4 out of 5 eggsGood budget motherboard

Pros: Worked with my AMD FX-8320 out of the box, supported G.SKILL Ripjaws (2 X 4GB). Upgrade went seamless - except the DVI and HDMI didn't work for a dual monitor solution on the motherboard. I had an older GPU that was easy to insert.

Cons: The onboard graphics didn't support dual-monitors.

Other Thoughts: Good budget board for a micro-ATX installation.

4 out of 5 eggsAsus M5A78L-M

Pros: It fit very snug into my case which is an old case but it was all installed very well and there were no problems installing it!

Cons: only small problem which is fixable is when you install the motherboard , and start up your PC at first it was a bit glitchy in the sense that it was an outdated motherboard but with the Cd that comes with it. after installing all the new software for it, runs like a jet :]

1 out of 5 eggsso my board is installed and i have no video

Pros: none yet

Cons: video not working

Other Thoughts: So I literally get this board in the mail with my new AMD-FX 4300 FD4300WMHKBOX processor and I have no video. Can't load an OS can't look at the bios. WHY IS THIS BROKEN ALREADY??? Very mad.

1 out of 5 eggsStay AWAY!! Unless you have no other option

Pros: I actually lit up the lights on my computer case and looked all pretty.

Cons: Cannot comment about all of my troubles with this cause it goes against the guidelines. Just, STAY away from this board. Defects and possibly compatibility issues. Do your research or you will get the shaft on this one. I wish I could post my experience, but then New egg will probably not accept my review and I want to warn you all. I am extremely dissatisfied and feel like I was short changed on this deal.

Other Thoughts: Did research on this board. Read of others that had the same issue as I have, ALMOST EXACTLY, and had to go with another motherboard altogether to fix the issue. Kind of expected better from parties involved. If my review does not scream, STAY AWAY! I have failed. Wish you all luck. I imagine more than one person here have had similar experiences with this board

2 out of 5 eggsWould give 3-4 star rating if it worked.

Pros: The mATX size is nice and will fit in pretty much any case with ample space. The onboard graphics are good; I was able to run 2 monitors from the board without problems before I installed my graphics card. The user manual that came with the board was fairly comprehensive, which was nice for a relatively inexperienced builder.

Cons: Despite USB3.0 being a selling point on this board, it didn't have USB3 headers for the front panel, and gave me BIOS errors when I had more than one USB2 header connected. The temperature monitors on the board didn't work, as they all gave me consistent readings well over 200 F. There was no IDE connection on this board, which is pretty standard nowadays, but still was mildly inconvenient for me trying to reuse an old DVD drive. The 20+4 pin PSU connector was very frustrating to work with, requiring a lot of force to connect and giving groaning noises throughout.

Other Thoughts: Got this to work with an AMD FX8320, Corsair CX750M, Crucial Ballistix Sport, & a Sapphire r9 270x. First one of these I got was DOA & wouldn't POST. Returned & replaced it with another one of the same board. Second one worked just fine for about 2 weeks then suddenly wouldn't boot or POST despite having an active LED. Ended up exchanging it for an MSI 970 G43 in hopes that that'll work better.

3 out of 5 eggsOne year later

Pros: One year later the video died. I had to rescue it with a video card. I thought ASUS would last longer. My wife uses this machine in an office environment 9 to 5. I expect more to break soon. It worked perfectly until this.

Cons: Video dying is a con

1 out of 5 eggswont keep a bios to save its life...

Pros: form factor is decent, everything fits good.

Cons: i would say DOA, but I managed to jerry rig a way to get it to boot, but being a temporary fix and has to be repeated every time, it's still broken. on mine I had to reset the clrtc jumper to get it to boot. it still decided to give me errors reading my video card half the time that it worked...

Other Thoughts: i always had great success with ASUS motherboards in the past, and before would only purchase them due to their long life and stability, as well as QC testing done to assure that the product you received was functional in all aspects, thankfully this was for a personal computer and not one for a customer. their deadlines are far more strict than my own. I will be questioning any future purchases of ASUS products from now on, whereas before I had unwavering confidence in them.

5 out of 5 eggsM5A78L-M/USB3

Pros: With shipped BIOS, I used this board to replace my M4A785M DDR2 motherboard without a hitch. I'll check for BIOS updates later. With DDR3 memory and the same processor, it's noticeably faster. Happy so far. Newegg shipped in an oversized box stuffed with inflated bags. Arrived in perfect condition. Newegg gets the fact that electronics is fragile and big shippers are not always careful.

Cons: Minor complaints: no packing slip which would have been useful for the rebate. Rebate instructions, which usually must be followed strictly or you get none, asked me to sign rebate form but there was no designated place to sign, no USPS mail address given and of 6 items, no instruction to mail the items in. Found the address in the Privacy agreement. Terms did not give address, tie agreement to receipt of materials.

Other Thoughts: As usual, not happy with timed login on newegg.
