5 out of 5 eggsPretty good board

Pros: Very good performance , can monitor EVERYTHING heat everywhere and all. very good features ( some i pront wont ever use ) upgraded from one bad made evo-asus board and gave asus one more shot and wasnt disappointed.

Cons: None really, had some lil glitches at start but once you get trough their niceand easy Bios everything is a sinch. ( not all hard drives will show in the ez-flash, youll see them all in the boot menu to calibrate which one will boot first )

Other Thoughts: My old board had less things on it and made it clumpy in my rig, this board has never made my rig look so roomy that its wonderful. board makes everything inside cooler than most other boards with all its heat monitoring which is neat. I was about to throw asus all tgther in the garbage but they have brought me back with this beauty.

Update 5/12/2016 Board still going strong! Hard to find a good board like it nowadays. You get what you pay for!

4 out of 5 eggsLOVE THIS BOARD!!!....but!

Pros: after going back & forth with many high end boards out there.. i went with asus due too the fact that i've not had a bad mb/tablet or other hardware problem.... i wanted to start with a evga gtx 980sc and a amd fx 8350 cpu..... with 3 way sli the pci-e slots run 16x8x8 not being a fan of boards that run 16x16x4 as most gpu's don't use all 100% of that bandwidth x16 cutting it down to x4 for me would be the bottleneck of that system...i know u can run faster ram other than 1866 that specs say...... my friend is running gskill 2133.....this board is a BEAST.
so if u can bypass the ssd raid issue, this board has set my for the next good handful of gaming years.
uefi has a basic and advanced sides witch i like...

Cons: i consider my self a very good tech problem solver, so when i got my 4 sp 120gb ssd's set up in raid on my mb i have the worst nightmare.... trying to install windows onto my array should have been very straight forward as i have done it 100 times... after reading more than a 100 of "tomshardware" and many other web site's for help in getting windows to load.

you will need to do this...
set up raid
go to and dl
on an other pc make iso image with your windows disk (power iso, deamon tool...)
follow rufus simple steps....this is setting up your ssd array format and partition (under 1tb will be mbr...gpt if over 1tb)no need for DISKPART
boot from your rufus iso usb
install raid driver
then u should go through the normal windows install.......
so yes if it wasn't for the fact that i pushed for the solution... i would have been like all the other cry babies how sad there was no way.... plus i have 3 friends that bought that same board, had the same problem and for all 3 of them i ran the rufus thing each time and there all work with ssd raid....
so apart from not having a savage gaming pc for more then 3 days trying to find the that i've got my system running smooth i don't have any other cons.......even thou i had a nightmare with the ssd i still give it 4 eggs....

Other Thoughts: amd fx 8350 4.3 stock cooling for now....water cooling soon :o)
gskill ddr3 1333 2x4gb sticks 8gb 7-7-7 21
evga gtx 980 sc running 3 screens....planning on 3 way sli by the end of the year
4x120gb sp ssd's in raid 0
logitech g930 and g700s

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Great board, fast. Plenty of bells and whistles. Uefi bios is easy to work with. Cool color scheme.

Cons: NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other Thoughts: I have had this board for a little over a year mow. It's still going strong and is very dependable. It now has an AMD FX 95990 cpu, clocked to 5.1 and 16gb of 2400 ram. I would recommend this board to anyone. That is if ASUS brought it back. That is a good idea!! Hey Asus bring this board back. It's sweet. Thank you Asus for making a great product and thank you Newegg for carrying this product.

2 out of 5 eggsIt Was great...

Pros: Lots of options, and can be overclocked

Cons: USB and Sound went out after 3 mouths and lock ups...

Other Thoughts: USB/Sound would go out at the same time and just lock up and freeze. Couldn't be on the computer for more than a few hrs before the sounds go out and usb goes out...

I Tried new drivers and reformat.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes not support Windows 8.1

Pros: AMD board with PCI-E 3.0, Reasonably solid performance if all the details align.

Cons: Not rock solid heart touching Military Grade. They are NOT supporting Windows 8.1 on this board. After updating to Windows 8.1 my Lan driver no longer works. After installing Win 8.1 driver from Realtek, it works but after a reboot, or random disabling, i have to run a "diagnose" to reset it which will usually make it start working again. Has a lot of the usual inconsistencies that Asus exhibits (Promise Everything, but do nothing perfectly). Only officially supports up to 1866 Mhz ram (Running Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400mhz stably at only 1768 with plenty of cooling)

Other Thoughts: (Previously posted this review on the gen 2 board, this was intended for this gen 3 board as the gen 2 has updated drivers even though it is older)

Microsoft has been claiming that anyone with Windows 8 can update to 8.1 with no problems. But according to the Asus tech support I spoke with "8.1 was a very significant kernel update." I believe Asus should have put some information on their website that 8.1 would not be initially supported and that users should beware not to accept the automatic update. The kind of power users buying this supposedly most up to date in class board should beware.

You can install the realtek lan driver for the gen 2 board for this board on windows 8.1, it will work unless you are using Hyper-V, in which case you will have to reset your virtual network card after every reboot.

A better option would just be to purchase and install a separate NIC.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good mb

Pros: so this is my second review. I said I would come back and let people know how the mb is working out. I'm very happy. very good mb. for the people not able to run ram at 1866, pick docp , 1866 and either profile 1 or 2. I picked 1.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Worked like it was supposed to and arrived intact.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This motherboard works exactly as expected. I have it in a mineral oil rig, which in itself was a stressful setup, but the motherboard gave me no issues at all.

1 out of 5 eggsproblems

Pros: nice looking board

Cons: does not like to reboot. (I have to power it off and on several times to get it to load) does not like to read memory correctly. ( I tried 2 different RAM sticks)

Other Thoughts: I waited too long to try to RMA it, so now stuck with it. If looking for a solid board, go with another board. this looked/sounded like a great board, but its nothing special.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry you are having issues with your motherboard. Here are some basic troubleshooting steps you could try:

Memory issues:

1. Ensure that the memory used is on the QVL. You can find out more information regarding this on our support site.
2. Press the MemOK! button as seen on page 1-25 of the user manual.
3. Make sure the memory profile is set to X.M.P.

Please send the requested information to email, and we can figure out why the memory is not working. Your reference number is 3005363.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems

Pros: I would love to say I had ANY.

Cons: I am on board number 2 and waiting for my advanced RMA paperwork for board 3 to be processed. I waited a whole week before calling Asus back asking why I had no response from them! Only to find out that they had sent my paper work to the wrong department.

Before all of this I RMA'd my first board back to new egg, it was an Asus M5A99X evo R2.0 and had two faulty usb ports! To say the least I am fed up and feel I deserve some compensation as I have been without a working board for over 3 months now!

So I suppose I am really on Asus motherboard #4.

Other Thoughts: Other hardware awaiting my next Mobo................

Cooler Master Storm Stryker Full Size ATX
AMD 8350 Vishera CPU
Coolermaster V6 GT Air Cooler in Push Pull (with case fans)
Kingston Hyper X 1600Mhz 8GBx4=32GB
240 Gb Intel Cherryville SSD
120 Gb Patriot Pyro SSD
3TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 Rpm
MSI 7970 Twin frozr III
ThermalTake 1000W Modular PSU
ASUS PCE-N53 wireless PCI Adapter
Windows 8 Pro x64 / Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry you are having issues with your motherboard. I completely understand any frustrations you may be feeling after this experience, especially being on your 3rd board now. With that said, if you would like to have an update on this case, please let me know, and I will be happy to look into it for you. Your reference number for this case is 2944632.
