4 out of 5 eggsPretty good budget board

Pros: solid budget board. way better than buying a shoddy asrock or whatever. runs great, nice uefi/bios interface, lots of OC options, all around nice board for the price

Cons: The stinking case plate( the plate you pop in your case for all the connectors, usb, ethernet, etc) was so shoddy. be careful putting it in, almost messed up my nic jack.

Other Thoughts: havent tested OC yet but i dont really plan to with this rig

5 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Good features on a high-performance board where overclocking is not desired, ASUS quality, easy setup and tuning.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Bought this board after two bad experiences with the ASRock Z75 PRO 3 board. I'll end up paying $70 for this after rebate and it;'s well worth the $3 difference. Much better quality and great features for the price. 4-phase power means it's not great for OC, but if you're looking to run a Core i3 or locked i5 this board has everything you need for a single card setup. Installed and fired up without a hitch. I've never had a bad experience with an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Mobo

Pros: This motherboard worked great right out of the box. System is: Core i5 3330, 8GB 1600 Kingston HyperX Fury memory. All working great.

Cons: Asus QVL hardly has any vendors listed. I dont know what their deal is, but any memory module compatible wih Z77 chipset should work.

I have verified this motherboard to be compatible with: HyperX Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model HX316C10FWK2/8

1 out of 5 eggsBad board, RMA craziness followed

Pros: Ran fine for 30 minutes. Installed windows 7 and was just starting the updates when the board died.

Cons: Board fried. While installing windows updates there was a pop and when I looked down at my computer there was a stream of smoke coming out the top. When I powered down the tower and removed the mother board I found burn damage on a chip in the top right corner near label pq515 and pq516.

No biggie. Just return it, no big deal. Newegg is really good with their returns from what I've been told.

Nope. They claimed three things that voided warranty.

1) there were bent pins.
Bull! there were no bent pins when I shipped the board. The thing was fine but for the bad chip.

2) Thermal grease on the board.
Also bull! No grease on the board that was returned to me.

3) missing 2 Sata cables.
Ya I goofed here. I was bummed and didn't remember which box the darn things came in.

Ok so Newegg is not replacing my board. I check the website to see what is going to happen next and it says they are checking with Asus. That's cool.

Silence. I hear nothing for another week. I check the website again and my RMA says approved. Sweet getting a replacement. Cool!

More silence. I send an e-mail to newegg a couple days later asking what is going on. I get a response with a bot e-mail that has an invoice for a new motherboard and they it should ship as soon as there is an available board. Double sweet!

Not long after, I get a second e-mail from newegg that has another invoice for -1 quantity asus motherboard.

I check the site again and the site says that my RMA is still approved. .....what?

I get another e-mail from a real person saying that the board is not being replaced and that I need to contect ASUS and see if they are going to replace the board. poop...

Whatever. I wait another week and get my board back and low an behold, there is pin damage in the socket. Disappointment. Very little chance at a replacement at this point.

Here is the strange bit. I have the bad board on my desk RIGHT NOW, and the website RIGHT NOW says my RMA was approved.

Other Thoughts: Take lots of pictures before sending something back.

Never trust the newegg website.

Manufacturer Response:

I am sorry that the motherboard has damaged CPU pins. If you are interested, you have an option to have the unit shipped in for a repair quote. Just let me know through email whether or not you would like to set up this type of RMA. Thank you. 3766005.

4 out of 5 eggsBuild is done

Pros: Very happy with this board, works well with the Intel i5 cpu

Cons: If buying a combo make sure where your parts are coming from. I bought this MB as part of a super combo. Half the parts came from Ontario within three days, and the others came from NJ. four days later because courier doesn't work weekends.

Other Thoughts: Build is finished. Bought as part of a super combo. Very satisfied..

4 out of 5 eggsGood budget board

Pros: Asus quality for a low price, heat sinks and overcurrent protection on VRM, USB 3.0, PCI-E 3.0 (requires Ivy Bridge CPU), 2 SATA III ports, reasonable overclocking ability for what it is. It's a smooth, stable, reasonably quick board that has good features for the price.

Cons: Only 4 phase VRM for the CPU, limited number of USB ports included, only 3 connections for the onboard sound card (though they are configurable to 5.1 if you wish). I took one egg off for the 4 phase VRM; if the cost advantage vs. boards with more phases was a little greater, I would have to give it 5 stars.

The board is a bit smaller than a lot of ATX boards, so the motherboard standoffs on the right edge of a more typically sized board can't be used. Not a big deal-- just be careful plugging the motherboard power connector in. I simply put 2 fingers slightly under the motherboard as it is mounted, thumb on the power connector, and squeeze them together.

Other Thoughts: While this is not an overclocking board per se, it does have a good complement of overclocking features. I am able to overclock my i5-2500k Sandy Bridge to only 100 mhz less than on my P8P67 Pro (which has 12 CPU power phases), which I think is pretty good for a 4 CPU phase board that is built (more or less) for the lower power Ivy Bridge CPUs.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor service

Pros: The board seems good enough, spec wise...and from other reviews it seems like it seems to be good for the money with some minor problems here and there.

Cons: The board seemed a little flimsy so be careful when installing it

Other Thoughts: The reason why I only gave this board 2 eggs is because I never actually got to use it but without fault to the board itself so I left 2 eggs for that reason.

When I took the board out of the box and went to install it, I quickly realized I had gotten the wrong socket style. Last minute decision to order the cheaper sale versus the board I was originally going to get, made me forget to double check for the socket style as I must have misread it :{ I quickly repackaged it with the original packaging and filed an RMA. Then I ordered a different board with the proper socket style. Newegg approved the RMA and It was sent out and a week later (today) I recieved notice that the board was damaged. Now, this came to a suprise to me because all I did was take it out of the box and prepare to install it. They said that the CPU socket pins were damaged? How can this be when I did not even have the right CPU to install...I never got to that point in installation! Well...apparantly that doesn't matter to Newegg and they denied my request and are sending the board back... I built a budget system for a I am going to be stuck with a board I don't need and a supposedly damaged one at that? The board must have already been damaged if it is...because I did not even get to that point...I never even looked at the socket! I realized it when I looked at the unopened cpu box and realized the mistake I had made.

In any case...I msged Newegg about this and they said there is nothing they can do and that I must contact the manufacturer about warranty information.

I can't afford to not get this RMA...and I spent an extra 15 just to ship the thing back...

So if you are looking to RMA , please do so using caution. Don't make the same mistake of ordering the wrong socket...especially if there is a chance that the board was DOA!

Also the RMA type was changed from Return to Replacement for some reason at the time of denial? We did not want a replacement...we ordered the proper board already and used money we don't really have because we had no idea the board was even damaged... What am I supposed to do ?
