2 out of 5 eggsGreat Features...Unreliable

Pros: USB 3.0 Support
4 DDR3 Memory Slots
Good ASUS Customer Service

Cons: This board worked for 6 months before it failed. I sent in to ASUS for repair and a month later it failed again.
This motherboard is unreliable

Other Thoughts: I basically lost about $65 for a motherboard and not a cheaply made one either. I'm very disappointed at ASUS for this and they are a good company though.

2 out of 5 eggsFalse statement about CPU wattage support and memory ECC support.

Pros: boot usb related device without problem,
GA-78LMT-USB3 is picky about this

Cons: 1.
it statement as it support CPU up to 140w, so I put a FX-8350 on it,
yes it do, somehow, bootable,
but if you put CPU under load, soon you will see it throttling,
this issue seems base on it have no heatsink over VRM mosfet,
which trigger it's overheat protection.

then I bought GA-78LMT-USB3 which have no such issue.

2.
it states about it have ECC support on memory,
I have to use ECC because I use ZFS,
which is also true, somehow,
while I explore around ECC option on BIOS,
it's kind confused because there is a User option,
but all you can do is Enabled/Disabled,
yea, ECC support

so I tried to contact ASUS support about this two issue,
then they took two day with a useless replay,

"
this board is design for general home usage, not for workstation and server,
it doesn't support ECC, we suggest you use non-ECC memory,
and also using Windows OS as well
"

really nice customer support, so I returned it.

2 out of 5 eggsWas perfect

Pros: Worked great along with EVGA GeForce GT 640 2GB 128-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 3.0, 4x 2gb Kingston memory, 1tb Seagate Barracuda hard drive, 700wat power supply and a quad core cpu. Was the perfect setup

Cons: had about six months then it crashed and said bios error so i slid in cd that came with and it redone the bios and worked great for a while longer till 2days ago then blacked out after another bios error now it is brain dead 3days and still not working.

Other Thoughts: Would like to have it replaced but seems like the wait through this site takes to long. I still have a pc that is 15 years old and might be slow but mother board still works and havn,t had as much problems with it as this new mother board.

4 out of 5 eggsJust what I needed

Pros: AM3+ compatability meant I could re-use my Phenom II X4 CPU.
DDR3 support & 4 RAM slots meant I could re-use my GSKILL RipJaw 16GB kit.
6 SATA connectors
onboard HDMI

Cons: Only SATA II
no USB 3.0 header/19 pin connector
only 2 fan connectors

Other Thoughts: Not docking an egg for the lack of SATA III or USB 3.0 header; this was my fault for not reading good enough. I am docking an egg for only having 2 fan connectors. Supports lots of RAM. Easy build; booted right up & has been stable for over 2 weeks. Basically made a nice replacement PC from this & spare parts from my dead HP Pavillion P6540f.

AMD Phenom II X4 CPU
16GB GSkill RAM kit @ PC3-10666
Toshiba 256 GB SSD for OS/applications
Seagate 500 GB HDD for storage
1TB 3.0 external drive for backups
Rosewill Galaxy-02 mid tower
Rosewill ARC 750W power supply
LG DVD DL drive

Future plans for PCI-E video card & Blu Ray drive/burner.

1 out of 5 eggsPile of cr*P

Pros: Looks nice, cheap and has 4 ram slots.

Cons: Does not POST at all. After buying this board to replace my hp default board which the sata controller on it died. This board was a complete waste .. bought it on the 16th and spent about 4 days trying to get it to post. Nothing at all there is no display at all, even with a gpu the mobo just causes fans to spin at max rpm and that is all. Highly disappointed I sent it back to newegg for a replacement but i'm angry about all the waiting. The wait time has been about half the month now in total. Just very sad i thought new egg was a great place to buy from.

Other Thoughts: Dont buy it it's cheap and looks like a good deal but 20 $ more can g a get you a better mobo which you wont have to rma.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fits my 16" tall case .Works with older Athlon 2 64 x3 . Apparently it automatically boots correct up to date software on first startup using my drive from the crashed computer it replaced.

Cons: Does not have ide connector.Software disk supplied does not work with win 8.1 . I downloaded software for this board and after extracted it shows the same model board I am using but with MSI logo.

Other Thoughts: I read many reviews before buying . Many of them state they will not buy this brand or that brand because of problems. Its obvious brand does not matter since the only difference is the labeling on the board .

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board, especially for the price

Pros: This has been a great board for my HTPC. My last Asus mATX board is 5 years old and still going strong, and it has a virtually identical layout to this one. I've never had any problems with either. The BIOS is easy to flash and update. I've been running an FX 6300 and Win 8.1 on it for 6 months, and it's worked perfectly.

Cons: The only thing I wish this board had was a USB 3.0 header. My case has front USB 3.0 ports, but I had to buy a PCI-E card to hook them up. Being limited to SATA II and PCI-E 2.0 will be a downer for some people, but it hasn't bothered me.

4 out of 5 eggsBudget home server board

Pros: Great budget home server board because it has 4 ram slots that can be used with ecc ram, has built in on board graphics (no need for dedicated card on server that will usually be used headless), header for parallel port (can use with legacy printers to act as print server), pci and pci-express slots (reuse existing raid cards regardless of interface type).

Cons: Not a lot of pci/pci-e slots because of matx form factor. Weak power system. Not many power phases, no heat sinks on the vrms, only 4 pin 12 V aux CPU power connector. Sustained high current to 125W+ or overclocked cpus is going to cause overheating problems associated with the vrms as detailed in the many other reviews listed for this board. These problems will be exacerbated if you use an after market cooler (e.g. hyper 212) that doesn't direct airflow down toward cpu and motherboard. Perpendicular airflow, as provided by the stock cooler, would assist with cooling vrms but parallel airflow will not assist with cooling them.

Other Thoughts: I would not suggest getting this board if you want it for overclocking a 125W CPU or for sustained high loads on 125W cpu (e.g. gaming). You are asking for problems given the weak power setup. See the other reviews that talk about overheating or exploding motherboard components as a preview of what can happen.

4 out of 5 eggsGood MOBO for a while

Pros: It worked really great, didn't have any problems with the hardware I bought when I built my machine, the USB 3.0 worked, had everything I needed.

Cons: Unfortunately, I just had the same problem a few others had, I was in the middle of playing a game, then the computer went down, told me something about a power surge which made no sense since there hadn't been one. Then I turned it off, blew the dust out of it cause I thought I smelled something strange, then I turned it back on, no display. Let it cool off for a while, turned it on again, everything whirrs but no display. I removed the gpu just in case it was the gpu going bad, no display. So far as I know it could be a PDU or mobo issue, and the PDU seems to be powering everything just fine, so I figure the mobo has a problem. RMAing it on ASUS since they have that three year limited warranty and hoping they will be willing to replace it or fix it or whatever cause I don't have the cash to buy another right now...
