1 out of 5 eggs41 days

Pros: While it worked, it was great

Cons: Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service from ASUS!!!!! I owned this board for 41 days and it worked great. One night I turned it off and it never came back on. I tested my PSU and ensured it was working properly and have narrowed down the no-startup cause to the MB. When I tried to contact ASUS customer service about the issue, it was one dis-interested, half-hearted response person after another. After being told that I'll basically have to pay to have them ship me a "refurbished" board and then ship them my busted board I finally just asked them to email me the RMA information. Still waiting.......

Other Thoughts: I've been building computers for over 14 years now. Switched from Foxconn to ASUS motherboards in the early 2000's. Have bought and had no problems with dozens of ASUS motherboards. Little did I know I was lucky. Apparently, ASUS invests all their money on the tech side of their business and leaves the customer service side for rejects. In the business I'm with, our customer service is simple. If you aren't happy neither are we and we will do everything to make you happy again. Do we lose money on this perspective? Sometimes. Do we win over lifetime customers with it? Frequently. And their return purchases will make up for the money we sometimes lose out on. I think ASUS should take a hint from our customer service philosophy.

The most horrible part about it all? I'm not sure another brand of motherboard is as reliable as ASUS. Years and years before the first bad motherboard? Pretty good. But boy do I never want to have any experience with their "customer service" dept. again. Buyer be ware.

4 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: very good board

Cons: This board came with a mail in rebate for 30$-After jumping through all the hoops-i.e.-printing out their form and filling it in,cutting out the bar-code on the box, copy of original invoice etc...I get refused because they say i didn't send a bar-code ,but i sent every thing they ask for and I have proof yet they deny it.Cheap, low down dirty scum-and for that reason it will be the last cent I ever spend on asus products. Greedy & cheep company

5 out of 5 eggsThis Board is Smokin'

Pros: The graphic interface in the bios is a substantial upgrade and makes manipulation of the system easy. Updating components was a snap. Combined with my i7 quad core haswell cpu and the onboard graphics of this card, I was amazed. No graphics card required. And I use photoshop and other graphic intensive programs.

Cons: Some trouble seeing a 1tb drive, but with the bios update, problem solved

5 out of 5 eggsGreat ASUS board as always!

Pros: Upgrading from a P8P67 REV 3.1 I found this board very similar in it's BIOS and is easy to use because of this. Easy manual overclocking without an issue with the I7-4790K. Has been stable since the day I bought and have no regrets getting another Asus board. Love the LED indicator screen on the board to help troubleshoot any issues rather than through beeps like in the past.

Cons: Has the occasional "Overclocking failed" error/bug that I got on my previous board. Simply clicking through and clicking exit without changes seems to override this issue.

1 out of 5 eggsPOC Motherboard

Pros: I should have known better after reading the numerous reviews stating this board arrived DOA. To make a long story short, assembled the motherboard with new processor and power supply and all it will do is spin the fan for 1 second then nothing. No beeps or error codes, so I am sending it back .

Cons: Dead on Arrival - must pay the expense of having to return it.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS is KING!

Pros: - Does what ASUS says it can
- No issues with faulty firmware or other malfunctions
- UEFI is clean and functional
- Handles the hardware I've thrown at it (Haswell i7-4770k, HyperX RAM w/ XMP profile at 1600 MHz, GeForce GTX 780 Ti, Corsair AX860 PSU)
- Great bang for buck
- AI Suite 3 makes software-assisted overclocking very easy and shows gobs of data pertaining to temperature status and other info on the board

Cons: - Included driver disk that claims to have Windows 8.1 drivers caused so many BSOD's on a Windows 8.1 install, I had to reinstall Windows and obtain drivers from - see my other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I chose this motherboard to run a high-performance multimedia/gaming PC that I assembled in January 2014. This system has been actively used for about a year and one week at the time of this review. As mentioned above, I've really not had any issues with this board. It has done everything I've asked of it, and appears to be capable of everything ASUS advertises. I like the gold accenting. It isn't flashy, but more of a dull gold. It looks good from the window in my Fractal Design Define R4.

The UEFI is very clean and functional, but certain sub-menus can look a little cluttered. I've thrown a Haswell i7-4770k, 16GB of HyperX Black RAM with the XMP profile set to 1600 MHz, EVGA's Superclocked GeForce GTX 780 Ti with ACX Cooling and Corsair's AX860 modular PSU at this board and it's handled it like a champ. AI Suite 3 makes it easy to get a general overview of what's going on with the board. You can also use AI Suite 3 to perform a software overclock. I know a lot of people like spending hours upon hours bouncing between Windows and the BIOS tweaking the overclock themselves, but this is a great alternative to those of us who don't know squat about overclocking. It performs plenty of stress testing, and my particular CPU (remember, no two CPUs are really the same) was able to be overclocked from Intel's stock 3.4 GHz to a nice 4.5 GHz. I ran Prime95 for a few hours and it was a very solid overclock.

The ONLY issue I encountered was back when I originally set this board up in January 2014. I had a fresh install of Windows 8.1 on a Samsung 840 EVO SSD, and I tried to use the included driver disc that was labeled as including Windows 8.1 drivers to set up the system. I installed the included Intel chipset drivers, and not only did I receive a Blue Screen of Death in the middle of install, every time I tried to reboot the system I'd get a Blue Screen of Death. I have no clue if ASUS mislabeled the disc or if Intel shipped incorrect/faulty drivers. I reinstalled Windows 8.1, downloaded driver's from, installed via a USB drive and all is well. You shouldn't use the included driver disc anyways (unless you have to!), so I was probably asking for that issue.

Overall, it's a very solid board. I'm thinking about building a Broadwell system this year. Regardless of if I build that Broadwell system or use this one for another three or so years, I will more than likely use an ASUS board again. Logan from Tek Syndicate showed me this board and he has nothing but positive things to say about ASUS boards. The videos he did with JJ from ASUS demonstrating AI Suite 3 and the other features were pretty much what sold me on it. ASUS makes excellent hardware at an affordable price point, and as such, I do not regret my decision buying their Z87-PRO board. It's excellent value for money.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard!

Pros: 1. Very easy to navigate BIOS.
2. Easy to update.
3. Packaged well.
4. Great customer support

Cons: 1 Did not come with updated BIOS (as expected, but would have been sweet)
2. Back USB ports don't seem to work for me? Could be that I'm running on Linux, but ASUS customer support has been very helpful.

Other Thoughts: Great motherboard to pick up, especially for a newbie! BIOS can be difficult to understand at first, but ASUS motherboard's BIOS has always been the most user friendly to me. I'll always recommend ASUS boards!
