5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Good Board Layout
Very sturdy
Lots of ports for pretty much everything
Looks great

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: When they work, they’re outstanding. It’s always somewhat of an adventure putting one of these systems together wondering if they’ll work as advertised. With PC components it’s become something of a crapshoot with anywhere from 10% to 30% defect rates depending on the product or manufacturer and I think product reviews will validate this.
I got lucky with my Z87 PRO board. I stuck a 4770k CPU in it and used 8g of corsair DDR3 2133 memory and a Corsair 750w power supply, with SSD drives in a raid 1 configuration. It started right up and booted up (Windows 7 64bit) so fast I initially thought something was wrong (my first build using SSD’s). Like I said, when it works as advertised right out of the box, this motherboard is absolutely outstanding.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Z87 PRO

Pros: I really didn't get a chance to use it because I bent some CPU pins. The LGA 1150 has the pins on the motherboard. Totally my fault.
Customer service was above average and quick. I chose to fix the board at a reasonable charge.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Winner from ASUS

Pros: Solidly built, User guide is clear, accurate & complete.
Excellent quality parts, VERY smart BIOS
HDMI, DVI, USB2, USB3, Bluetooth 4
8 total SATA ports
Serious Wi-Fi plus GB LAN
Plenty of slots to add more cards
8GB RAM and Core i5 (using i5 for video)

Cons: Installation CD has all the valueless add-ons that you would expect. You can easily skip the valueless add-ons while you are installing the numerous drivers.

Other Thoughts: I have built several PC's using ASUS boards. Year after year they keep getting better and better. This board is outstanding in its class. Everything works just like it should. No glitches. Price for this board is very reasonable.
I built the machine from soup to nuts in one (very long) day -- including software. You cannot do that with a substandard mobo.

4 out of 5 eggsasus z87 pro motherboard

Pros: This board is big and very well configured. Installing the it the first time was so easy that I decided to buy two more from Newegg. Everything has worked! It has 6 USB 3.0 sockets built into the rear of the board and the potential for 2 more if your case can accomodate them. I have tested all three of the boards and they were all problem free. However, my 2nd Z87 pro board died when I updated the Bios to #1707. Shortly after the update it wouldn't boot--the board's Power-on light would light up flashing but would not power up. I got no analytical help from the manual or Asus Chat(could be either PS or MOBO); I checked the power supply, all connections and installed a new board(which worked). Asus gave me an RMA on this board very quickly and they have it now for repair. Asus gave me the RMA very quickly and my past experience with their RMA service has been very good. Only minus 1 egg for this problem because Bios updates are a scary event for any manufacturer's motherboards.

Cons: I bought extended warranty's with each of these 3 Z87 Pro motherboards, $19.99 each. Newegg's receipt prompted me to "manage my warranties" by going to where they list the warrarties(or are supposed to) and pertinent info for each warranty. Only two of the 3 Z87 pro warranties is listed for my account and although I have contacted this service several times, they have not corrected the problem and do not even answer my inquiries now. Well, I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad and its only $19.99.

Other Thoughts: The aray of hardware and software on motherboards keeps increasing in both numbers and technical difficulty every year. The software and hardware companies keep raising the level of things that companies like ASUS must acommodate with new boards each year that its a wonder that ASUS can produce boards that are stable enough that users will still buy them. I like this board because its state of the art for the uses that appeal to me but may not appeal to all of the techie kids who go gaga over every new inovation.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA Poor Service

Pros: Nice set of features including built in WIFI port. Not to sure of the new gold look, unable to get other computer parts to color coordinate well and look good. Not much else can be said since board came DOA.

Cons: Motherboard will not boot keeps giving error " USB over current condition detected. Will shutdown in 15 seconds."
Unable to get any service support from ASUS Support. Their online support keeps saying they are out of the office for strange excuses even during their normal business hours. When I sent an email request for service, I will get no response.

Other Thoughts: Was looking forward to giving this Asus Z87-Pro motherboard a better review. But I wasted to much money on shipping this board in for replacement and counting the lost rebate due to requirement that packaging not be damaged.
Now ASUS does not want to stand behind their product and charge over half the cost for this brand new DOA motherboard just to fix the issue. What happened to the 3 year warranty especially since it came DOA. For now it makes a a nice wall conversion piece for poor customer service and manufacture quality assurance program.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: * Lots of customization in the bios
* Bluetooth and wifi on-board (I only plan on using the bluetooth)
* Built-in overclocking switches
* Worked with all my components right away
* Great Linux support (Fedora 20+)

Cons: For whatever reason, using the TPU II switch causes Windows setup to throw a "machine_check_exception". The only way around it was to set it to 1. I sadly had to dock an egg for that because it was a huge waste of time for me to discover THAT was the reason why I couldn't get windows installed.

I was able to install Linux perfectly fine though.

Other Thoughts: Newegg needs to either stop being selective on their RMA requests or revise their replacement policy. I had a board come in that had bent pins and the customer service department said I was trying to return it (I was trying to get a replacement) and said I damaged it. This led to HUGE amount of frustration when they said they'd give me store credit to buy a new board... which I wouldn't have got till Tuesday that next week. Basically, I got third class service, and apparently the only way to get things done the right way is to complain on their facebook page.

That's actually very depressing and I expect better from Newegg. The multiple times my family has RMA'd motherboards for replacements, they got their replacements no questions asked. Loyal customers (for me, since 2006) get treated a much more negative way than new-ish customers.

If you happen to get a bad board, RMA it with Asus. Dealing with newegg will be the biggest mistake you'll ever make. Trust me on that.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't trust their repair/ warrentes

Pros: Work good, if they work out of the box.

Cons: Had components go on a board go out in less then the three year warrantee. When I sent it to them, they sent me back a scratched board. Where the plug in's go on the back of the computer, along the copper that connected everything. It looked like it had been scratched with alligator clips. I doubt it was even my board by the looks of it, my original board that is. Never had a problem with my board till that one point and now it's useless, no thanks to them. Repair.... more like ruin the rest of the way to make you buy a new board.

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't trust this company to do anything after that. What a joke of a company. As for excuses from them, they'll say anything under the sun. Also in the same effect, I had tried to get in touch with someone then and went unheard...... So don't even try that repetitive we tried. You didn't.....

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Tons of features for the price.
Looks pretty cool in my case.

Cons: DOA

Other Thoughts: I've owned many ASUS boards over the years and built many many systems, but I've never had a board that right out of the box did absolutely nothing. Oh sure, the cute little red LED comes on telling me it has power, but that's as far as she goes. No quick fan spin saying "hey, I'm going to at least make an attempt to work". No beeps saying "wow, life as a mobo is pretty awesome"...nothing. Thanks for letting me RMA, Newegg, hopefully the replacement is better. If so, I'll be happy to adjust my review. Until then, one egg for you.

5 out of 5 eggsA great start to almost any build

Pros: Well Made
Looks Great
Plenty of options, connections, ports, you name it
Easy to use BIOS
Built in WiFi and Bluetooth ! That is a huge plus.

Cons: The only issue I had is the I/O ports and the Shield did not go smoothly together. The shield is sort of flimsy compared to other boards I have had. And there are many ports to fit into the flimsy holes.
So you need to take your time and line it up well.

Also the wifi was not set up at boot up. So to get internet I had to load the included disc and load the wifi driver. Not too hard but not drop dead simple either. Not sure why it would not be activated out of the box.

Other Thoughts: I read HUNDREDS of reviews on moboards. I had thought of just doing a cheap build. After reading all the reviews and from my past experience I know the moboard is the key to any good computer.

So I decided to move up in range. This is my first ASUS moboard and the reviews and Newegg video sold me on this one. It is just right. Has plenty of options, but not over the top and too pricey.

Unless you are building a mega uber high end machine, this board will easily handle anything you can throw at it.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS makes good

Pros: Quality design and construction. Excellent value. Loaded with features compared to similarly priced MB's from competitors. Asus customer support is top notch!

Cons: Wifi-Go utility software cannot make my breakfast!

Other Thoughts: While this might be considered an entry level board by some, you could argue that it easily competes with most mid-range MB's on the market. Price per feature easily sets this board high on the list. TPU tweak is awesome for performance gains without having to commit to overclock customization through BIOS settings. I would recommend that you get familiar with the users manual because this board and its software are packed options.
