1 out of 5 eggsNever again

Pros: Great concept of features IF IT WORKED

Cons: This board is just plain garbage. I am now on my third RMA. First board died after 3 weeks. Second board was SHIPPED damaged. This third board was brand new from the factory. I had waited to use it (since their RMA process takes so long, I replaced the board in my main rig after the second RMA began) so it sat for a few months. I went to build a rig with it this afternoon. The board comes back with the same issue as the original. The CPU LED is on. I guess I will be talking with ASUS again tomorrow. That may have just lost a long time customer with this shameful quality. I honestly do not even want another z87-a.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard but has a defect

Pros: Well, it does everything it's supposed to do. It was easy to install and has a fantastic looking BIOS with plenty of options. No driver issues with Windows 8.1

Cons: It has a frozen clock. This means that when I turn the computer on, it shows the exact time when I turned it off. This is quite annoying and Windows (unlike Linux) NTP client is not configured well by default.

Will be trying to return it.

5 out of 5 eggsNot Bad at all

Pros: Got this back in June '13. Install was pretty average, with some tight spaces as I crammed components on but nothing impossible.

No defects or running problems whatsoever. The board supports a heavily-modified Skyrim without any speed problems between the other components or overheating issues.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I don't overclock. Using it with a Haswell i5.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality

Pros: In theory, has everything you need/want

Cons: Poor quality, does not last

Other Thoughts: Skip it and get a better quality board.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for 10 months

Pros: UEFI BIOS, onboard options for expansion, plenty of USB 3 ports

Cons: Reliability - 10 months later it reports "ec or ec flash might be corrupted" and won't boot. Good luck getting any support from ASUS - submitted 2 tickets, attempted to web-chat and email.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked until timing crystal went out

Pros: Solid board
Really powerful for the money
All the ports I'd ever need

Cons: The timing crystal went out and called support. Support asked for my serial number and I found out there wasn't one on my board. So now I have a dead board and they refuse to replace it.

Do not buy Asus their customer support is awful.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat piece of hardware!

Pros: Plenty of RAM expansion slots
Easy installation CPU slot
Came with everything I needed to mount.
Instructions were very easy to follow
Mounting it only took a few minutes and was simple.

Cons: None, was a great Motherboard for the price and it's got everything I wanted.

Other Thoughts: First time builder here, I bought all the components and used this Motherboard as it's base, everything was simple and I successfully wired everything properly on my first try. Only took a little time and reading the instructions every now and then. Don't be scared, this motherboard won't bite!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Works very well with my i5 4670K. Everything has been flawless on it, booted up without issues the first time. No blue screens or crashes. Lots of 3 pin mobo fan connectors. Bios is rich with options for overclocking.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It seems the last few reviewers have had a string of bad luck with the boards. I have had zero issues, its been a great board.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after one year

Pros: Really awesome while it lasted. The automatic over clocking tool got 4.3Ghz on my i7-4770k with almost no effort.

Cons: Doesn't last forever. It has a 3 year warranty so I will post back once that is done. Regardless of how good that process is, my computer is going to be a brick for a while :(

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable Board, Slow Service

Pros: Low Cost?

Cons: Board was unstable from day 1, I just did not realize at first that it was the board. (No dual channel operation, random hardware error bluescreens in Windows, boot post stuck etc - worked fine in Linux, though). I exchanged the RAM, no improvement. When I finally nailed it down to the board, I was past the 30 day return window and had to take it up with Asus "Service".

After making me jump through many hoops (set the RAM timings manually, try other RAM sockets etc) I finally got a RMA number. I returned the board a month ago, they received it 24 days ago. Still no message and no new/repaired board. Useless.

I used to be a big fan of Asus, but I guess I while avoid their products for quite a while now.

Other Thoughts: BTW: the system is running stable with a different board

Manufacturer Response:
