5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Countless Features
-Amazing build quality
-mPCIe combo card II included!
-UEFI bios is very fluid

Cons: Not really a con, but do be aware that the newer Gene VII is now available. More info as to why i chose this one instead is below in "Other Thoughts"

Other Thoughts: I chose this mobo over the newer Gene VII due to the fact that the mPCIe combo II card is included with this board and NOT with the newer Gene VII. Asus sells this seperately for an additional $50. I needed this combo II card in order to get WiFi to this computer as LAN right now is not an option because of where the computer is set up. There are some changes made to the Gene VII, but in my opinion, the Gene VI will satisfy 99% of those looking for an ROG mobo.

I even contacted Asus's technical support to inquire as to whether the mPCIe combo II will work on the Gene VII (I know that it will), and Asus's response was basically "No". Yeah....sure.......

2 out of 5 eggsreliability

Pros: the board looks good with the black and red color. the proce is ok. has potentiol if you get a good one.

Cons: this board is touchy and glitchy, and funsions ok most of the time. i have had this card for approximatly six months and the latesed is it wont keep the correct time or date, it looks like the onboard battery is dead causing allready other problems. for the price i dont think i would recomend this card.

Other Thoughts: has the potential to be a good motherboard. If it worked more consistently. After using this board over the last six months I still won’t trust it so enough so I can get rid of my old machine. Based on my experience with this item I would not recommend this card for someong looking for consistant reliability.

1 out of 5 eggsMade it to 37 days before it died

Pros: The BiOS was intuitive and the board was a good fit for my needs

Cons: It died about 37 days later.

Other Thoughts: I turned my computer on, was stuck on a Windows 8.1 automatic recovery process, powered off and back on using the power button. No go, so I turned off the PSU, and removed the power cord. Waited 30 seconds, put cord back in and turn PSU on. Nothing, no lights nothing.

I removed everything (vid card, memory, CPU, etc), took the board out of the case, used a PSU from a working system I have, plugged only the 12 PIN power, and there was nothing. The board is completely dead. Examined the board for any signs of damage and looks just as perfect as the day I bought it. Oh well, I have submitted a case to ASUS and hopefully can RMA the board.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus did it again

Pros: This board rocks! So many cool options! This is a fantastic board. From the bios to all the cool stuff on the board. I like all the features. It lights up red too which is totally awesome. I feel bad that I put an i5 in it. There is a lot of potential with this board. I haven't started yet but I bet it overclocks well. I love it. Asus has done a great job. It also came with a ton of sata 6GB cables.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: As good as bacon

5 out of 5 eggsBest Micro ATX board out there!

Pros: Ordered this board for a new LGA 1150 build after endless reviews of MATX boards. This board by far was the most recommended out there. Full of features, well thought out and a blazing fast board! If you are building a MATX system this IS the board you are looking for! Check out the review over on OC Club for a fantastic rundown, OC results and what ultimately sold me this board.

Cons: The board itself - none. I have read many reviews of Asus's customer service though is on the decline. I hope this is not the case.

Other Thoughts: I am not sure why there are people complaining that ASUS did not shrinkwrap the box. IF the board was used it would be very clear since it is almost impossible to remove from the cardboard packaging. You could not get it back into the tray unnoticed. The board comes really securely packaged. No worries there.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA Worst Order Ever

Pros: None, wouldn't turn on.

Cons: DOA. Wouldn't turn on. Mobo arrived broken. Showed up with bent pins. RMA would not be issued to me for a replacement.

Other Thoughts: Now I am out $250 and this is will be the last time I order anything with the ASUS brand name.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

We're sorry to hear about your experience with the motherboard. Our motherboards go through rigorous inspection before leaving the factory, and all come with a protective CPU socket cover to prevent accidental damage to the socket pins. We recommend sending the board in for RMA-repair. Unfortunately, this type of damage is not covered under warranty and a standard repair cost will apply. To proceed, please contact us again at 1-812-282-2787 or use the online RMA submittal form at: http://vip.asus.com/eservice/usa_rmaserv.aspx. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me below. Thank you. 3495778.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: This board is the best value for the money that I could find for Intel builds and comes feature-packed and comes with at least 90% of the hardware features as the up-to double price other Maximus VI's. All the same software is included with the standard Maximus drivers disk, so there's no loss there on the more expensive sibling boards.

ASUS is definitely my go-to motherboard company of choice for a long time, and the build quality shows with this board. I had no troubles installing my Corsair cooling and 4770K chip, and everything has been humming along with tons of power and features ever since.

Cons: Board is pretty unclear about chip position and installing 3rd-party cooling systems is slightly harder than AMD systems.

Price, although I can't really blame ASUS because this is, of course, an Intel board, and Intel platforms just cost more just because of the Intel name, so you kind of have to accept that the low-end boards cost as much as the high-end AMD boards; though I can not remove a star for this because the current Intel chips are amazing.

Other Thoughts: Coming from a Crosshair IV formula, there is a LOT more to do in the BIOS of this beast (UEFI) than previous BIOSes, which can be a con or a pro depending on your expertise.

5 out of 5 eggsbest MATX board out there.

Pros: Board comes packaged fantastically. All the software and power cables come individually packaged. Nice neat set up! There was a little confusion about the power on, reset and memory dump buttons but if you read the manual you should have a problem. RoG disk pretty much sets you up with everything and more. Make sure you have win 7 or higher! Love the back lit red LEDs. Fits perfectly in a corsair obsidian 350d.

Cons: Wish there was more space for air flow between the PCI-e slots just a half inch would do her. But that isn't gonna get an egg taken away. Even with both 760's with back plates. Seems to me holding steady at temps.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this board and never built prior to this. Probably isn't for you, if you have no intention of over clocking... You may be in the wrong class. Don't complain when you find yourself lost.
