. Thats most of it.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8 nontouch is really ok. Just remember winkey-D and Winkey-X
